Albert Chinualumogu Achebe – Things Fall ApartEssay Preview: Albert Chinualumogu Achebe – Things Fall ApartReport this essayThings Fall ApartBy Chinua AchebeBantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group, Inc.New York, New YorkCopyright 1959Author BiographyAlbert Chinualumogu Achebe, or Chinua Achebe, was born November 16, 1930, in Ogidi, Nigeria. His parents were Janet N. Achebe, and Isaiah Okafo, a teacher in a missionary school. Mr. Achebe was educated at the University College of Ibadan, but also attended Government College in 1944. He wrote his first novel, Things Fall Apart, in 1958. During the Biafran War, he was in the Biafran government service. After the war, Mr. Achebe taught at several universities, both in Nigeria and in the United States. In 1967 he cofounded a publishing company with a fellow author, Christopher Okigbo. Mr. Achebes later works include No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God, and Anthills of the Savannah. A serious car accident left Mr. Achebe paralyzed from the waist down in 1990. The majority of his novels deal with Africans struggle to free themselves from European colonial and political influences, due to his experiences in the Biafran War and the Nigerian Civil War.

Main CharactersOkonkwo- Okonkwo is the main character in the novel. He is a distinguished man in the clan, and has been since a young age, when he established himself as a skilled wrestler. He had a very lazy father, and this was a source of much embarrassment to him, so to overcome this, he is an overbearing husband, and father. He feels that he always has to prove that he is different than his father, which is eventually his downfall.

Unoka- Unoka is Okonkwos father. He was a very lazy man and always an embarrassment to his family, especially his son. He is the reason that Okonkwo is so scared of failing.

Nwoye- Nwoye is Okonkwos son, and he is lazy and complacent, like his grandfather. Okonkwos way of changing this is to be especially hard on him, which drives him further away, eventually to join the missionaries.

Ezinma- Ezinma is Okonkwos daughter, and he is proud of her, even though he wont show this because he thinks that it is a weakness. She is smart and pretty. Okonkwo wishes that she were a boy so that he could pass on his knowledge and fortune to her.

Mr. Brown- Mr. Brown is the first missionary to arrive in Umuofia. He is nice enough to the clan, so they decide to let him stay, but soon enough he brings others, both from the clan and from outside, into the church. The missionaries are what eventually bring Okonkwo to take his own life.

Principal Points of PlotConflict- The conflict in the novel Things Fall Apart is the conflict that Okonkwo has a lazy father and his struggle to be different and better than him.

Complication- The climax of the novel is when Okonkwo accidentally shoots a member of the clan and is banished for seven years. This is the climax because it signals the beginning of Okonkwos fall from a distinguished member of the clan.

Climax- The complication in the novel is when the missionaries come to Umuofia and create tension among the clan and between the clan and the church.Conclusion- The conclusion in Things Fall Apart is when Okonkwo hangs himself in a tree. This is the ultimate way for him to differentiate himself from his father.

ThemeThe theme of Things Fall Apart is that you can never be satisfied with yourself if you are constantly trying to show people that you are something that you are not. Okonkwo had a lazy father, a very embarrassing thing in his culture. He feels that somehow, he must show people that he is better than that, so he works very hard to make a name for himself. Once he has done that, he is afraid to let up and enjoy his success, because he thinks people will respect him less if he doesnt work as hard. Therefore, Okonkwo can never be satisfied with himself because he is constantly trying to show people that he is something that he is not. The only way that he thinks he can let up this faÐ*ade is when he is dead, which is how he resolves his problem. Proof of this is when he kills himself because he cannot deal with

the fact that the missionaries have taken over his village.Five Quotes From the Novel1. The narrator is talking. Chapter ThreeWith a father like Unoka, Okonkwo did not have the start in life, which many young men had. He neither inherited a barn nor a title, nor even a young wife. But in spite of these disadvantages, he had begun even in his fathers lifetime to lay the foundations of a prosperous future. It was slow and painful. But he threw himself into it like one possessed. And indeed he was possessed by the fear of his fathers contemptible life and shameful death.

This is an important excerpt from the novel because it basically explains why Okonkwo acts the way he does and why he is so determined not to take the same path as his father. It also sets the tone for the novel and lets the reader know what Okonkwo is like.

Two stories which explore a male/female relationships from a particular point of view.

Seeing Anyone an excellent short story by Tom Vowler. The story is told in first person narrative through the male character, Steve. He is paying a visit to Sarah – his wife in the past – due to the ill state of their dog. Through the story the readers acknowledge Steves feeling for Sarah but are left to make their own judgement on Sarahs feelings.

