STRESS RELATED DISEASES
Several definitions of stress have been proposed thus causing a great deal of confusion. Therefore, I would like to leave the meaning of this word very simple. It is a term we human beings use to stand for hundreds of specific problems in our lives. It is a word we use when we feel angry, depressed, frustrated or worried. Stress can be categorized into physical, emotional and behavioral. I would like to dwell only on the physical effects of stress. Research shows that years of repeated stresses can cause an array of health problems.
Whether it is the stress of daily life, the pressures of an executive job frustrations of a lower-level position or even social upheaval in an unstable country, the chronic activation of the body’s stress response systems can damage health. Recent research has focused on booth the protective and damaging effect of the body’s hormonal responses to stress. When secreted in response to acute stress, stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol actually protect and help the body adapt to stress. But when stress hormones are not turned off after stress, overexposure to these hormones wears in the body. In the brain, repeated stress impairs memories that track our every day activities. Long term stress also accelerates several biological markers of aging, including age-related neuronal damage. Chronic stress also affects the immune system, increasing the susceptibility to infections, such as common cold. Stress can also be linked to weakened bones and increased

There are many different styles and ways to study for classes when attending college. What doesn’t change is the fact that you really do NEED to study or else you might be in a world of trouble. I am going to pass on some tips that I practice when I need to study for classes.
The first part of advice that I’ll give is that you need to stay organized. It’s important to keep all the materials for different classes separate in their own folders or whatever you choose to separate them. If not you will end up having to many papers and you won’t be able to find what you’re looking for.
When you’re in class it is very important to take notes while the professor is giving his/her lecture. It’s either take notes or sleep, if you don’t want to flunk out of college I suggest you take notes. These notes are going to be very important when it comes to studying for an exam. During the professor’s lecture they might tell you that a certain piece of information is going to be on an exam. Make sure you have a highlighter with you and have it handy so when the professor gives you these clues you can highlight it for easier spotting the next time you review the notes.
In all honesty I am a horrible procrastinator. For this reason it is very important for me to pay attention while I’m in class. Usually, on the night before a test I end up cramming and reviewing my notes trying to jam it all into my head. I find that if I pay pretty good attention in class that some, if not most, of the information is easier to remember. That might just be common sense,

Religion is a communal system for which people beliefs focus on a system of thought, unseen being, person, or object, that is considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine, or of the highest truth. Religions teach morals, values and all local communities become defined by the religious beliefs that one embraces.
Christian based religions focus on one Supreme Being as creator and ruler of all existence. This monotheistic view is also embraced by the Jehovah Witness religion. Followers of the Jehovah Witness community are committed and devoted to spreading the word of God. Jehovah Witnesses are directed by elders and base their beliefs on the old and new testaments of the Bible. Jehovah Witnesses are mainly devoted to studying the bible, and living their life in accordance to Gods will, as well as ministering to others. They are best known for their ministering door-to-door and distributing their literature such as The Watchtower. The Jehovah Witness religion was founded by Charles Taze Russell he was considered a charismatic leader. Russell cited contributions by Advent Christian Church pastor George W. Stetson[ By the time he was 20, Russell had left both the “Presbyterianism and Congregationalism because he could not reconcile the idea of an eternal hell with Gods mercy. He had drifted into skepticism when a chance encounter with some followers of the Adventist movement begun by William Miller introduced him to the idea that the Bible could be used to predict Gods plan of salvation.
I interviewed a Jehovah Witness by the name of Crystal Redmond, we discussed her personal ways of life as a Jehovahs Witness and her personal views of the religion. Ms. Redmond advised me that she was a third generation Jehovah Witness she is 20 years old and she lives in Atlanta, GA. Crystal explains that when a person becomes a part of the religion they are required to begin a rigorous study plan and fellowship to prepare them for the role of sharing the gospel. They also have to answer a multi-part questionnaire led by the elders to test their bible knowledge before being baptized.
As a Jehovah Witness, Crystal is very devoted and committed to her religion, and the bible greatly shapes her daily life, and has been a great support behind important decisions in her life and her family. The thing she liked most about her religion is their central theme on the bible which is “there is a beginning and end for which we are commissioned to preach the word door to door, sharing the truth”. One acquires knowledge and wisdom through studying and learns to apply this information in their everyday lives. It is an ongoing effort for Crystal to practice her faith and she strongly believes that one should not be judgmental of others, and she also believes that Jehovah Witnesses have found the truth. As a follower of Jesus Christ, Crystal strives to be Like Christ and she believes that the good news has to be preached to the world before the end will come in order for the next chapter to be fulfilled. The next chapter that the Jehovah Witnesses believe will take place is that Jesus will be resurrected. They also believe that not all people will go to heaven, whether righteous or unrighteous, and people will not burn in Hell forever. Similar to the Christian and Judaism religions, Jehovah Witnesses believe in the second coming of Christ. But the difference Christians and Jehovah Witnesses is the apocalyptic view of the how the world will end. Crystal states that recent earthquakes, recession, and terrorist attacks such as, 9/11 are current signs and signals for the second coming. She claims these signs are indication that the world will be coming soon. God will resurrect the righteous and unrighteous when he deems it is time. Listening to Crystal talk about her religion and beliefs made it obvious that practicing her faith is an extremely important part of her life. She tells me that it is not about the religion, but it is about making a conscientious decision and effort to live by the bible and to show a commitment to God. According to Crystal, Jehovah Witnesses enforces strict discipline and holds individuals accountable for their actions.
Rather than identifying a person, such as a mentor, guide or spiritual teacher, as in the Hindu religion does, Crystal responded that God is the most influential in her life and Jesus is who she aspires to be like. Her spiritual guidance comes from reading the bible and the association with their religions network, which is called Watchtower. The watchtower is a magazine published twice monthly and the purpose of the magazine is to honor Jehovah God, the Supreme Ruler of the universe. Just as watchtowers in ancient times enabled a person to observe developments from afar, so this magazine shows us the significance of world events in the light of Bible prophecies. It comforts people with the good news that Gods Kingdom, which is a real government in heaven, will soon bring an end to all wickedness and transform the earth into a paradise. It promotes faith in Jesus Christ, who died so that we might gain everlasting life and who is now ruling as King of Gods Kingdom. This magazine has been published by Jehovahs Witnesses continuously since 1879 and is nonpolitical. It adheres to the Bible as its authority. According to the Watch Tower website members are expected to stay in tune with the publications released through watch tower. Many of the articles published on the website put current events and issues in the context of how they would relate to the Bible to provide individuals

