Korea did not xperience communism until 1948 when the north side and the south side broke up into two different countries: North and South Korea. During WWII, the Allied Forces coerced the Japanese Imperial Forces out of Korea. Communist Russia occupied the north side while the democratic U. S. backed the south. Once tension started building up between Russia and the U. S. , it was impossible to bring the two sides back together as one country. The north took in communism and the south adopted democracy (Shah). When North Korea embraced communism, a young man named Kim II Sung began to lead the new country.

South Korea trictly guards this border because they do not want North Korean spies or any military personnel to enter into their country and gain any information to the north that could affect them. Also, the south wants to defend their borders so much to protect them from communism spreading into their country. Because of the terrible conditions North Korean citizens live through every day, South Korea wants to stop all threats of bringing communism into their country and ruining their own way of life.

Since North Korea became a country, they have had three leaders that have controlled the country under the reigns of communism. North Korea’s first communist leader was Kim II Sung. He, along with the Russian government, founded the country and put communism in place as the North Korean form of government. Kim II Sung set “Juche” as North Korea’s economic system (“Communism: North Korea”). “Jucne” is a torm ot selt-reliance. It is a mixture ot xenophobic nationalism (unreasonably fearful of or hating anyone or anything foreign or strange), central planning and economic independence.

Using this self-reliant economy, Kim II Sung ruled until he died in 1994. After his death, his son, Kim Jong II, ruled with identical tactics as his father. Kim Jong II was an absolute dictator who was worshipped in a personality cult that was more extreme than any other in any country (“Inside North Korea). In 2011, Kim Jong II died and all the power was given to his youngest son Kim Jong I-Jn. After he died, Kim Jong II was given the title “eternal general secretary’ of the party and “eternal chairman” of the National Defense Commission. Kim Jong II’s father, Kim II Sung, had received the title “eternal president” when he passed away as well (“North Korea”). Kim Jong Un is currently the supreme leader of North Korea. Because the country is based around “Juche”, it is hard to produce all the necessities people need such as food. The effects on North Korean citizens are very severe because of the countrys leader’s philosophy of self-reliance, and thousands of people will continue to suffer from the lack of food and other necessary items.

Communism affects citizens all over the country. Thousands of people suffer from the consequences that the government has left in North Korea. The citizens have lived with oppression for decades, but many of the people do not want to change their government because they have dealt with it for so long and they are used to it. A solution that can stop communism’s reign in North Korea is to wait out the rule. World powers do not want to have to go to war with North Korea because of the loss of lives, the cost, the damage it auses, and many other reasons; this is why waiting out the communist reign in North Korea is the best option.

If the North Korean citizens can outlast communism’s control until the countrys government starts to diffuse, then the people of North Korea can fight the government with the help of a variety of countries. Their government’s ways of ruling with a communist leash has led to extreme conditions affecting the citizens there.

You are saying that using someone else’s property that they have worked for, and in turn, sing it to benefit yourself is permitted. Darwin was born on February 12th of 1809 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. He was born into a wealthy family that had many connections.

Through this, new species develop over time. Darwin worked on this for about twenty years and made a Joint announcement with another naturalist named Alfred Wallace who had similar ideas about their discovery in 1858.

A year later, Darwin published the book “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection”. This book at the time was extremely controversial, because it suggested that man had evolved from another animal such as an ape. Darwin was criticized by many people, especially by the church, because his theory had destroyed the prevailing orthodoxy on how the world was created. However, Darwin’s ideas later gained currency and have become the modern day orthodoxy. Even after his death on April 19th of 1882, today his ideas are proving to be very accurate.

Many Catholics Christisns today still believe in the methods of creationism, but those that believe in creationism, even if they know about evolution, continue to believe otherwise because they believe it is a test of their faith from God. As a Catholic myself, I can fully understanding being respectful to God because I do my best every day to give him thanks for what I have almost every day in some way, shape, or form. However, in the commandment “Thou shall not lie” I am not perfect in this regard, but I follow it the best I possibly can.

Through it I am always looking to seek the truth, and while ignorance itself is not lying, it can still mislead in a similar way. For example, back in the renaissance days of scientific oppression, many other great minds of the time, in the same way that Darwin was in his time, were attacked by the church for going against the Catholic belief even though they had solid proof through their experiments. Galileo for example was attacked by the church for believing that our solar system was actually heliocentric, instead of believing the common belief that everything revolved around the world.

Despite the fact that Galileo had proof of this through many experiments, the church refused to open itself up to the new ideas all because one of the biblical authors thought that everything revolved around the Earth. For these men who were ahead of their time, it was never a matter of disproving the church; it was a matter of proving what is true. Perhaps if more Catholics learned to be less adamant and more open about beliefs, than I think it is quite possible that if we had been more open back then to different ideas, we could be in a far more advanced technological world today.

Along with not being very pen about new views, the church along with its creationist believers also seems to ignore the facts that back up Darwin’s theory. Five of the most essential of these points include the universal genetic code, the fossil record, genetic commonalities, common traits in embryos, and bacterial resistance to antibiotics. While there are many other strong points that also back up the Theory of Evolution, these five sum up most of the previously stated definition of the theory. Essentially, you should come to terms with it. According to the universal genetic code “All cells on Earth, from white blood cells to simple bacteria, all have a genetic code that can be determined” (5 proofs). This suggests that since the simplest forms of life were found in the oldest rocks, then these simple forms of life must have been the first forms of life which adapted to their surroundings over time. This point along with the last one also does an exceptional Job of giving the Theory of Evolution some reinforcement.

To continue off of what the fossil record was stating one also should consider genetic commonalities. When looking at his life before this resistance, it is clear to see that life was better when he was a part of the culture and when he conformed to the expectations of society.

However, when Okonkwo retaliate back against society, there are dire consequences. In his first act of defiance, Okonkwo strikes down his adopted son, Ikemefuna, killing him. Even though the elders instruct him not to do so, or even partake in the killing, Okonkwo meets the consequences of his action with extreme guilt and depression. While this lasts for weeks, Okonkwo’s next act of defiance causes much more severe consequences. He is sent into exile, turning him into what the opposite of what he wished to become, a disgrace like Unoka.

His goals of not being his father goes to ruins as he further caters for his personal needs. Through Okonkwo’s life before and after his resistance to society, Achebe explains the value of nationality over individuality. As Okonkwo’s actions serve as the antithesis of his traditions, his own life gets worse. However, if he were to have followed his traditions, he would not have committed suicide as he did and kept the life he originally led. Therefore, when examining the debate between nationality and individuality, nationality triumphs as the precursor to individuality because of its access to a better life.