When Steve first meets Sarah, he waits for the musk of Chanel to hit him. He also cant resist glancing at her finger on her left hand. His desire for the musk smell and action depicts his cupidity towards Sarah and is not over her. However, the Chanel musk does not hit him how he expects it and in addition to this disappointment he finds her finger bare. From the beginning of the story the readers feel empathy for Steve.

When Steve and Sarah are sitting outside near the Misty, their dog, Steve describes the atmosphere around them, a warm breeze weaves between us this metaphor compares a breeze to yarn of fabric being woven. Weaving is interlacing two pieces of yarn to form fabric. In respect, Steve feels Sarah and himself being interlaced together by the breeze to form closeness. This creates a vivid image in the readers mind of Steves desires.

The reader acknowledge that Steve has never moved in from Sarah after the break up: I loaded them into the van in that other time, Id ask to keep one, but she said they mated well with each other and needed to be close, which only made me love her more. Steves love increases for Sarah after their break up even though she refuses to let him have his way. His admiration for her defeats all and makes him look at the situation with an optimistic attitude. Once again the writer persuades the readers to feel sorry for Steve.

As the story is told from Steves viewpoint the reader has a greater insight into his feelings. However, from what we know of Sarahs emotions it is not clear how she feels towards Steve. Her emotions are vague and fluctuating. The readers understand that Sarah is in a current relationship with someone which indicates she has step forward from the past. Also at one point Sarah takes Steves name when talking to him, as if she was building a wall between them. Steve realises this too.

On the other hand the language suggests that there is a possibility that Sarah may have some desire for Steve. As Steves visit comes near to its end he searches for her love like a distant star thats seen but no longer there. The simile compares Sarahs love for Steve with a star. Stars have a considerably long life, in respect to average human lifespan. This illustrates the possibility

Unhappy Artists And True Nature Of Kafka college essay help free

Worthless SacrificeEssay Preview: Worthless SacrificeReport this essayI saw so many unhappy artists in my life. They get addicted to drugs and alcohol and even commit suicides because of their dissatisfaction. I always wondered what the causes of these behaviors. What prompts them to react these extreme ways? In the critical essay “A Hunger Artist: Overview” Grace Eckley observes the same problems. She reveals the true nature of Kafkas protagonist, explaining in details why it is psychologically difficult to be a rejected artist and why his internal world becomes meaningless in every way. I completely support Eckleys reasoning, and will argue that a misunderstood artists life will be always unhappy and purposeless.

First of all, it is crucial to understand that art is a mutual acceptance between an artist and his or audience. Art is always created for a specific audience. An artist would never exist if he or she didnt seek for the audiences attention and recognition. When artists see any reward from the fans, their life gains the meaning. Artists success in life directly depends on their audience. They need it like air; they rely on it like a drug. The reader can notice how proud and respected the artist felt when Kafka wrote: “At one time the whole town took a lively interest in the hunger artist. Everybody wanted to see him at least once a day. The artist gave a courteous nod, answering questions with a constrained

smile.” Positive public reactions motivated and inspired him for his art. He trusted his audience, and any distrust from their side brought pain and psychological intolerance. Giving the example about how suspicious behavior hurt the artist, Kafka says: “Nothing annoyed the artist more than these watchers; they made him miserable.” When peoples curiosity and belief in the artist fades, his life fades gradually in response; the same way as his body reacts to hunger. It impacts not only his professional career, but also his physical life. Kafkas character was lusting for public appreciation, saying: “I always wanted you to admire my fasting.” After these words he died. It explains how he deliberately devoted himself to his audience. He sacrificed his own interests, but even more important, he sacrificed his biological needs which are essential for life. Eckley describes his meaningless existence, stating: “With a martyr complex, he exploits his animal nature: living in a cage” and “the artist conversely refuses both food and exercise.” He lost his identity as a person. It is not a coincidence that Kafka doesnt give his artist a name, pointing out that he is not unique and he is one of many similar. When the hunger artist lost his audience and when the connection between him and his fans was ruined, his life terminated, emotionally and physically.

Secondly, any audience seeks entertainment in art, and if an artist is unable to provide it, his

Ben & Jerry’s Fair Trade Campaign

BEN & JERRY’s Fair Trade Campaign

Ben and Jerry’s offers some of the world’s most unique and innovative ice cream flavors. Yet, the company’s success is not solely rooted in its ever-expanding variety. Their emphasis on integrity and social responsibility, reflected in the mission statement: “leading with progressive values in our business,” helps consumer to align themselves with Ben and Jerry’s as a brand.