Humans share the ability to create symbols with no other species. Various kinds of animals from plow horses to circus seals have been trained to recognize, respond to, and even usea number of symbols. Chimpanzees and gorillas have proved to have a remarkable ability in this regard, learning to use up to 750 different symbols, even combining a few of them to convey more complex meanings.
Human Societies: An Introduction to Macrosociology. 9th ed. Nolan, Lenski, p. 15
Symbols can represent communication and as such are a form of language. Are humans truly the only primates that can understand language? Can other species talk? I believe humans are not the only primates capable of elementary language. Chimpanzees are competent in learning a basic form of language and can constructively express their ideas. Unfortunately for our primate comrades, they are lacking a fundamental physical element that is necessary in vocal language. Due to such inadequacies, Psychologists since the 1940s have been teaching chimpanzees how to communicate through the use of sign language. Over 60 years later great advancements have been made. Some scientists believe that one day these primates will be able to communicate masterfully through the use of signs and symbols. In our awareness of the chimpanzees inability to speak vocally, should we also exclude them from independent symbol creation? Are only humans gifted in “the ability to create symbols” (Human Societies: An Introduction to Macrosociology. 9th ed. Nolan, Lenski, p. 15) Or are we going to have to learn how to share that title?
To begin examining the origin of the use of symbols as a form of communication, one must look back in history almost 6000 years. Limestone tablets dated back to 3500 B.C. were found to bear some of the oldest known writing. On each tablet “are symbols for head, hand, foot, threshing sledge, and several numerals.” (Human Societies: An Introduction to Macrosociology. 9th ed. Patrick Nolan, Gerhard Lenski, p. 34) Although humans began writing structured messages as early as 6000 B.C., the actual use of symbols dates back almost 40,000 years ago. In her article concerning the origin of speech Penny Platt questions why such a huge time-gap is found between the first known use of symbols and the creation of language. She hypothesizes “an audacious theory about the origins of language: that the enforced stay of Cro-Magnons in caves during the ice ages encouraged the invention of a drawing technology, which, in turn, led to the invention of words.” (Cave Art and the Origin of Species, Platt) But what is language? Verbal communication is far from the only form. In our current world over 6500 various languages exist however when one smiles, the meaning is universal. Symbols hold incredible importance in global communication. None would dispute that man forged the path to the construction of rational language, but are we truly alone in the ability to create symbols. Some would argue we are not.
In referring to our evolutionary brothers, the chimpanzees, we are not all that different. In fact, we share almost 99% of our DNA with chimpanzees. So one is forced to question why we have evolved so rapidly while our primate duplicate remains both primitive and indecisive in their societal structure. What are they lacking? Platt would argue that humans won the genetic lottery saying,
Interestingly, humans and simians are born with the same laryngeal machinery, but a human infants larynx drops at three months of age, creating a resonating chamber, which makes consonant and vowel sounds possible. Apes speak through the nose and cannot make the same phonetic sounds humans make by using their lips, cheeks, tongue, palate, and teeth.
Cave Art and the Origin of Species, Platt
This may bare some evidence as to why the apes lack the ability to speak however, the capacity to sound out various words are not a major component in language. Language could conceivably have existed within the primate society regardless of their capability to pronounce the letters “e” or “a”. So why are humans alone in the use of language? Evolutionary geneticist Andrew G. Clark says,
Perhaps some of the genes that enable humans to understand speech work not only in the brain, but also are involved in hearing…Mutations in alpha tectorin result in poor frequency response of the ear, making it hard to understand speech. “Its something like replacing the soundboard of a Stradivarius violin with a piece of plywood,” Clark notes. The large divergence between humans and chimps in alpha tectorin, he says, could imply that humans needed to tune the protein for specific attributes of their sense of hearing. This leads Clark to wonder whether one of the difficulties in training chimpanzees to understand human speech is that their hearing is not quite up to the task.
Chimp vs. Human DNA: whats in the 1% difference? Andrew G. Clark
And the plot thickens. It would appear that due to variations in our physical make-up that chimpanzees and man differ. Humans apparently have a physical advantage to the apes, resulting in the ability to speak and communicate with each other. Therefore through co-operation and collaboration, humans have evolved more quickly then the primates with whom they share 99% of their DNA.
Although chimpanzees physical make-up almost mirrors our own, they have not been the greatest successors in communicating with humans. In fact, gray parrots have been attributed to holding far superior communication abilities. Irene M. Pepperberg, Ph.D, an animal behavior scientist wrote her thesis on the astounding intelligence of the gray parrot. She says,
Although parrots are not often mentioned in discussions about non-human intelligence, much data exist to suggest that psittacids are among the more intelligent animal species. During the 1940s and 1950s, for example, laboratory researchers in Europe demonstrated that Grey parrots could learn the kinds of symbolic and conceptual tasks that are generally considered as pre- or co-requisites for complex cognitive and communicative skills…Another sign of intelligence, thought to be absent in most non-human animals, is the ability to engage in complex, meaningful communication; only recently has the general perception of parrots as mindless mimics been shown to be incorrect.”
Studies to Determine the Intelligence of African Grey Parrots. Irene M. Pepperberg, Ph.D
The communication abilities demonstrated by Alex (a gray parrot) are extraordinary. The parrot has been trained to recognize and identify countless objects, symbols, colors, number, and words.

