DISCUSSION 1
There are many obstacles that can cause a person to be faced with a lack of motivation to exercise and participate in physical activities. As we know, exercising can be tough and takes a lot of self-discipline and self-motivation. I find that adding biblical motivation often helps keep your goals in perspective and gives you the reassurance you need to stay committed. One of my go to verses that I often refer to when I lack motivation is 1 Corinthians 9:25-27. “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” This verse reminds me that discipline plays an important role in almost everything we do in life. It takes a lot to have the willpower to overcome the urge to skip out on a workout, especially. Our body is our temple, and we should cherish it. Exercising is a key factor in the upkeep of our bodies. This verse reminds me that I have set goals and every workout is one step closer to achieving them. During those rough days where you lack motivation just remember that your workout is another way of worshipping. Another verse I find encouraging is 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” This verse reminds me that I am not alone and under the Lord’s guidance I can work towards creating a better version of myself. God gave us the body we are in, and this is even more reason to take care of and cherish it. It is a reminder that God is the best motivation, it is inspiring and drives you to take care of “God’s Body”.
DISCUSSION 2
I have a Christian client who tells me motivation is a barrier. I would let
the client know that they were not alone. We all have days where we lack
motivation but it’s very important that we don’t become lazy and complacent. On
the days that the client isn’t feeling motivated to exercise I will tell the
client to reference the following bible verses:
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your
own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.
(Bible Study Tools, n.d.).
Romans: 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s
mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to
God—this is your true and proper worship. (Bible Study Tools, n.d.).
Both verses let us know how important our bodies are and why we should take
care of them. When we are not taking care of our bodies, we are not honoring
God. Physical inactivity is a worldwide problem that has contributed to
economic burden and disease. The world health organization found that sedentary
lifestyles cause about 3.2 million deaths a year. You cannot think your body
will remain healthy if you do not use or take care of it. Exercise reduces the
risk of various diseases such as diabetes, stroke, coronary artery disease, and
high blood pressure. Getting regular exercise will help you get a better night’s
rest, improve bone density, and cognitive function. It also helps with weight
management. In older adults it’s a good way to remain mobile and prevent falls.
The American Heart Association recommends healthy adults ages 18-65 have
moderate aerobic activities 5 days a week for 30 minutes, vigorous aerobic
activities for 20 minutes 3 times a week, and muscle strength training 2 times
a week on non-consecutive days. (Gibson, 2019). Those are only minimums for
physical activity.

Arisotelian Outline
I. Introduction
A. Attention Gainer: I wasn’t aware that I was part of any culture other than my ethnicity until I started my first day of middle school. Up until then, I had gone to Armenian school, lived in an Armenian community, and only spoke Armenian at home. On the first day of middle school, I realized that I’m actually a part of many cultures. I identify with being white in America, being a female in America, music culture, dance culture, LGBTQ culture, and so many more.
B. Significance/Interest: Culture, as I’ve discovered, is limitless. Intersectionality is limitless, and anybody can be many things. I am an Armenian American young woman working full-time as a receptionist at a surgery center, who drives her own car, and still has time to be a full-time college student.
C. Thesis: But today, I am going to focus mainly on being an Armenian woman and full-time student in America.