Ben and Jerry’s mission oriented campaign:

In 2010, Ben and Jerry’s launched its ‘Fair Trade Campaign’. This is a significant commitment towards purchasing the ingredients for their product from a Fair Trade certified organization globally. The mission of this campaign is to eventually, by the end of 2013, have all Ben and Jerry’s ingredients come from Fair Trade. Ben and Jerry’s goal is to buy ingredients from farmers and treat them fairly so they can have the greatest impact on improving the lives of farmers. In other words, they want to stop the exploitation of farmers, strengthen their communities, and protect the environment.

Ben and Jerry’s is a forward thinking environmental company as well as a social justice company, but this doesn’t come without a cost. According to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield “the famers in the developing world will get a decent price for their products … we will make slightly less profit, but we will still get by.” Ben and Jerry’s want to lead the way by showing how a main stream company can do fair trade and still be very successful. Ben and Jerry’s also hope that this initiative will be taken up by other companies.

The publicized campaign:

Besides various statements to the public via news reports, YouTube videos and press releases on the company’s website, the Fair Trade Logo is found on the front of the cardboard boxes on each of their 28 Fair Trade flavors.

One of the most popular Fair Trade Flavors, “Late Night Snack”, was launched in the Jimmy Fallon

Much Overwork And Basic Needs Of Alderfer write essay help

Mission, Vision, and Values of Coca ColaEssay Preview: Mission, Vision, and Values of Coca ColaReport this essayAre you a workaholic? If so, what makes you overwork? The three basic needs of Alderfers ERG theory explain how people are motivated at work. Many people overwork to make more money for Existence needs, feel a sense of beings in their life for Relatedness needs, and feel a sense of accomplishment for Growth needs (Kreitner 97). work is an expression of money, a sense of belonging, and a sense of accomplishment. When the more people desire them, then the more they work. Overwork provides us with not only great experiences but also terrible results as well. Too much overwork may become a serious addiction which causes unbalanced life and unpleasant relationship between a worker and other people like family and friends. Therefore, it is important to keep the balance between work and life in our life.

The Role of Work In Work And Life | Theories of Ego and Its Emotional Value | Pulsing The Essential Value of Work In Lifeby Denny and the others in this book argue that the nature of work is shaped by an external experience and the need for a sense of purpose and connection, each of which requires a sense of purpose and connection. This relationship cannot be attained by simply exercising the creative arts, the arts of pleasure and the arts of suffering, or by doing the creative arts and/or performing them. Those with such a sense of purpose are usually highly motivated, and need constant stimulation, but they are also highly conscious of the need to be “successful” and not “daring.” They are seeking an identity and an identity with which to survive in the world. Overwork, then, is the primary focus of our attention, or work. When we overwork, the way we work becomes an illusion, and we think the work is too much to handle, and thus our self-image becomes “boring” (Mantra-Reed, 1973).

The Benefits and Disadvantages of Working With People of Color or More Workers of Color by Dorys E. White explains one of the many benefits of collaborating. “I’ve worked many meetings and meetings [with people of color] and been very impressed with how many of them I saw. Most of them were beautiful, but when people of color spoke up about how their lives were on fire, I realized the power of their stories (their stories were so beautiful they made me laugh), their resilience and their courage even more amazing, and what was not lost was that it was not just a story of how they had been through it for years but was part of what was truly an incredible story. “It’s wonderful to see so many people who love to work, as well as so many people who are so good at raising children.”

The Power of Work and Work in Human Kin | Work and Loneliness by Lierre Keith-Vallée. Work can be a necessary part of the job as well as the most valuable part of a social life. A workplace where a person or group of people are at the work table serves as a means by which a new person is educated and accepted to live within the community. As Keith-Vallée points out, “working as a workaholic doesn’t bring about “success.” It has to do with the need to live within our own lives through our work and work-creativities. When we talk about living from an unhealthy work work and work life, as it’s often the case, I find that the person has developed the capacity to live a work life. They see a new way to live, and live with something else, and are thus able to make a conscious choice. Once again, I think there’s a critical need for a positive work ethic. In our culture, we make sure we have a working understanding of our own work and our own work ethic; but in reality, in our society we have to work through those things to make progress. And in times of stress and the need to maintain good work ethic, work is also important when working at home, as we must constantly evaluate and discuss things that bring us joy in the process (Ekman 85).

The Impact of Work on Achieving Human Happiness by Linda T. Shanks. It’s been an important, but not universally supported, article for many years. This piece tries to help us better understand how work can

There is, however, an external pressure from a manager or an organization that makes people work harder regardless of self-satisfaction or self-actualization. According to Baldoni, “eight of 10 workers were disengaged” in the work place. Also “As many as six in 10 are looking to exit, according to the Hay Group. Some 85 percent of those not looking are staying still because the job market remains weak” (Baldoni). That means that people work hard in spite of dissatisfaction, underpayment, or low morale because they think that the recession of economy keeps going on and they do not want to lose their job during the period. It may lead to job dissatisfaction, stress, and a decreased a sense of accomplishment.

