Creating Your Research Proposal
Research proposals present and justify the need to study a research question or problem and
present how the overall research inquiry will be conducted. In preparation for your blog series, you
will write one paragraph that presents and justifies the overall purpose of your blog series and
explains why your topic is important.
1. Write down the topic of your blog series. What is your topic for your blog series? How
does your cultural production tie into your topic? That’s what you need to state here in 1
sentence.
2. Write 2-3 sentences that’s explains why you chose your topic. How is it relevant socially
and culturally? Why should we (your audience) care? These sentences should be factual—
meaning that whatever you say in these 2-3 sentences must be supported by the research
you’ve already conducted on your topic or issue.
3. Write a sentence that states the angle and purpose of your blog series. What argument are
you making about your topic and cultural production? What is the overall purpose of your
blog series?
4. State the points you will cover in the “body” section of your blog series. The body section
should contain the main points you will discuss throughout your blog series. Explain this in
2-3 sentences.
