Writing Assignment: Research Proposal Letter
For this assignment, you will write college application essay helpWriting Assignment: Research Proposal Letter
For this assignment, you will write your research proposal letter. You are required to submit
only your final draft for this assignment (though we encourage all students to take advantage of
the additional feedback a draft can provide). Use the grader’s feedback and the rubric to make
revisions to your draft before submitting the final. Your second draft will be graded.
This research proposal letter will be directed to an audience who can create change
(Congressperson, business administrators, or other similar audience.) In the proposal, you
need to suggest a change or a solution to a current problem. As you have already chosen a
topic for your research proposal letter in Topic 6 and conducted an interview that will
become one of your sources for this letter, you do not need to choose a topic. You must use
the same topic that you began researching in Topic 6, and you must use your interview as a
source.
Your research proposal should be presented in a letter format including the following
information:
• Your mailing address (Note: For privacy reasons, you may opt to not disclose your
mailing address when you submit your letter to our graders for review; however,
should you choose to mail your letter to your chosen recipient, you will need to
include your mailing address, as this is a customary business letter practice.) Note
that a formal letter does not require your name in the header. Your name will go at
the end, with your closing.
• The date you wrote the letter
• A name and mailing address for the individual to whom you are writing the letter
• A greeting or salutation
• A closing and your typed name (Note: A written signature is optional for your
submission, but should you choose to send your letter, you would need to include
your written signature between the closing and your typed name.)
Scroll to the end of these instructions for an idea of how you should format this
assignment.
To organize this information, follow the format included in the course site in the
“Assignments” area.
For your proposal, follow this organizational framework:
For your researched proposal, follow this organizational framework:
• Introduction: The Problem
Identify the problem, including researched information to explain it fully. You may
devote more than one paragraph to describe the problem if needed. To determine
the extent of the information you must provide about the problem, consider the
letter recipient’s understanding of the problem.
• Body: Your Proposal
Explain the specifics of your proposal. What are your solutions to solve this problem,
step by step? What is the cost? How is this cost incurred? What ideas do you have for
funding your proposal?
Justify your proposal. How will your proposal solve the problem? Why is this proposal
feasible?
Concede or refute the counterarguments: Will the letter recipient have certain
preconceived ideas about the subject? How can you address these counterarguments
without diminishing your argument? Note: You will lose points from the rubric if you
do not address the counterargument.
• Conclusion: Your Argument
Take into consideration your chosen audience and his/her interests. Use persuasive
techniques to align your proposal to the audience’s ideals. You may use more than
one concluding paragraph if needed.
See the end of this document for more specific information about formatting your letter
appropriately.
You are required to use source information, including ideas you learned from the interview
process wherever it will prove your point. In addition to the interview itself, you should have
at least two other credible sources, for a total of at least three sources. Note: If you do not
meet the source minimum, the rubric will automatically be scored down.
Since this is a letter, you will use signal phrases (i.e., “As Fugle describes…”) and omit
parenthetical citations (“Fugle”). You must include a Works Cited page for this assignment.
Good, informative signal phrases will be important in order to make sure your sources are
credited (example: “Fugle, a well-known environmental researcher, explains the problem
by…”).
As with all college writing, you must include a strong thesis statement and take care to avoid
logical fallacies while following the other standards for academic writing.
You might use this as a guideline in crafting your thesis:
Valley City should (add solution suggestion), which (add how it can be funded) and (add justification),
although (add counterargument focus).
Here is a more specific example:
Valley City should (use its largest abandoned warehouse for a new recreational center to hold before
and after-school programs), which (can be conveniently funded by the tax stream that was being
used to construct Main Street until this point), and will (provide the final element—housing—in order
for local schools to also implement a before-school program(, and although (some community
members do not believe before- and after-school programs are necessary(, they should (review the
high number of students apprehended by law enforcement during the hours before and after-school
programs would operate).
The guidelines for this assignment are as follows:
Length: This assignment should be at least 500 words.
Format:
• This assignment has a special format (letter style), so you will not use a typical header
• Single-spacing, with a double-space between paragraphs (see below)
• Standard 12 point font (Arial, TimesNewRoman, Calibri)
• 1” margins on all sides
• Save the file using one of the following extensions: .docx, .doc, .rtf, or .txt
Since this is a formal letter format, you will not underline your thesis statement.
Please scroll to the next page to see a sample letter format.

Opinion | Inside a Mental Hospital Called Jail – The New York Times (nytimes.com)
If I were to read this article from the perspective of a sociologist of crime and violence, I would look at it more objectively rather than subjectively as I feel the article is written now as sociologists’ study human behavior, interaction and organization. (2022 U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) There seems to be a clear issue within our criminal justice system that defers mental illness to the prison system as opposed to a mental institution and the root cause seems to be that of monetary issue. From an organizational perspective there is a large issue between delineation of what is rooted in behavioral disorder and what is rooted in intentional deviant, criminal behavior. This news article is not similar to the perspective or approach a sociologist might take because it is highly emotionally driven and there is little to no updated and empirical data backing claims and assumptions.