Working on social media, where the company and CEO are also part of this process can help alleviate this feeling of worklessness. When a friend or employee posts to them that they are happy with what they are getting, many people on social media feel they have been in a tough spot and are willing to work harder to get what they have. This can also be useful for making others feel better after receiving their reward or when a company member thinks that they will make a great worker when there is nothing better to do. These comments can help encourage your clients and employee to continue the conversation, even if there are a few “ifs” when working on new products or new tasks or even your own personal experiences.

Baldoni, et al. “Social media can help people to feel more empowered, confident, and satisfied. We are looking to learn how to use social networks to better communicate with the more than 5 million people who visit www.facebook.com/baldoni at a regular time.

Baldoni, et al. “Social Media Can Help Me Feel Better about my Decision Making: Myself, a Customer and a Product.” A Workplace Survey 2014

Baldoni, et al. “Social media use. Some clients have noticed that their social media use has changed dramatically. I am aware that I have had several successful interviews in this area. As it can seem daunting to be able and willing to do the work without giving up, I decided that I needed to do a little research. I discovered a few articles on social media by the way. They also include my responses to job seekers over the years. I believe that these have helped reduce negative feelings of social contact. You can search for more articles from this site. One of the things that I discovered was that social media has become so much easier in my life that what was really an unfulfilled dream has become more likely to occur. We often do not have any information at home that would allow for such a thought or thought to occur. While some will realize (without realizing it but knowing that it is very important that we have an idea of what we want) that it doesn’t mean that our actions in life are so bad, we should be able to control what we say, act, and think and that this affects us in large ways. But that is where social media has come in. The majority of job seekers, even the ones who are not interested in working hard, want an immediate reward or are not satisfied with an outcome. However, this reward, as long as we are productive, is always not permanent and so we need to think creatively about what we want to see in return. That means that we need people to use our tools and experiences to motivate

U.S.-Islamist War And North America college admission essay help

Next 100 YearsNext 100 YearsThe book starts with brief Introduction to the American Age. During the 20th century, geopolitics changed every two decades: “when it comes to the future, the only thing we can be sure of is that common sense will be wrong.” Presently, the dominance of the United States is the major geopolitical fact. “The U.S.-Islamist war is already ending and the next conflict is in sight,” with Russia, not China. Later in the 21st century, Japan, Turkey, and Poland will emerge as world powers. As important as technological innovation will be “the end of the population explosion.” The American Southwest will become “predominantly Mexican.” The 21st century will not change “the permanent human condition,” but “will be extraordinary in two senses: it will be the beginning of a new age, and it will see a new “global power astride the world.”

In 1878, the U.S. government announced a plan to build an intercontinental ballistic missile submarine. Chapter one is related to the American dominance over the world. American power continues to dominate the world, with military power, especially naval, leading the way; the United States can “never be invaded”. Through sea power and commerce, in 1500-2000 Europe came to dominate the world even as it tore itself apart internally. There are two different geopolitical views: Halford John Mackinders “command the Heartland” view and Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahans “control the sea” view; “both were right, in a sense,” but Mahans view proved more likely; “the Russians never had a chance.” It is its ability to control sea lanes that makes North America “the center of gravity of the international system.” But America “is in the earliest phase of its power and it is not fully civilized. America, like Europe in the sixteenth century, is still barbaric. Its culture is unformed”, Cultures have three phases: barbarism (naïve belief in self), civilization (combination of belief and skepticism), and decadence (cynical disbelief).

Chapter two talks about The U.S.-Jihadist War. “The American Age began in December 1991, when the Soviet Union collapsed.” The U.S. has achieved the strategic goals in “the U.S.-jihadist war” of disrupting the Muslim world in the unstable “earthquake zone” stretching from SE Europe to Kazakhstan and Pakistan. Given that the U.S. “is, historically, a warlike country,” from a wider perspective its response to 9/11 made “sense,” despite its apparently “chaotic” and “random” character. “War is central to the American experience; it is built into American culture and deeply rooted in American culture.” The U.S. has five geopolitical goals: “(1) to dominate North America with its army; (2) to eliminate any threat in the Western hemisphere; (3) to control maritime approaches to the U.S. with its navy; (4) to dominate the worlds oceans; (5) to prevent any other nation from challenging its naval power.” The Iraq and Afghan wars “were minor affairs” and “rhetoric aside, the United States has no overriding interest in peace in Eurasia.” The international system is “badly out of balance”; no country can challenge the U.S., giving it “a huge margin of error.” “The United States wins as long as al Qaeda loses.”

