Aging Media Review: Description
With this assignment students are asked to critically examine an aging related issue portrayed in
the current media and incorporate in their analysis the concepts studied in class. Begin by
selecting a media piece from any of the following sources – news or journal article (print or web),
podcast, video, audio segment, or a movie. The topic addressed in the media piece must be
current and directly related to aging. Examples of age-related issues include physical or mental
health, religion and spirituality, death and dying, health care policy and programs, economy,
retirement, housing, sexuality, ethics, etc.
• Clearly articulate the main idea/issue presented in the original source. Remember that the
reader of your assignment is not familiar with the specific media piece you have selected.
Therefore, be sure to provide a context/background for your paper by including a succinct
description of the most salient points of the original piece (i.e., the nature of the issue,
prevalence, implications, solutions, etc.)
• Describe how the idea/issue relates to the theories or concepts studied in class. Be very
specific in drawing these connections and provide a rationale and examples to support your
position.
• Describe the significance of the main idea/issue for the lives of older adults and provide a
rationale for your position. Specifically, what is the positive impact of the issue on older
adults? Equally important, what potential or actual drawbacks can you identify relative to
this idea/issue? (Remember, every position has its merits and limitations; try to identify what
these are for your selected idea). Explain in detail and with examples (Hint: since most of the
points of this assignment pertain to this section, focus on placing most of your paper’s
emphasis here)
• Identify one area related to the main issue that was not addressed by the media piece but
that you would like to explore further. What specifically would you like to learn more about
and why? Provide a strong rationale using the concepts studied in class (i.e., explain why it is
important to know more about this issue)
Follow APA style for writing and formatting your assignment, citations, and references. If you
are not familiar with APA, use the resources provided on Blackboard to help you. Prior to
uploading your file, give it a name using the following format:
AGNG200_LastName_FirstName_FileName. Submit your assignment using SafeAssign on
Blackboard no later than 11:59 pm on the specified due date. All late assignments will be subject
to the 5% grade penalty described earlier in the section “Policy on Late Assignments”. After you
upload your assignment but before you exit the menu, be sure the accurate file was submitted; no
re-submissions will be accepted.

Analyze your data for the high and low volume for each pipette. Does the standard deviation indicate variation in the data? If yes, do you believe that this variation is due to the accuracy of the micropipette or due to poor technique? Explain your answer by using the data to support your conclusion.”

If you were a safety officer for an organization, where would you place health and safety programs in the organizational structure? Explain why you believe this placement would work best for your organization.

Each post requires one response, three in total. Each one with one source can use the same source from original post if new material is added from it.

Instructions
This final assignment, broken in to two parts, should incorporate the work that you have started in your discussions throughout the course up to this point. You will want to go back and review your discussion posts as well as the posts of others each week to complete this final assignment.
PART 1: Evaluate and Make the Decision by comparing the alternatives based on the objectives. This process is achieved in Step Four by creating two decision matrices – unweighted and weighted.
STEP 1: Create the Unweighted Matrix
Use a scale of 0 – 3 to rate the first decision matrix. (0 being does not meet the objective well to 3 being meets the objective well).
The decision matrices must have the four objectives and four alternatives from the previous week’s discussions.
Explain WHY and HOW Harry derived the ranking of the objectives and alternatives (each of the individual numbers) in the first matrix. Review the House Buying Example.
STEP 2: Create the Weighted Matrix
Assign a percentage to each of the objectives.
These weights must total to 100% for the second (weighted) decision matrix. Remember these do not change for each alternative. but are applied to each objective. Post the second decision matrix in the text box (weighted).
Explain WHY and HOW Harry derived each of the weights for the objectives.
STEP 3: Evaluate
Based on the results of the Decision Matrices, evaluate and analyze all of HH’s alternatives and objectives.
State the final decision by explaining and justifying it with the numbers in the matrix. The final decision is based on the matrices
Make sure that all of your steps make sense with one another and fully align so that your final decision completely lines up with the rest of the steps in the process.
PART 2:
Create a report to the internal stakeholders of the company to discuss the decision that you have made regarding moving forward in a way that fixes the financial situation that outlines exactly how you have come to the decision. In your memo, you want to provide specifics, some of which have been established throughout the first 6 weeks of the course. All conclusions, justifications, reasoning’s, and explanations must be supported with course material in the form of APA in-text citations (page/paragraph numbers required) and a reference list.
Biases that may impact the process
Triggers/Opportunities leading to the need for a decision
Goal of Decision – What is the overall goal and why?
Decision Statement
Purpose, Scope, and Perspective – How did you frame this statement?
Four Objectives – Of the 6, why these?
Alternatives and how they met your objectives. Were these your original alternatives or were there class discussions that brought forth new ideas?
Your decision matrices (weighted and unweighted) and how you chose to weight each criteria
Your final decision – Assessing the Decision Process, which is where Harry will state the final decision and how it fulfills HH’s objectives by examining the MDQ process in how that final decision was derived.

DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT:
Mini-papers have three purposes. They provide a way for me to give credit for careful class preparation; they give you the opportunity to clarify your thinking by practicing analytic writing; and they prepare you for the quizzes. Mini-papers are typed and are not longer than half a page, single-spaced, using standard margins and a font size of 12 (400 words max). If a mini-paper is not handed in on time, or if you hand in a mini-paper from the wrong block, you will receive no credit for it. Please note that all submissions will be screened for potential plagiarism. The mini-papers ask you a question about the assigned reading(s) and you will write a short composition that supports your answer to the question. To do this successfully, you must be able to support your answer with textual evidence, and guard against the tendency to ignore textual evidence that might undermine your thesis. The main objectives of this assignment are to develop your skills at a) thinking through complex texts that do not always provide simple answers, and b) writing a focused argument. There will be more than one persuasive answer to the question I ask. Thus the criteria for a mini-paper are: (1) Clarity: do you make your supporting points clear? (2) Precision and accuracy: do you draw your supporting points from specific places in the text, using quotation marks and page numbers appropriately, and do you make correct assertions about the text? (3) Comprehensiveness and balance: have you identified the textual passages important to this question? (4) Organization: do you present your arguments in a coherent order with smooth transitions and grammatical sentences?- Please put the prompt to which you are responding at the top of the paper. It will not count against your word limit. – Please make sure your paper is 12 point font, times new roman, single spaced. – We encourage you not to put your name on the document. We use Carmen’s anonymous grading feature; therefore, including names defeats this goal. – Cite the readings to which you are referring – either by referencing the author or using end-citations (Zakaria p. 24). i attached the material to use please you insight from the text