Hi, My name is Julia. I live in New Jersey and I am majoring in sociology. I hope to work in social services one day.
New Jersey just legalized recreational cannabis so I chose an article that highlighted this.
N.J. lawmakers seek to curb cannabis use
This article states that a new New Jersey law prevents an employer from firing someone if tests positive for cannabis but there are lawmakers that are trying to change that. A debated law right now is one that will make it prohibit cannabis usage for police officers. I think a sociologist of crime and violence would highlight why some professions are prohibited to use cannabis are others are not. Is there a cultural bias against law enforcement. Since law enforcement works with with enforcing the law, does this mean the culture and law makers believe cannabis is still “bad” or can led to violence? I think a a sociologist of crime and violence would explore why its accepted for some professions to use cannabis and not others.

Hello everyone, I live in and ohio and attend school online. I work in a warehouse but when not working I train for powerlifting and strongman competitions. I also train my 9 year old daughter who started competing with me as well. Other hobbies are video games and table top war games like Warhammer. I am in school for business management with an emphasis on sports. One main goal is to own or manage a gym but also feel I can use this degree to help move up in my current company.
When it comes to most financial crisis or just today’s finance having emergency money saved up is always needed if when it’s hard. Trying to not go splurge any time you get extra money and instead saving it. Trying to do extra jobs or hours in spare time can also help this as long as you aren’t burning yourself out and causing un needed medical bills.
I feel a second thing some people don’t think about when times are getting rough is looking at the job market as well. Knowing what places are still hiring and having plenty of hours can be helpful in keeping an income in a financial crisis. My job relies heavily on transport and with the gas prices and truckers getting mad you never know what can happen. I tend to keep an eye out on places still hiring and working a lot just incase I were to get laid off and needed another job quickly.

Hi everyone!
I’m Senada. I am a mom, wife, student, and 911 dispatcher; I dispatch police, fire, and ems. I am pursuing a bachelors degree in business administration and am anticipating on graduating this December. I hope to learn all things finances and hope to learn something for my personal finances as well. With being a full time employee, student and also having a toddler I do not have much time for hobbies, however, when I do get that time I enjoy hanging out with my family, shopping, and golfing (not as much as my husband). Two concerns that I believe are important is growing an emergency fund, and not spending what one does not have. Many people who were effected by COVID-19 were not expecting the economy to turn bad, or lose their jobs. Even with a stimulus check, many were struggling to get by on a day to day basis. To minimize future risks, individuals should save or find investments that will help their finances grow.

Actually, this is the second time he has been caught stealing food. The first time he shoplifted at the store, the deferred adjudication included his commit- ment to work for the store owner. He explained that he was trying to help his mother, who could not provide enough food for his family. In general, failure to succeed at deferred adjudication results in a commitment to a juvenile facility. What would you recommend to the judge

Overview: The New Testament begins with four books all telling the same story. In chapter five, Powell compares the gospels to portraits. While a coherent picture of Jesus emerges from the four gospels as a set, each individual gospel highlights certain things about Jesus. In this course, you will often be prompted to think about what each author seems to particularly emphasize. If you have read the Bible before, perhaps in church, this way of reading may feel a bit unfamiliar. By paying attention to the different emphases of each gospel, this class aims to construct a more nuanced and multi-faceted understanding of Jesus. Three Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and Luke—are called “Synoptic Gospels.” These three gospels share a good deal in common; “synoptic” literally means to see (-optic) the same way or together (syn-). They follow the same narrative outline, and both Matthew and Luke may have used Mark as a source (Luke even tells us he uses sources in Luke 1:1-3!)

Essay 2: Becoming an Academic Researcher of Happiness
During the first four week writing essay helpEssay 2: Becoming an Academic Researcher of Happiness
During the first four weeks of the summer semester, we have thought and written about
happiness from a variety of different angles. In this next part of the class, you will be given the
chance to deepen your understanding of the course theme through research.
For your second essay for the class, you are invited to use research to answer ONE of the
following questions:
1. What is the relationship between money and happiness?
Or
2. What is the relationship between technology (especially social media) and
happiness?
As with your previous essay, you are welcome to use your personal experience and ideas in
answering one of the questions above. However, this essay will also include two new elements:
1. A thesis statement that presents your argument and the reasons for that argument. 2. The use
of a peer-reviewed academic source from the CSI Library databases. Both new elements are
explained below.
All together you should use 3 sources for this essay, including the source from the library
databases.
Constructing a Thesis Statement
A thesis statement is a single sentence that expresses the main argument or claim of the writer
and that also gives the key reasons for this claim. In a short essay such as this one, the thesis
statement is often placed in the last line of the introduction. Here is a useful guide to writing
thesis statements:

l
Don’t feel any pressure to come up with your thesis statement before you start writing and
researching your essay. It is often helpful to read about your topic first before arriving at a
position. And sometimes your final thesis may be not be constructed until you have finished the
first draft of your essay.
Researching your Topic
As with the previous essay, you should use outside sources as co-thinkers for your project. You
can use the ideas in the sources to develop your argument. You may also find useful statistics or
facts in the sources that you use. As mentioned above, one of the sources you use should be a
peer-reviewed source from the library database. Here is the Library website:

Your response/ essay helpSynthesize the information and ideas presented for your response.
Your response/evaluation on the topic, based on your notes, is your thesis. Body paragraphs need to support your thesis by explaining the reasons for your position and citing examples from the sources provided in the Group chosen.
FOR EXAMPLE: For the readings on the subject of “Social Media,” you may decide to focus on how Social Media enhances (or doesn’t enhance) community building. The readings cover several topics related to social media–such as the marketing and business models used–but for a short, 2 to 3-page paper you’ll need to focus on a specific topic.
What does each source “say” about that point? After looking at the different sources, what is your opinion (your thesis) on that point?

INFO:
Policies and Procedures to Advance D&I Initiatives
Human Resources also plays a pivotal role to ensure that each policy
and procedure that is developed and implemented apply equitably and
fairly across all dimensions of diversity (i.e., race, gender, culture,
religion, ethnicity), and across all functions (i.e., finance,
manufacturing, IT) and all locations, which may have highly diverse
cultures within those locations.
Furthermore, policies may include suppliers and other collaborating
individuals and organizations, in which the implications for these
relationships must be considered. One thing to note is that
implementation is not always identical across all locations, functions,
or dimensions. Therefore, there should be flexibility in the design of
policy to accommodate the unique local needs of each situation
(Buengeler, Leroy, & Stobbelier).
To add, the implementation of policy can be somewhat challenging and complex. For example:
Remaining aware that the cultural assumptions of an organization may not be universally shared by other cultures.
Translating diversity objectives and policies into applicable local languages.
Ensuring that the diversity policy is not founded on unvalidated cultural assumptions made by an organization.
Recognizing that a “one size fits all” approach concerning diversity
policy will not work across all countries. This is due to the
uniqueness of each country in its local laws, customs, culture, and
traditions.
Recognizing that an organization’s diversity policy will need to be
continually reevaluated and updated to meet the diverse needs of that
organization at any given time.
In summary, when implementing D&I policies for a diverse
organization, it is important to ensure that the details of the
implementation are thoroughly considered and followed up on.

the agenda of the health policy
the competing agendas of the stakeholders and the public opinion regarding the policy
the MSN Essential that supports the master’s prepared nurse leader participation in the chosen health policy
state and federal initiatives that affect the policy
Discussion 1
Week 1 Initial Post
As the largest group in the global healthcare workforce, nurses are in a unique position to see how health policies affect patients and communities. All nurses can advocate for change whether it be at their place of work, professional organizations, or directly with elected officials and government agencies.
An example, The Safe Patient Handling Act passed in 2014, which was led by New York State nurses and had a significant impact on practice at the bedside (NYSNA, N.D). The purpose of this legislation was to reduce injuries by helping to implement best practices for using equipment to lift, transfer and reposition patients. When safe patient handling laws are passed, and the programs are properly implemented the results can be impressive (Weinmeyer, 2016).
However, there has been some resistance to the implementation of the safe patient handling laws and or the lax development and oversight of existing programs. Resistance by stakeholders have been framed by politicians and hospital lobbyists as keeping unnecessary burdensome regulations and costly mandates out of the hospitals. In 2017 nursing assistants had the second highest number of musculoskeletal disorders and healthcare workers alone had over 18,000 missed workdays due to back injuries (OSHA,2019). The MSN essential that best supports the advanced practice nurse participation in this health policy would be essentials five, quality and safety (Giddens et al., 2022). State and federal initiatives affecting this policy include funding needed for equipment , training and implementation within practice settings.

Last night during lecture, in framing the discussion about the significance of b college essay helpLast night during lecture, in framing the discussion about the significance of bioterrorism to public health practice, I mentioned the fact that one significant public health-oriented incident (i.e., biological agent release, major disaster event, pandemic) can paralyze not only other important public health services, but many significant functions in a community. Members of our class then provided approximately 10 examples of ways in which COVID-19 has affected the community at large. Likewise, there are health threats and issues other than COVID-19 that affect our day-to-day life. You are to complete the assignment ‘COVID Isn’t Everything,’ which is referenced on your syllabus under the Bioterrorism lecture of last night, by completing the following:
1. Consider the fact that while COVID-19 is ridiculously important to all of us, there are other ways in which our lives have been positively or negatively impacted by public health. You are to select a way in which your life has been impacted by a specific public health issue, and provide a 300 word write up (approximately three to four paragraphs, though you can do a word count) describing ways in which your selected public health issue has affected your life and the life of others in the community.
2. Your write up should cite the concern with a degree of specificity, and should succinctly summarize the way(s) in which this issue impacts day to day life.
3. Your write up should not only briefly describe ways in which this issue/problem affects your life and the lives of others, but should also include at least one suggestion for how public health measures or collaborative efforts might provide greater health and stability in addressing this issue (i.e., improve this issue).