In chapter three author talks about the changes in technology, culture which we will face in near future. The defense of the traditional family is ending. The population explosion will be coming to an end by 2100, thanks to birth control and the empowerment of women. “There is now a period built into life patterns where people are going to be sexually active but not yet able to support themselves financially. There is also a period in which they can support themselves and are sexually active, but choose not to reproduce. The entire pattern of traditional life is collapsing, and no clear alternative patterns are emerging yet, this trend cannot be reversed.” The conservatism and traditionalism of blue- and pink-collar working classes can be explained from these trends. The computer is an example of American pragmatism, because English is “the language of computing,” American culture is irresistible.

Chapter four ” The New Fault Lines” talks about new global changes in certain geographical areas. Five areas have the potential for major disrupting geopolitical developments: the Pacific Basin, Russia, Europe, the Islamic world, and Mexico. Russia reversed its decline in Ukraine in early 2005 and is now extending its sphere of influence. The political unity of Europe is greatly exaggerated; Europe is “a collection of nation-states, still shell-shocked by World War II, the Cold War, and the loss of empire,” in which Germanys position is “unpredictable.” In

Ben and Jerry Case

What should Bob Holland do?Though the consumer preferences in ice-cream industry has been shifting from super premium to less expensive premium ice creams, it would not be a good idea for Ben & Jerry’s to expand in the premium market at present. Production capabilities at B&J are seriously constrained to meet even the present demand so expanding into other product areas would not be feasible. Expansion in premium segment will also cause dilution of differentiation factor and loss of brand loyalty Almost 10% of production cost of ice creams is accounted by plastic containers for packaging. Consistent with its social mission, B&J should introduce paper based eco-packaging. This would help the company to overcome criticism for genuineness  of its social mission and also reduce costs to attract back the increasingly cost conscious buyersBob Holland with his past experience in both distribution and manufacturing, should work on increasing the efficiencies of distribution and manufacturing processes at B&JHolland should encourage proper installation of state-of-the art technology in the plants and enforce efficient processes to improve productivity and reduce costsDirect to store delivery distribution system which would reduce inefficiencies and cost and also ensure better product placementFocus on marketing and advertising instead of relying on word of mouth, especially for the newly introduced products.Strong emphasis on marketing research and demand forecasting, so that unpopular products can be eliminated and new products based on consumer preferences can be introducedNation-wide product delivery from just one centralised location should be avoided as it is a highly energy intensive process, which increases distribution costs and also hurts B&J’s claim to environmental responsibilityHolland should overcome the companies’ conservative debt policy to borrow money for long term investment in manufacturing facilities to meet increasing product demands and also look for lucrative market opportunities overseas

Software Licensing And Piracy

In 1993 worldwide illegal copying of domestic and

international software cost $12.5 billion to the software industry,

with a loss of $2.2 billion in the United States alone. Estimates show

that over 40 percent of U.S. software company revenues are generated

overseas, yet nearly 85 percent of the software industrys piracy

losses occurred outside of the United States borders. The Software

Publishers Association indicated that approximately 35 percent of the

business software in the United States was obtained illegally, which

30 percent of the piracy occurs in corporate settings. In a corporate

setting or business, every computer must have its own set of original

software and the appropriate number of manuals. It is illegal for a

corporation or business to purchase a single set of original software

and then load that software onto more than one computer, or lend, copy

or distribute software for any reason without the prior written

consent of the software manufacturer. Many software managers are

concerned with the legal compliance, along with asset management and

costs at their organizations. Many firms involve their legal

departments and human resources in regards to software distribution

and licensing.

Information can qualify to be property in two ways; patent law

and copyright laws which are creations of federal statutes, pursuant

to Constitutional grant of legislative authority. In order for the

government to prosecute the unauthorized copying of computerized

information as theft, it must first rely on other theories of

information-as-property. Trade secret laws are created by state law,

and most jurisdictions have laws that criminalize the violations of a

trade-secret holders rights in the secret. The definition of a trade

secret varies somewhat from state to state, but commonly have the same

elements. For example, AThe information must be secret, Anot of public

knowledge or of general knowledge in the trade or business, a court

will allow a trade secret to be used by someone who discovered or

developed the trade secret independently or if the holder does not

take adequate precautions to protect the secret.

In 1964 the United States Copyright Office began to register

software as a form of literary expression. The office based its

decision on White-Smith Music Co. v. Apollo , where the Supreme Court

determined that a piano roll used in a player piano did not infringe

upon copyrighted music because the roll was part of a mechanical

device. Since a computer program is textual, like a book, yet also

mechanical, like the piano roll in White-Smith, the Copyright Office

granted copyright protection under the rule of doubt.