How We Can Evangelize to the Shans Ethnic Tribe in Myanmar.
REPORT ON MY VISIT TO HSIPAW (TI BAW) TOWN, THE NORTHERN SHAN STATE
HSIPAW OR THIBAW: In the Shan language, it is called as Hsipaw and in the Bama language as Thibaw. The word Hsi in the Shan means four and Paw means town.
The exact population of the town is probably not known. The most probable suggestion given by the town-dwellers is between 150000-200000. There lived different ethnic minorities like Shans, Lisu, Palaung, Wa, Bama, Chinese, Karen, Indians, and Dhanu – Shans being the maturity group. Both Shans and Bama languages are widely used here. The Baw Kyo Pagoda, the Shan Haw Nan, and the Dhottawaddy River are some prominent places here in this town.
The Genesis of Shan People: They believed that Shans are exited from the very beginning of history or they do not have any knowledge of their beginning. They called themselves as Tai means Bright or perfect, and also Shan in the Bama which derived from the original word of Siam. Main Tai is the Shan words for the Shan State and Can Tai for Shan people and Coan Tai for the Shan language. A saying goes “the genesis of Shan is from Mai Maw”, and is well known in the Myanmar history and “the genesis of Shan king is from Banenaka”. The word Maw in the Shan can be terms as king. They called the Shweli River as Namp Maw. There had been once nine Shan kingdoms along the River, Shweli, in the history. Therefore, today, the saying of Maw Ko Pyi in the Bama or the ninth kingdom means to refer the Shan State and territories along the River, Shweli.
A Htae, one of the Shan girl in Hsipaw, said that the Shans in Myanmar had been descended from the neighboring countries like China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. She has narrated a story regarding to a group of Shans who have migrated from China. It goes something like this: Once China had been a kingdom belongs to the Shans and in that Kingdom; Khon Yi Khine Kham was the ruler. This king, who was also a mighty warrior, had a golden buffalo. He used to take his buffalo in fighting and war and there had not been a war defeated. Later, when he died, the kingdom of Shan was taken by the Chinese. And it is said that he would be reborn sometime in the future, on the day of Chinese New Year on which day was he born, to establish another Shan kingdom in one condition – when the cries of guns and war become silent. For that reason, the Chinese being so cunning in knowledge, used to blast some gunfire and paper bombs during the New Year time.
Today, some Shans are still expecting their mighty warrior or Messiah to be reborn and establish their new Shan dominant Kingdom. Thus, some Shans, descended from China, to this day do not fail to mention the name of Khon Yi Khine Kham in times of praying and doing the water merits.
Because of the rich history and heritages of the past, most of the Shan people have patriotic spirit, especially in the Hsipaw – the town ruled by Shan Saw Boas for generations. To my opinion, this can be the reason why they are so slow to inclining Christianity. Their community and their social environments have been so deeply rooted in their tradition and religion.
U Kaw Shwe is the General Secretary of the Shan community in Pyin Oo Lwin. He comes to Hsipaw for a visit to his elder brother in Hsipaw.
Regarding to the population of the Shans in Myanmar, he has this to say, “there are roughly as many as 20 million of Shans in Myanmar. But the present ruling Junta has shown us as to about 6-7 millions in the statistic for the reason to level them down of their strength in order not to offer them a distinct nation. Many Shan have to mention themselves as Bama in order to have an easier access to the national identity card, jobs, education, and the passports etc”. As I inquired him of the Shan tribe, he said that there are all together eleven kinds of Shans or Tais in Myanmar.
These are the following names of them:–
1. Tai Yai or Tai Long (Shan Gyi) – they are the maturity group of peoples in Myanmar at present and their speaking essence is commonly used.
2. Tai Leng (the Northern Shan) – they are also known as the Shan-Tayout which means the Shans who are mixed-blood or close to the Chinese.
3. Tai Mao ( Mao Shan) – It seemed, there had been a TaiMaw kingdom in the past in history at around 600 A.D.
4. Tai Lai
5. Tai Hgne (Gon Shan)
6. Tai Yong (Inn Lay Shan) – They live in the regions of Inn Lay. In the Burmese word Yong Htae, some handicrafts made of Yong derived form the Yong Shans.
7. Tai Loi – they live in Taunggyi and Pin Lon.
8. Tai Lae (Shan Ni) – they live in the Kachin State, the Northern part of Myanmar.
9. Tai Sar – they also are mostly in the Kachin State.
10. Tai Khamti – they live in the Khamti area which is close to the border of India.
11. Tai Dit – They live in the region of See Soan Panna, Khine Ton, and Chinmai.
Tai Long language is widely used as the common language throughout the Shan State. In the Northern Shan State, either Shan or Bamar languages are widely used.
Based on the locality they lived, the essence of the language pronounced and costumes and dresses are different.
Some Shan tribe can not understand each others language. For example, the Shans in Hsipaw find very hard to understand the language of the Shans in Khamti or the Kachin State. Or the Tai Dit finds it hard to understand the Shan-Tayout in Tantyan. However, there is a common written script and alphabet used by all different Shans and it can be understood by all Shans living in different areas.
FAMILY STRUCTURE: Previously, husbands are very powerful in the Shan families. They lived like the master and slave status between husband and wife. Most of the familys carriers are being initiated by the wife, unrest. But things are gradually changing and they are coming to see an unjust act of the gap between husband and wife prominently in the urban areas like Hsipaw. The town-dwellers are now coming to see an equal right between husband and wife. In some cases, based on the situation,
President Barrack Obama And Mitt Romney easy essay help: easy essay help
This 2012 Presidential Election was one of the most important and controversial Elections in the history of America. Between the last four years in office, our President Barrack Obama has received more threats and criticism about his 1st term in office more than any President in the history of America. Even though he has gone through a lot, he maintains to be exceptionally intelligent, articulate, and possesses an old-school strategy on politics the same way Bill Clinton did in office that left our economy with a surplus when he left office. Mitt Romney is a former Governor of Massachusetts who has a well-known reputation for his position in politics and has finally reach his highest phenomenal career and is now running for the President of United States. These two men had different strategies that they wanted to focus on, just as we learned in our lesson in the book.
Ever since Obama was accepted to become our 44th President of America, he stressed that he wanted to do what was right for the people. Just like a typical Democrat, he wants to focus on the middle and low income class. His main key was creating more jobs for American citizens and getting more young students in college, so they would be able to have those jobs available for them when they graduate. One thing that Obama stressed about the many jobs we lost due to our Recession was that students were getting degrees in different fields and not having any jobs available in their majors once they graduated.
By Obama focusing on the youth and its future is what got him the popular vote with the young adults. As a matter of fact, he has had more young people participate in this vote more than anybody in history and that is a smart move he has thought of. When I look at everything overall, I see that the Democrats are more for the people and the Republicans are more for the money. Obama wants to bring our country under the same policies that Bill Clinton used during his terms that left us

