First, select a design. Then, apply the four steps of the theory of rhetoric you learned in your readings to the design. Specific steps to include are:
Express the charge: What is the decision to build a certain type?
How was this decision reached?
Division into issues:
Who is served by the designed work?
In what manner are they served?
At what location are they served?
Alternatives:
Identify various ways in which the purpose could be accomplished.
State the good that each alternative should be able to do.
Choice with justification:
Does the design selected address the history and geography of the community creatively?
How does the design address the client(s)?
How does the design address the context in which it is used?
How are the values of the user expressed through the design?
This history-based theory is centered in the Post-Modernism in particular. Aspects of the post-modern era may be relevant to your analysis paper.