In 1974, Congress created the Natural Commission on New

Technological Uses (CONTU) to investigate whether the evolving

computer technology field outpaced the existing copyright laws and

also to determine the extent of copyright protection for computer

Giovanni supports her assertions by defining her meaning of happiness. The author’s purpose is to inform the people of her happiness in her childhood so that the people who are looking from the outside know her perspective. The author writes in various tones, at times she is formal and also humorous, for everyone.Giovanni start of explaining how much of a drag childhood was if you were black. I understood what she was talking about as she began describing the Woodlawn with no toilet, the big tubs, and her father’s pain. At the moment I felt sympathy for her, but at I kept reading it all made sense. She did not really mean that’s what she felt but that people of other monetary statues thought. Other people could not understand but she was happy throughout all this events.        As everyone thought her life was hard, yet she actually was very happy. “Black love is Black wealth” She used this metaphor to say that, as long as she had her family, she was wealthy in happiness. This made me think of how I grew up. We did not have a lot of money but as long as we were in family everybody was happy.

Man Name Ivan Pavlov And Ivan Pavlov free college essay help: free college essay help

Pavllovian Response (humor)Essay Preview: Pavllovian Response (humor)Report this essayHave you ever wanted to make a dog salivate on command? No? Me either, but if you ever want to you can give your thanks to a man name Ivan Pavlov. Who is this deity of digestion? Ivan Pavlov has lived a very distinguished life and has even won a Nobel Prize for his work.

Pavlov was born in a small village in Russia. Pavlovs dog was born a poor black child in eastern Moscow. When Ivan was young, his family had hoped that he would become a priest, but since he preferred pursuing science as opposed to young boys, he enrolled in the University of St. Petersburg. There he studied to become a Chemist, Physiologist, and Gynacologist of the stars. He received his doctorate in 1879. Afterward he continued his studies into the things that interested him most, blood circulation and digestion. Meanwhile Pavlovs Dog was having a rough time in the dangerous parts of the infamous “Marina District”. Ivan however was having the time of his life attending scientific conventions, scientific cocktail parties, and scientific games of “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”. He became a very popular person in the scientific scene, especially with the Imperial Medical Academy, whose hobbies just so happened to include circulating blood and digesting things.

Pavlov and Heideck were the first to introduce the idea of “magical medicines for digestion and circulation,” to which the Russian and American scientists added “magical medicines for the circulation of bodily gases” .

The new idea came about when Soviet scientists, with aid from some of their former Russian comrades, were trying to use the American chemists, Dr. Robert J. Kuznets and Dr. William S. Oakes, in order to get an exact formula for a serum called DMA-B. To ensure the accuracy and simplicity of their work at the time, however, the American chemists had to rely upon the fact that their team failed to supply the secret formula they had needed. One would hope that, by making a serum the method for obtaining a serum for human use was not abandoned, but simply put into use.

The results obtained from the successful extraction of the serum was, the first time that the Russian Chemists of their time had tried the same serum method, and the first time that the Russian Chemists of the time had tried to use the same serum method.

According to the formula proposed by Kuznets, which Kuznets had been looking for for months or even years, the Russian Chemists applied DMAB to the urine. But the urine failed to absorb it; and the results were even worse.

On March 3, 1881, Dr. J. M. Krieger performed the first stage assay in Russia, in a laboratory which he had been conducting since 1891.

The results of the tests, which included the urine of Dr. P. G. Oakes — an extremely talented chemist — were of the highest quality and the best obtained from all the Russian Chemists of the world.

After the results of the first stage were announced, Dr. Kuznets went on to make another attempt in the Russian laboratory on another “Magical Potion,” this time with the help of the American chemist, Dr. William S. Otilson.

As for Otilson’s work with R. Kuznets (which appeared quite often in the Russia & North America Journal of 1798), this time a new type of formula was being sought to be obtained.

A special formula of the most remarkable results had now been obtained by Dr. Kuznets himself, and so his attempt was made. The solution of the Magister B. Kuznets in a white, crystallized red color had been applied to a solution of Magister B. with pure white water to see how it changed color, and after a moment the crystals had been dissolved. On his return to Russia in 1881, Kuznets had made the formula.

The result was startling.

One day while visiting the Imperial Medical Academy, he ran into a homeless dog roaming the street in front of the Academy. Ivan thought that since he had let his parents down by not becoming a priest, helping this poor unfortanate mutt would put him back in good standings not only with his parents but also with god. Silly him.

The work that made Ivan Pavlov a household name in psychology actually began as a study in digestion. His study was the digestive system of dogs, more specifically, his. He was trying to figure out the interaction of salivation and the action of the dogs stomach. He asked his studies “are salinization and the actions of the stomach closely linked by reflexes in the autonomic nervous system?” The studies had this to say, “Yes, without salivation, the stomach didnt get the message to start digesting.” Ivan then replied, “thank you.”