My great-grandmother passed away last month. She was an unbelievable woman who carried a special place in my heart. It was hard to handle the anguish I felt when I first heard about her death. Her passing left me with an empty feeling inside. The sad, empty, and painful feeling I sensed was my suffering. Human Suffering is a hard concept to grasp, but suffering is a part of everyones lives, not just mine. Everyone experiences a form of human suffering at one point or another in their lives. In order to put the misery behind, one must deal and cope with the cause. Blame, vengeance, God and positive outlooks help humans reconcile with the pain of suffering.
Human suffering is the pain and sadness one feels inside when something bad has happened to her or someone close to her. There are two types of suffering: one is caused by another person, and the other type is caused by human nature (Gillman 187). Suffering caused by another person involves crimes and deceitful actions: A person inflicts pain on another person, either internally or externally, causing them and their family agony. An example of this is when a person murders someone else; the murderer creates the suffering for the victims family and friends. The murderer took the life of a loved one away, creating an enormous amount of suffering. A group or agency can cause suffering; cutting governmental funding also exemplifies suffering created by a person or group of people. When the government decides to take money out of a certain program, many people lose their jobs and do not get the care they need. Taking from the AIDS clinics, for example, leaves the patients in the clinics helpless. Although the government tries not to look deceitful, they eventually do look devious because so many people are left with no where to go. The selfish works of the government leaves families and friends of the victims of governmental cuts suffer as well. The family suffers knowing the person with AIDS will eventually die with no clinic support.
The other type of suffering is caused by nature. Natural forces create suffering that man cannot control. An example would be an accident caused by an earthquake. The Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 killed family members and co-workers. No one could have predicted the earthquake would be that powerful. The earthquake destroyed weak buildings and caused injuries among the people in the buildings. The act of human nature caused many families and friends to suffer. Loved ones and good friends died from freak accidents like a freeway or building collapsing. Businesses also suffered when they lost their employees and buildings in the 1989 earthquake.
To reconcile and deal with suffering, most people place the blame of an incident on another person, relieving themselves of any responsibility. When the situation that creates suffering is produced by another person, such as a homicide, the blame is easily placed upon that individual. Taking that person to court is the next step towards taking a persons mind off of the suffering. The person suffering will want to make sure that the murderer suffers as well. When anguish is due to natural disasters or diseases, in which man physically could not control, the blame is not directly pointed towards an obvious target. Most times people will look at the people that were involved before the incident and blame those people. Blame can be directed towards the architect of a building that collapsed or a doctor of a sick patient who died. People put the blame on others so they do not feel responsible for their own suffering.
Vengeance constitutes another way people deal with suffering. Often times seeking revenge is not as constructive as the other forms of coping, but it still relieves the pain of the initial sufferer. Payback helps the original sufferers by redistributing the agony to other people. Taking an individual to court exemplifies revenge. After a person kills a family member, that family of the dead person will want the murderer to go to jail for her actions. The family will want the murderer to suffer more than they already have. The law and court system is most commonly used when a person is seeking vengeance on another person. There is larger scale revenge that starts out with small-scale revenge, but then turns into a larger mess. The small-scale vengeance starts out with a more one-on-one approach. Then it turns into a larger scale vengeance when the initial revenge angers more people. Almost everyone in the situation is suffering while they are trying to barter for happiness by giving the pain to others.
September 11, 2001 marked a day that no one will forget. The Taliban, through Osama Bin Ladens beliefs, destroyed the World Trade Center buildings. America has come together since then to seek revenge against the Taliban and Bin Laden by sending troops into Afghanistan. This battle, like any battle, has killed innocent bystanders. By fighting, however, Americans feel the Afghanistanians are suffering for what the people from their country have done to the people of United States. The small group vengeance may have turned into a large group vengeance, but at least coping is accomplished by switching the agony from one group to another. Americans feel more at ease with the tragedy by knowing some of the murderers from Afghanistan are suffering for their actions. Achieving revenge makes the person suffering feel as if they found justice, even if they made

Defining the Humanities
The intended purpose of this essay is to define humanities, and go into detail on how humanities differ from most peoples expressions, and questions. I will try to explain an event of cultural significant that I have experienced some years ago, this event I will be discussing will also explain how I expressed myself, and how I felt about the event as well. In this essay, I will discuss many different sides of humanities as well, from art, style, to even the time period, to keep an open mind; we will discuss other choices, and expressions from a point in history that I have dealt with.
What is the study of Humanities?
In theory, the study of humanities speaks about an extensive study, or discipline that tells a story of sorts about how people throughout the years of history, understood the importance of human life, and how these lives were impacted by certain situations. Lets not stop there, the theory also discusses how people, and his or her actions over the years helped to change our out looked on the simple form of art and how it is expressed as well.
In todays time, and culture, people when discussing humanities, he or she will discuss the main areas that have shaped our lives. These main areas that most people will discuss over his or her coffee to others, is that of how such studies like math, human thought, and even such things as science has played a major role in shaping, and becoming a part of the human culture. Humanities involve many aspects of our lives, when dealing with science, humanities steps in to include the study of the human being itself. But when we try to place humanities in the field of science all by itself, we become confused. Why? Because we tend to classify one subject, out of a whole bunch of other subjects. We forget to include in the study of science, the arts, human subjects, and even history within the science field as well.
My Selected Cultural Event
An even that sticks out in my mind that has played over and over just like a record player, is that of how all of these wars that America has been involved in started. How did these wars get started? Why? These would be normal questions by anyone who would ponder the same thoughts as me. I thought about WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and even the war today in Iraq, I thought about each one of these wars, I thought about how these wars affected the people who were not involved. The citizens, who had to suffer from the aftermath of it all, think about the culture shock, the humanities of it all.
During WWII, when Hitler persecuted all of the Jews, this act of murder caused a ripple effect that traveled down generations after generations. When I think about humanities, and the study of them, I think about the history,