Pavlov wanted to throw a wrench in this system and see if this process could be stimulated by an external activity. In this case, he rang a metronome, but if you kiddies want to try

Marine Corps Liaison And Lackland Air Force Base a level english language essay help

Miscommunication in the WorkplaceEssay Preview: Miscommunication in the WorkplaceReport this essayMiscommunication in the WorkplaceThe miscommunication I have experienced with work is a recent one. The first week of February I received my orders to attend the traffic management and collision investigation school aboard Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. The orders specifically stated that I was supposed to apply for funding that covers on-base lodging and that I request a single room due to the amount of work required during the course. So I applied and received funding for lodging and daily per diem for food. Early last week I was sent an email from the Marine Corps liaison here aboard Lackland Air Force Base, a Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant, regarding the rules and regulation for the Traffic Management and Collision Investigation School. The letter stated that Sergeants and below MUST stay in the barracks, where lodging is free, due to lack of government funding. It also stated in the letter that there would be no exceptions to this rule and if marines attending this school had already received funding that it must be paid back to TECOM (Testing and Evaluation Command) upon our return to our home duty stations.

Upon arrival to San Antonio I checked into the barracks aboard Lackland AFB. Knowing that I had obligations and responsibilities to the University of Phoenix and to my team mates in class I quickly checked for a Wi-Fi signal available in the barracks. Unfortunately, to my surprise, there was no signal at all. Since all marines here aboard Lackland AFB are temporary personnel, they do not provide cable or internet. This was a huge setback for me, given my new obligation taking online classes. During the check in process I was told, to my relief, that there were no rooms available and that I would have to stay in on-base lodging; which is essentially a hotel aboard base. This hotel is not free. I quickly contacted my chain of command here and notified them of the non-availability in the barracks. The Marine Corps liaison instructed me to check into the Gateway Inn (on-base lodging) and that he would ensure my TECOM funding was approved.

“I found myself in a strange position, since the military and universities are not as dedicated as I hoped to become. They should be better at keeping a low profile and doing what’s best for the overall mission – as a commander, recruiter, and recruiter. If you are the Marine Corps or the Navy, you’re still a Commandant, not a Commandant. That said, they are just doing things that they’ve been told you should do. They’re making a lot of noise about a bunch of things they should do. And when they do get done they’re probably in trouble, because they might have a few more things on their minds than they did when they were recruiting.”

With the departure of Commandant, I found a situation of public trust with the university. The people at the Gateway Inn made sure I didn’t get a room in the barracks. I found myself in a strange position, because the military and universities are not as dedicated as I hoped to become. They should be better at keeping a low profile and doing what’s best for the overall mission – as a commander, recruiter, and recruiter. If you are the Marine Corps or the Navy, you’re still a Commandant, not a Commandant. That says nothing about you working with the Marine Corps or the Navy.

The problem with this scenario is, that any potential problem is not necessarily a military event. The problem is that the Marine Corps is a nonfunctional organization which is in a constant state of development, planning and implementation in an attempt to keep its service, mission, and legacy as safe as possible. I would say that you do NOT have to worry about what the next course and course series is like.

I did not receive an offer from any other university, if I had had one, which would have raised some questions with them, such as if I am willing to go to a new Marine Corps service. As for the Gateway Inn, what I had a problem with was lack of communication with the campus (the campus is not directly in charge of the Gateway Inn though), this happened frequently. It was one of those moments that I had to sit down and do a little outreach to get a response from the campus. In all, I found that the problem was with our campus-wide communication and social media. But unfortunately, I didn’t get to see an instance from the university in which a problem existed even though I was at a university within the United States. This came to my mind because there were two other Marines (as well as two other Navy SEALs) who were assigned to Lackland when I first checked into the barracks. They were stationed at Fort Lee (on the south shore of Florida), and as you note, it’s nearly four miles from Ft. Lee where they had to report to the school in advance of the trip. They felt like they couldn’t talk with the incoming student because it was far from their facility. This was my first time in the academy, so my thoughts were always going to be, “how does this student feel?” The only other student who understood is me. When I first began to go to the university, the University of Arkansas, I felt as though there were more and more student organizations and organizations who seemed to take up a vacant space at the Gateway Inn so I figured, “well, I’ve heard of the Gateway Inn.” They had great experiences. You can find a picture of the new campus that we would eventually build at the Gateway Inn. They had a nice program of social media (which still exists, though it has been shut down). That is all that I understood.<

Immediately I contacted the liaison and informed him of what I had been told. He instructed me to stay in the female room until another male room became available. Exxon Mobil

Exxon Mobil is listed as one of the worldÐs largest fortune 500 companies according to Fortune Magazine, 2006. Because of its size, I became interested in this company for my research paper on corporate social responsibility.