Here is a riddle. When does 1.5% equal 50%-70%? The answer? When discussing the percentage of Mormons in the United States of America compared to that of Salt Lake City, Utah (Demographics) (Salt Lake). The numbers can be a point of some debate but using even the most moderate numbers are astounding. What do we know about Mormonism? What has pop culture told us? Is it true? These questions and more will be answered, and to some these answers may be astounding.
Joseph Smith was born in 1805 in Sharon, Vermont (Oliver, Branch, and Walker). According to the religion, he prayed his first prayer at age 16, and he saw Jesus and God the Father in a vision (Oliver, Branch, and Walker). About seven years later, the angel Moroni (the son of the prophet Mormon) gave him two golden tablets inscribed with symbols, which he translated into the Book of Mormon in 1830 (Oliver, Branch, and Walker). The Church of Christ was founded on April 6th of that same year and was the first church for the religion. Four years later the church changed its name to Church of the Latter Day Saints (LDS) (Oliver, Branch, and Walker). On June 27th, 1844 Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum die in a gunfight at a jail where he and others are being held on charges of treason. They were attacked by a mob. Joseph did manage to kill two gunmen and wound another with a small pistol, which was smuggled in earlier (Oliver, Branch, and Walker).
Brigham Young then takes over as the second prophet. Brigham Young Dies in 1877 and is officially succeeded by John Taylor in 1880 (Oliver, Branch, and Walker). Seven years later Taylor dies and is succeeded by Wilford Woodruff in 1889. During this time there were many difficulties for the Mormons. There were many disagreements within the religion about theologies and practices. This was accompanied by the issue of polygamy which took a Supreme Court ruling to stop. This continues until the 15th and current prophet Gordon B. Hinckley assumed the status in 1995.
Upon researching the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I found that there are many more churches than I expected in my area. There is one less than 10 minutes from my house, and I did not even know it. The name is, of course, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and it is located at 1545 Eastgate Rd Toledo Ohio. The Mormon places of worship are not that characteristically similar in any way. They vary from church to church, much like many Christian churches. There are some that are huge and castle like and some that are small and just like a small town church. There are massive pipe organs in some, and smaller more humble settings for others.
I was able to acquire an interview with my wifes grandmother. Her name is Juanita Foreman. She has been with the church for many years and is heavily involved in many different aspects. She is an usher, she sings in the ensembles, and she has been involved in many outings. She was unable to meet with me face-to-face because she fell ill on the day we were to meet. Because of that this interview was over the phone. The day of the interview was Sunday November 26th, 2006. We spoke of many things, and I felt that I gleaned a little bit more about Mrs. Foreman as a person. We spoke of many light things like holidays, typical meeting times, and ceremonies or rituals, and I was informed that Christianity and Mormonism were very similar. Mormons celebrate all the same holidays that Christians do like Easter, Christmas, and the Fourth of July. They have meetings at 10 Oclock a.m., then they have Sunday school at 11 Oclock, and lastly they split off into gender specific areas for men and women. Women go to something called “relief society” and men go to a “priesthood” class. Relief society is a group that is to complement the men in the priesthood class. Mormons believe in the Christian practice of Water Baptism but nothing more or out of the ordinary.
We did not just stay on this “fluff” conversation. I asked her some hard questions, and she answered them very well. I asked about how religions had shaped her life, and she told me that it completely turned her around from the bad things that she was doing. I inquired about their take on the origin of life, and how the earth was created, and she said that they believe that God created man, and that God, Jesus, and Michael the Arch-Angel created the earth. Mormons believe that there are more than just heaven and hell for the afterlife. They believe in three different destinations, or types of glory. The first type destination is Telestial, and next to hell (complete separation from God) it is the farthest one can get from God. The next is Terrestrial, which is somewhere in between, and the best is Celestial which is the closest one can get to God.
After that we spoke of how she would defend Mormonism against those who call it a cult, and she stated that she believes a cult to be people who do outlandish things that are out of the norm. She said that their religion is family-oriented and interested in the betterment of humankind. The only question that she did not have an answer for was her favorite verse or a verse that she had that spoke to her. She said that she could not memorize things well. She came back to say that this religion has made her have strong feelings toward being very honest and treating and judging people very fairly. She gave me an exceptional background of their religion and the background on Joseph Smith. She also said that it was hard for her at first to be a part of Mormonism because her whole family was one form or another of Christian. Even though she says that Mormonism is a form of Christianity they have varied beliefs and some things that they do that were hard for the family to deal with, and some that were hard for her to get used to. In her religion they do not drink coffee or tea, which was hard for her at first. Many things were hard for family and friends to understand like, not smoking, drinking alcohol, not eating much meat, eating plenty of vegetables, and keeping the Sabbath day holy by not going out shopping or making others work by going out to eat.
During the wrap up, I asked her if she had anything that she would like

Current Project Budget And Project essay help: essay help
When developing a budget for a project, we must first estimate what resources will be needed to complete the project, the necessary amount of all, when these resources will be required, and how much the resources will total, counting the effects of possible price increase. When pitting together a budget, there will be some doubt is involved in any prediction, though some estimates have less uncertainty than others. Establishing a budget for a project is much more trying than establishing budgets for more stable organizational undertakings. While the person developing the budget for a project cannot always depend on tradition as a basis for estimating the current project budget, it is not unusual for the budgeter to have budgets and audit reports for comparable past projects to serve as guides (Kerzner, 2006). The budget for adding an additional room and expanding the family room in the house is as followed:
The material needed should be easily ready at any hardware store. The permits should be acquired be for construction begin, to ensure a building guideline or restrictions are taken into consideration during the planning process. Cost, performance and time are the constraints on the project.
Project performance of both project managers and their resource personnel should be measured on the circumstances in which it was attained, complexity, the amount of task difficulty, changes, size, and overall business environments. This also includes examining overall project performance with regard to monetary data, agendas, and mechanical efforts (Kerzner, 2006). This project should come within the 45,000 budget. The allocated time for this project is 30 days; therefore the rooms should be complete within this time. The additional room should be built with quality material and all material used properly.

Topic Of Capacity Management And Capacity Management computer science essay help: computer science essay help
Throughout our teaching-based project, we will cover the topic of capacity management. Capacity management is important because impact of capacity management is felt throughout the organization, within every element of the supply chain. We will present concept of process capacity, capacity utilization, economies and diseconomies of scale, capacity balance. More specifically, we will describe the process of capacity planning for a newly developed manufacturing facility. We will derive the optimum amount of capacity necessary for maximum efficiency of the facility and when it should be added. With the use and examples of capacity related equations, we will effectively provide a model for determining basic capacity planning problems such as unit cost, minimum cost capacity feasible and cycle time. This information will be presented in the form of a PowerPoint, student handouts, homework problems/solutions, conceptual questions and a quiz.
We created roadmaps of the topics that could help our class understand the characteristics of capacity management. Our learning goal in presenting this topic is to identify the purpose of Capacity Management and when it is appropriate to use it. An additional goal was to ascertain how to evaluate our work in terms of Capacity Management. After few weeks of reading and researching, we began to identify to our outline. As capacity management is an extremely large topic, we are only going to discuss the areas covered in the teaching slides. We are going to give brief idea about capacity management and how could we apply these teaching methods into our organization.
Capacity management is basically the maximum rate of output of a process or a system. As mangers, we always need to ensure that our capacity meets our demand. In the other words, we can evaluate our capacity management based on how far we are from the demand. For that, the closer you can get to the demand the better profit you can gain. We cannot isolate capacity decision within organization from the supply chain, because the capacity of the process will always have an impact on other processes in the chain. Capacity management could be divided into two segments;
Capacity Planning (Long-term): It includes economies and diseconomies of scale, Capacity timing and sizing strategies, and a systematic approach to capacity decisions.
Constraint Management (Short-term): It includes the theory of constraints, identification and management of bottlenecks, product mix decisions using bottlenecks, and managing constraints in line processes. Our teaching slides describe these ideas in much more detail.
Capacity planning for any firm is difficult due to varying nature of demand. The existence

Human Side Of Management And Type Of Company essay help online
Management is one of the most common jobs in the world today. The key aspects that make up the human side of management and leadership are efficiency and effectiveness; which incorporate strategic planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. Incorporating basic core values and principles to guide a business enables them to meet objectives and goals through employees. Motivating employees to succeed and wanting to perform well are all affected by the quality of life in the workplace. Managers play a critical part on how a business functions, interacts, and maintains order and discipline so the organization can be successful. Management skills consist of strategy, persuasion, negotiation, and writing, speaking, and listening. It also demonstrates qualities that define leadership. Additionally, integrity and character are core values that produce things like vision, sensitivity, commitment, insight, and ethical standards that make up the aspects of management (Teel, 1996).
Being a manager has various functions, it all depends on what type of company you work for and the work required. Management involves planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. When planning managers have to set goals and determine the best way to achieve them. Planning allows a company to reach a goal or complete the mission. Depending on the company’s mission the planning can vary in different types such as strategic planning which is establishing goals and objectives or performance which targets an overall course of action that will allow the company to meet a long term goal. For example, I am active duty military and work at the biggest Navy reserve center in the world. I am in charge of the Manpower department and in order for me to meet the mission of the navy we have defined plans set in place to achieve a goal and the overall mission to make sure the Navy Reserve force is always ready to deploy at a moments notice. Some other plans that companies can utilize are tactical plans, which is a course of action to achieve short-term goals, generally within a year or less; operational plans which is the process of linking strategic goals and objectives to tactical goals and objectives, and contingency plans, preparing for events such as the loss of data, people, customers, suppliers, and other disruptive unknowns. These types of plans can be executed and accomplished through organization and staffing (Exploring Business, 2014).
Organizational structure and staffing have a major part in the execution of plans and management. In order for companies to execute the job there needs to be structure and placement of appropriate people in certain positions to allow it to be operational. The business environment is always changing, companies are always restructuring to stay competitive or become competitive. Restructuring is a form of organizational structure allowing the company to re-evaluate

Music stimulates my brain to function. The voices call me to wake up. Without music my heart beat would stop and the notes would stop flowing. The music helps me function. It helps me with school and sports. It helps me excel to the top level.
One of my favorite aspects of music is making it. I love writing songs. Though I am still an amateur, I am determined to improve my skills. I get the most pleasure from a breakthrough lyric, when the words come together perfectly. if you can give it enough time, though, than you can come out with a platinum quality product. My favorite thing to lay down is the beat. This is my favorite part about making music. I can spend days working to make a song better. I love perfecting just the right mix. At Christmas, I received a computer program that allows me to create beats and samples. I experiment with various beats, messing around with the beat until I get just the right one. My dream Is to go into a studio and be able to put together some full length tracks. Maybe someday Ill even come out with an album.

Thats how life takes a turn and we aim to become an engineer or a doctor. Essay title: Successful Marriage
Marriage is defined as the legal union of a man and a woman (Webster’s Dictionary). Customs of marriage vary widely throughout the world, but it also meets the basic needs of all human beings. “ In most societies, marriage is considered the best way to ensure orderly raising of children. It allows for a division of labor within a consuming and working unit. Ideally, it offers intimacy, commitment, friendship, affection, sexual fulfillment, companionship, and an opportunity for emotional growth, as well as new sources of identity and self-esteem.” (Gardiner, et.al. 508) Many studies have shown that married people are usually happier than unmarried people. On the other hand, people who are unhappily married are less happy than people who are divorced.
Although the United States has one of the highest divorce rates in the world, we can’t forget that there are many happily married couples. My boyfriend’s parents, Frank and Donna, are the happiest married couple that I know. April 3rd was their thirtieth wedding anniversary, but to them it doesn’t seem that long. I have been with my boyfriend, Matt, for almost five years. I have been able to observe his parents for a long time, so I have noticed a lot of things about the way they keep their marriage a success. Most of the responses I received from them were similar, which shows how close they are. When I asked Frank how he knew Donna was the person he was going to marry, he said, “We had so much in common, and she could always make me laugh.” (Powell, Frank) When I asked Donna the same question, she stated, “He would always treat me how I wanted to be treated, with respect and love.” (Powell, Donna) Although their answers were short and simple, they are still treating each other the same way after thirty years.
According to Bramlett and Mosher, age is a major predictor of whether or not a union will last. They explain that teenagers have higher divorce rates, and people who wait until their twenties to marry have a better chance of success. College graduates and couples with high family income are less likely to end their marriages than those with less education and income. Bramlett and Mosher also stated that people who attach high importance to religion are less likely to experience marital dissolution. These examples greatly describe Frank and Donna. For example, they got married in their twenties, and have a very successful marriage. Also, they both have college education and a high income. Lastly, Frank and Donna believe highly in religion. Although their sons Scott, Matt, and Art didn’t go to Catholic school, they were all in religion classes. Frank even taught the religion classes. When I asked, ‘how has your marriage changed over the years, and how has it remained the same,’ Frank replied, “Not much has changed in our marriage when it comes to closeness. We are still best friends, and we will be for eternity.” According to Donna, the only thing that has changed is their sex life. She said it is only because he works nights at Ford. When he’s home, I’m at work and vice versa. She continued to say, “When we do get to make love, it still feels like the first time. Our love and devotion for each other remains the same.” Age is definitely a major factor when it comes to marriage. Age affects maturity, and maturity affects a person’s ability to make adult decisions.
Commitment is one of the most important keys to a successful marriage. This involves communication, making decisions, and dealing with conflict. Arguing and openly expressing anger seem to be good for a marriage; wining, defensiveness, stubbornness, and withdrawal are signs of trouble (Gottman and Krokoff). All married couples have conflicts over the years they are married, although some don’t admit it. According to Thompson and Walker, a subtle factor underlying marital conflict and marital failure may be a difference in what the man and woman expect from marriage. To many women, marital intimacy entails sharing of feelings and confidences. Men tend to express intimacy through sex, practical help, companionship, and shared activities. When I asked Frank about problems and conflicts he’s had with Donna; he replied, “I was very insecure at one point in our relationship.” When asked how he dealt with these problems, he continued to say, “Donna was very easy to talk to and very understanding. We were able to talk things out, and we would listen to what each other had to say. This was a big plus, because without communication, a relationship can’t last.” The hardest problem for Donna was