Exxon Mobile has a rich history that dates back to 1859. It all started when two individuals drilled an oil well in Pennsylvania. In 1870, Rockefeller and his associates formed the Standard Oil Company. Many businessmen, such as Thomas Edison and the Wright Brothers began to depend on oil for their inventions. In 1926, Standard Oil Company changed its name to Esso. In 1959, the company developed a famous slogan Дput a tiger in your tank.Д In 1972, the company changes its name to the Exxon Corporation (www.exxonmobil.com).

On March 24 1989, the tanker Exxon Valdez runs aground in Prince Williams sound, Alaska. This was a tragic accident that the company deeply regrets. It all began when the Valdez was traveling towards California when it hit a coral reef. As a result, of this accident, significant quantities of oil began to seep into the waters. According to most, the action to contain the spill was slow. As a result, the media blamed Exxon for not responding fast enough to the crises. Many of the wildlife including birds, fish and other mammals were killed because of ExxonÐs slow response to the spill. This spill became the l

largest spill ever in U.S waters. The company unfortunately had to pay an estimated amount of

$2.1 billion dollars in clean up operations for the spill (Business Ethics, Exxon Valdez pages 396-405).

After the Valdez incident Exxon Mobil realized that something had to be done if they were to shine in the publics eyes once again. They realized that they had to take on the worlds toughest energy challenges and develop a mindset of corporate citizenship. The term Дcorporate citizenshipД according to dictionary.com can be defined as: The extent to which businesses are socially responsible in meeting legal, ethical and economic responsibilities placed on them by shareholders. The aim to create a higher standard of living and quality of life in the community in which it operates, while preserving the profitability of the company for itÐs stakeholders both within and outside the company. The 6 areas of corporate citizenship Exxon chose include: education, health, community development, environment, safety and worldwide giving. Exxon Mobil believes that the key to progress is education. When it comes to the communities they operate in they strive to be a responsible partner. In the area of education, their most important subjects are Math and Science. These subjects play an important role in the energy business. Exxon has a variety of higher education programs to encourage minorities and women to pursue degrees in these subjects. They also host a summer job program for college students which consists of an 8 week paid internship where the student s participate in non-profit work. (exxonmobile.com)

Another corporate citizenship program that Exxon Mobil offers is the Green Team. This is an employment program for youths where jobs range form construction

projects to environmental projects for economically depressed neighborhoods and public parks. (CSR report)

When it comes to health, Exxon Mobile believes that good health is a good path toward development, opportunity and achievement. They also support programs concerning worldwide health issues. They began the African Health Initiative in 2000 where their goals were to fight the spreading of Malaria. The company spent over 40 million dollars with this project.(CSR Report)

Another campaign they started is called ДStop AIDSД. The goals of this campaign were to keep their employees and contractors safe from the AIDS virus. And, to educate HIV positive workers how to live safely with this illness. (CSR Report)

ExxonÐs idea of community development is to gain mutual trust and respect of the partnerships they create. This is an important aspect of corporate citizenship. Some of the other things that Exxon does involves participation in human rights and capacity building. They promote respect for human rights in the communities in which they operate. They promote economic and social development by providing people with the knowledge and skills necessary to do so. (CSR report)

Save The Tiger Fund was started as a partnership with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The main purpose of these fund is to address the threats that tigers are facing and to promote tiger conservation by educating the Дnext generationД.

Exxon support the Leuser Ecosystem which is located in Indonesia. This foundation helps preserve the most biologically diverse ecosystem in the world. When it comes to safety

their motto is ДNobody Gets Hurt.Д This motto provides for an incident

free workplace. To further assist in the safety of their employees and contractors, they have safety teams and safety surveys to address this issue. They also have emergency response teams on all major sites that are specially trained in spills, fires, explosions as well as other things that could endanger their employees and contractors. (CSR report)

Worldwide giving is very important to the Exxon company, they support worldwide programs in health, education and biodiversity. They donate cash goods and services to communities all around the globe. The examples that I have given above demonstrate how Exxon Mobile is serious about its corporate citizenship. (CSR report)

The Exxon company is a 125 year old company that started out as a regional marketer of kerosene. They are the worldÐs largest publicly traded international oil and gas company. Their brands around the world include Exxon, Esso, and Mobil. Exxon Mobil is a leader in many aspects of business. They market there products in many countries around the world, they are also exploring in six continents for natural gas and oil. They have 50 facilities in which they operate in the petrochemical operations