Study on Juvenile Psychopaths
What is the “super predator”? He or she are young hypercriminals
who are committing acts of violence of unprecedented coldness and brutality.
This newest phenomena in the world of crime is perhaps the most dangerous
challenge facing society and law enforcement ever. While psychopaths are
not new, this breed of super criminal exceeds the scope of psychopathic
behavior. They are younger, more brutal, and completely unafraid of the
law. While current research on the super predator is scarce, I will
attempt to give an indication as to the reasons a child could become just
such a monster.
Violent teenage criminals are increasingly vicious. John DiIulio,
Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, says
that “The difference between the juvenile criminals of the 1950s and those
of the 1970s and early 1980s was the difference between the Sharks and the
Jets of West Side Story and the Bloods and the Crips. It is not
inconceivable that the demographic surge of the next ten years will bring
with it young criminals who make the Bloods and the Crips look tame.” (10)
They are what Professor DiIulio and others call urban “super predators”;
young people, often from broken homes or so-called dysfunctional families,
who commit murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, and other violent acts.
These emotionally damaged young people, often are the products of sexual or
physical abuse. They live in an aimless and violent present; have no sense
of the past and no hope for the future; they commit unspeakably brutal
crimes against other people, often to gratify whatever urges or desires
drive them at the moment and their utter lack of remorse is shocking.(9)
Studies reveal that the major cause of violent crime is not
poverty but family breakdown – specifically, the absence of a father in
the household. Today, right now, one-fourth of all the children in the
United States are living in fatherless homes – this adds up to 19 million
children without fathers. Compared to children in two parent family homes,
these children will be twice as likely to drop out of school, twice as
likely to have children out of wedlock, and they stand more than three
times the chance of ending up in poverty, and almost ten times more likely
to commit violent crime and ending up in jail. (1)
The Heritage Foundation – a Conservative think tank – reported
that the rise in violent crime over the past 30 years runs directly
parallel to the rise in fatherless families. In every state in our country,
according to the Heritage foundation, the rate for juvenile crime “is
closely linked to the percentage of children raised in single-parent
families. And while it has long been thought that poverty is the primary
cause of crime, the facts simply do not support this view. Teenage
criminal behavior has its roots in habitual deprivation of parental love
and affection going back to early infancy, according to the Heritage

Root System And Structure Of Plants gp essay help: gp essay help
Growth & Structure of Plants
Essay title: Growth & Structure of Plants
There are three main parts of a plant: the root system, the stems and leaves. All of these functions work together to produce a full mature plant. The roots help absorb and maintain water, minerals and food. They not only seek out food and water for a plant, but also store nutrients as well. The stem system of a plant is vital for the overall structure and balance of a plant. It also serves the purpose of transporting food and water to the leaves above, which help produce photosynthesis. There are two types of leaves: simple and compound. Simple leaves are basically a leaf with one blade. A compound leaf is one of many blades, also known as leaflets.
The root system of a plant is a rather complex one. When a root system starts to grow, the cells are very fragile and can be damaged during growth. The result is a root cap that protects these fragile cells. In the middle of a root are two components that act as arteries throughout the plant; xylem and phloem. The Xylem transports water from the roots of the plant to the shoot system (branches, leaves, etc.). The Phloem transports food or minerals to any part of the plant that is need of nourishment. The xylem and phloem are not just present in roots, but in the stem system as well. There are two types of roots, Tap roots and Fibrous roots. A taproot system has one main or central root that has much smaller side branches. By concentrating their growth on into one axis, taproots are able to dig down deep into the soil, finding water where a more fibrous root system may not be able to. Some younger plants, such as trees, start their growth with one long taproot and develop a more fibrous system during its maturation process. Fibrous roots do not have a single large root; rather they have a system of roots of equal size in length and width. Fibrous roots are more spread out, gathering more water and minerals. They are also good for stability of young plants. Fibrous root systems, like those found in many grasses, can even help prevent soil erosion.
Whereas roots provide the anchorage of a plant, the stem is vital to a plants growth and stability. In the middle of the stem, you will find the xylem and the phloem, just like you would in the root system. The function of the xylem within the stem is to transport water and minerals to the leaves and living cells within it. The function of the phloem is to transport food produced by the leaves or take food from storage to any part of the plant that may be in need of nourishment. The taller the plant, the greater the turgor pressure is. “Cell turgor gives firmness to water-filled tissues. The difference between crisp and wilted lettuce leaves or celery petioles, illustrates the nature of turgid and non-turgid (flaccid) cells.” Turgor pressure has great influence on the rigidity of a plant. The higher the turgor, the less flexible a plant will be. A stem not only transports food and water, but also provides much need support for the leaves which need to reach up high to gather sunlight needed for photosynthesis. Some stems are green and are able to produce food via photosynthesis. Plants such as cacti do not have any leaves, yet still carry out photosynthesis in the stem which carries the main photosynthetic organs.
As a plant grows taller, it normally grows wider as well. This process is called secondary growth. The cells that provide the extra girth are known as the lateral meristems. Within these meristems are secondary vascular tissues, which help transport food, water and minerals up and down the stem of the plant. When a tree is cut down, you will notice how a tree has many rings, known as growth rings. You can tell a lot about a trees life just by looking at its tree rings. You will notice if it’s been an ideal growing season, or one of harsh conditions depending upon the width of these rings. As the trees girth expands, the cells in the middle of the plant get stretched, expand and then destroyed by the tremendous pressure put upon it. Once the cells are compressed and have died, the dead cells then turn into a hard woody tissue called heartwood; gaining the much needed strength and rigidity necessary for the plants stability. In some plants such as trees, a protective layer is needed to protect the stem and the development of its secondary growth. Many new cells are created on the outer layer of the stem (meristems) which become impregnated with a waxy, waterproof material, then die off. These cells clump together to form what we know as bark, or cork cambium.
There are many types and shapes of leaves. Leaves are broken down into many categories such as lobing and division, shapes and margins, tips and basins, arrangements and the overall structure of the leaf itself. As stated above, there are two basic types of leaves: Simple and Compound. Like that of the roots and stems, the outside
Members Of A Society And Structural-Functionalism computer science essay help: computer science essay help
Essay title: Structural Functionalism
Functionalism is referred to as consensus structuralism because it emphasises the central role that agreement between members of a society on morals plays in maintaining social order. It is this moral consensus that creates an equilibrium, which is the normal state of society. Durkheim was concerned with the question of how societies maintain internal stability and survive over time. He sought to explain social cohesion and stability through the concept of solidarity. In “primitive” societies it was mechanical solidarity, the fact that everybody performed similar tasks, that held society together. Durkheim proposed that such societies tend to be segmentary, being composed of equivalent parts that are held together by shared values, common symbols, or, as his nephew Mauss held, systems of exchanges. In modern, complex societies members perform very different tasks, meaning that a strong interdependence develops between them. Based on the metaphor of an organism in which many parts function together to sustain the whole, Durkheim argued that complex societies are held together by organic solidarity. He espoused a strong sociological perspective of society which was continued by Radcliffe-Brown, who, following Auguste Comte, believed that the social constituted a separate “level” of reality distinct from both the biological and from inorganic matter. Explanations of social phenomena therefore had to be constructed within this social level, with individuals merely being transient occupants of comparatively stable social roles.
Consequently, he proposed that most stateless “primitive” societies that lack strong centralised institutions or government are on an association of such corporate descent groups. Structural-functionalism also took on Malinowskis argument that the basic building block of society
Significant Impact Of My Thoughts And Week Period essay help websites

My life to me has been one big stress ball. The biggest stressful occasion is when my parents got divorced. This had a huge impact on me due to the fact that I was in school and that I always thought of my family as a pretty healthy family with no problems. I always have heard about how other families were getting divorced but I never thought it could happen to me. When this horrific occasion finally came to the last draw where I knew it was final, it had such a significant impact of my thoughts, emotions and bodily changes and changed me to how I am today. After it was all said and done I realized that some of the stressful management techniques got me threw what happened with my family.
I was seventeen when this happened, which means I was old enough to realize what was going on. This had a substantial impact on my thoughts. Everything I thought was a question, why are they doing this? Does this have anything to do with me? Did I make this happen? Do they realize the impact it is going to have on our family and our closeness as a family? My thought were everywhere and I needed answer’s because it was effecting my life, my school and my social life because that’s basically all I thought about. Most of my answers finally did get solved by my parents. I found out that all they really wanted was to be happy, but they couldn’t be happy together, which meant they would live by themselves. This just opened up more thought for me which related to most of my earlier questions but my main question is where am I going to live? How can I decide which parent to live with? That’s like asking them which son they love more me or my brother. It ended up that my father told me to live my mother because she needed me more because she is very emotional and couldn’t live without her sons, but that it would be okay because he would visit and that we would still have that strong relationship. All of my thoughts were finally answered and even though I didn’t want this to happen I understood why it had to happen.
The divorce also did major attack on my emotions, I was consistently sad, angry, confused and it also effected my pride and confidence in myself. There was a three week period where my parents were divorced, but not technically divorced because the papers were not signed, which meant we still all lived in the house together. It was the worst three weeks of my life, the house was lifeless and everyone felt like something was missing for those three weeks, which I knew that, everyone was starting to realize that it was evident that our family was going to break up. Speaking of break up and emotions, at the time I was in a relationship with this girl I knew all my life, we were very good together until the divorce. My emotions were torn up so bad that I wouldn’t leave my house to see her and I also didn’t feel like talking on the phone, which basically meant I wouldn’t let her in and express my emotions or tell her what was going on. We eventually got in pointless fights due to my emotions of anger from the divorce that we broke up. We still remain friends till this day but it goes to show you how such a big stress like divorce can effect your emotions to affect your entire life in everyway.

Emotional Intelligence And Concept Of Emotional Intelligence my assignment essay help
Studies in Emotional Intelligence
Studies in Emotional Intelligence
There is a growing interest in the concept of emotional intelligence, and with that growth is a gap between what we know and what we need to know. In the article, Emotional Intelligence: Issues and Common Misunderstandings, Robert J. Emmerling and Daniel Goleman inquire as to what emotional intelligence is, how it differs from other established constructs within psychology, whether or not it can be developed, whether or not it can be a better predictor of work performance than traditional measures of intelligence, whether or not it should be measured at all, and how it relates to ethics.
Emotional intelligence has a potential utility in predicting a range of criterion across different populations, but its predictive validity depends on the context, criterion of interest, and specific theory used. Traditional intelligence measures have been unable to account for a significant portion of variance in career success and work performance. IQ was originally thought to account for twenty-five percent of how well people perform in their careers, while it was later discovered that IQ actually accounted for between four and ten percent. A more recent study found that IQ is a better predictor of work and academic performance than EI, but when it comes to becoming an extraordinary performer, IQ may be a less powerful predictor than EI. The failure of IQ to account for the variance between performance and success is especially evident among managers and senior leaders. IQ alone is unable to predict this as well as competencies that integrate emotional, social and cognitive abilities.
Emotions and cognition are interwoven in the aspects of emotional intelligence, especially in interpersonal functioning, empathy, motivation, affective self-regulation, self-awareness, and complex decision-making. The range restriction on the variable of IQ among managers and senior executives may be the cause of IQ’s inability to predict the variance in performance among managers. Leaders must process a great deal of complex information on a daily basis, and that requires a high level of cognitive ability. IQ simply provides a basis on which to recognize a minimal capability that all who are within a certain job pool should have to keep their job. IQ should remain a predictor of the vocations that are available to an individual of a certain intelligence, but once in that vocation, the predictive validity of IQ should diminish.
It has been said that having a high level of emotional intelligence might compensate for having a low IQ. This would allow those with a low IQ, but a high level of emotional intelligence to thrive with only average intelligence. This gives individuals the idea that IQ matters very little. Emotional intelligence has begun to challenge the assumptions about what leads to success, and to bring a balanced view to the role of emotion and cognition in determining life outcomes. In order to validate claims of the importance that emotional intelligence and traditional intelligence possess in the prediction of certain criterion, more research is needed.
Within the emotional intelligence paradigm there exists several theories that attempt to better understand and explain the abilities, skills, and traits associated with emotional and social intelligence. Researchers have been able to demonstrate the discriminant validity of trait-based approaches to emotional intelligence. Recent research shows that emotional intelligence is a unique construct that accounts for unique variance when IQ and personality are controlled. Emotional intelligence has not been around for very long, and evidence continues to develop that shows how EI represents many traits and abilities that are not fully accounted for by traditional measures of personality and cognitive intelligence. The traditional intelligence field has not been threatened or discredited for having several theories. Our knowledge and practical applications of intelligence assessment to a wide variety of issues has been increased by our thorough research on traditional intelligence. All of the theories within the emotional intelligence paradigm strive to find a concept of how individuals manage, utilize, understand and perceive emotions to predict and maintain effectiveness.
The first major theory in the emotional intelligence paradigm was that of Bar-On and it was developed in 1988. In his theory he coined the term emotional quotient (EQ). His model is defined by a selection of abilities and traits related to social and emotional knowledge that influence our ability to cope with environmental demands. It can be viewed as a model of psychological adaptation and well-being. The Bar-On model includes the abilities to be aware of, understand, and express oneself, to be aware of, understand and relate to others, to deal with strong emotions and control one’s impulses,
