Female Officers And World War Personal Essay Help

Women in the MilitaryEssay title: Women in the MilitaryWomen in the MilitaryBefore World War I, women assisted the military during wartime mainly as nurses and helpers. Some women, however, did become involved in battles. Molly Pitcher, a Revolutionary War water carrier, singlehandedly kept a cannon in action after a artillery crew had been disabled. During the

Revolutionary and the Civil War, a few women disguised themselves as men and took part in hand-to-hand combat. The first enlisted women served in World War I as telephone and radio operators, translators, and clerks. But it was not until World War II that women became part of the regular military. Each service had its own womens corps commanded by female officers. The first of these units, the Womens Army Corps (WACs), enlisted 400,000 women during the war to work in jobs that freed men to fight. Following the war, the Womens Services Integration Act of 1948 established a permanent place for women in

all branches of the military. But promotions for female officers were limited, and women were banned from ground combat jobs as well as from most Navy ships and Air Force aircraft. By the mid-1960s, about 70 percent of enlisted women worked in clerical and other office jobs. The Army and the other services at first resisted sending women to Vietnam fearing that they would notbe able to handle the stress of being in a war zone. But 7,500 military women, mainly nurses, eventually served in Vietnam. Several died in hostile action. When the all-volunteer military replaced the draft in 1973, the armed forces accelerated its recruitment of women. In 1977, a Department of Defense report clearly identified both the limitations and potential of

female recruits at that time. *The average woman available to be recruited is smaller, weighs less, and is physically weaker than the vast majority of male recruits. She is also much brighter, better educated(a high school graduate), scores higher on the aptitude tests and is much less likely to become a disciplinary problem*. As the military modernized and weapons grew more sophisticated, education and technical skills became important. This development opened up more military jobs for women, including some combat-related jobs. For example, women became Army transport helicopter pilots and were assigned to nuclear missile sites. The rapid increase in military technology as well as changes in the whole concept of modern warfare blurred

the old line separating combat from non-combat jobs. When larger numbers of women entered the military in the 1970s, pressure mounted for more female officers. Consequently, college ROTC programs and officer candidate schools became co-ed. In 1976, the first female cadets entered West Point and the other service academies. Soon, female officers began commanding men,

a concept that had been ridiculed as unworkable only a short time earlier. During the Gulf War in 1991, about 40,000 women served in the combat zone. This was the largest such female deployment in U.S. military history. During this short war, five women were killed in action and two taken as prisoners of war. The important contributions made by women in uniform during the Gulf War led to a reevaluation of the combat restrictions on females. Starting in 1993, the bans against women serving aboard Navy warships and flying combat aircraft were lifted. Today, there is a small but growing number of women trained and qualified to fly fighters, bombers, and attack helicopters. Fully 53 percent of all career fields in the military services are now open to women. The military careers still off-limits are those in all combat situations. There are those who question the idea of integrating women into nearly all military jobs. Brian Mitchell, author of The Weak Link:

I agree. I fully support the ban. The only exception I can make is when an applicant for promotion is placed on a military service plan, that is, not on a training plan. If you meet the other qualifications, such as a job title and current age, the service member cannot change or cancel the plan or service. And if the plan is being served, this plan also needs to be renewed once in place. The new military service plans are often written by a single chief officer who, despite many years of experience, has no knowledge of the role or responsibilities of women-serving in the military or on a particular job. This report discusses three points: (1) Women were always not required to wear military uniforms. Why did women not be required to? These are important questions for the military. (2) Inappropriate or inadequate training of women in the U.S. Armed Forces is not tolerated. This report points to: 1) Inappropriate or inadequate training of women in the U.S. Armed Force is not tolerated. These are critical questions for the military. (4) The “no force policy” and the failure to define the military’s own training standards and procedures led to a lack in training standards. (5) During the early years of this war, there was a major decline in the size of the Women’s Military Program (WMLP). This new program expanded to include female recruits with the help of community members and the military academies. The WMLP has been expanding at a steady pace in recent years. The number of women in active duty has risen from 7.5 to 13.5 in 2011 and 18.1 to 20 in 2012. The number of women deployed to Iraq increased by more than 50 percent in 2002. That program and many other training programs have been expanding in recent years with greater intensity over many years has prompted the military to change their policies and training policies. In response to this, the military changed their training and recruiting policies, particularly to include women, on the WMLP’s official website and in program forums. This report takes a holistic look at those changes in policy. The Department of Defense (DoD) is concerned about these changes, but the goal was to make sure that there were at least a couple ways that men and women could get access to military training. Many of the female military recruits in Afghanistan (and Iraq) went back to their military training or enlistment before they arrived in the U.S. Military. In fact, at one time women were assigned to volunteer as officers or enlisted as staff to an additional 4,250 women. For an updated ranking of U.S. female military enlistment status, see http://www.force.mil/en/en/statements/rankings/ranking_of_sales/rankings_of_age.asp The Office for National Statistics estimates females serving in the U.S. military are 3,000 more than this. It has estimates of 3.4 million male active and retired service members and 1.6 million female active and retired enlisted service members. Female active duty women comprise the major majority of all active duty men. But many women who don’t serve in the U.S. military are, at best, just plain old women. Causes of New Imperialism

Which economic, political, and social forces were most responsible for the new imperialism that began in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries? Imperialism is a policy of extending a countrys power and influence through diplomacy or military force. Due to the new technology, the Industrial Revolution was the main economic force that helped with this new wave of imperialism. The political force was the growing powers of government. Social racism was a factor in the wave of imperialism.

The Industrial Revolution helped the economy grow and quickened the production of goods. Cotton was deseeded and woven faster than before. “The Industrial revolution helped advance the European nations through technology.” (www.studypool.com/discuss/479315/the-new-imperialism-causes-essay)

“The makers of cotton and iron goods have been very interested in imperialism. This group of import interests has been greatly strengthened by the demand of giant industries for colonial raw materials…” (Document 1)

The growing power of government was the political force for Imperialism. They were unfit for self-government. There was nothing left for us to do but to take them over. (Document 7) “Patriotism and growing imperial power spurred countries to compete with others for supremacy. It’s a matter of national pride, prestige and security. Empires sought strategic territory to ensure access for their navies and armies around the world. The empire must be defended and, better yet, expanded. Political motives were often triggered as responses to perceived threats to the security or prestige of the imperial power or its citizens abroad.” (

Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Many white men and women believed that they were superior to the African Americans and that they were just slaves. They couldn’t do anything but work in fields all day.

The Industrial Revolution gave the economic powers. The growing government power was the political force. The racism was the social force. I believe these three reasons caused Imperialism to become popular.

Womens SufferageEssay title: Womens SufferageIn the early nineteenth century, women were considered second-class citizens whose existence was limited to the interior life of the home and care of the children. Women were considered sub-sets of their husbands, and after marriage they did not have the right to own property, maintain their wages, or sign a contract, much less vote. It was expected that women be obedient wives, never to hold a thought or opinion independent of their husbands. It was considered improper for women to travel alone or to speak in public.

With the belief that intense physical or intellectual activity would be injurious to the delicate female biology and reproductive system, women were taught to refrain from pursuing any serious education. Silently perched in their birdcages, women were considered merely objects of beauty, and were looked upon as intellectually and physically inferior to men. This belief in womens inferiority to men was further reinforced by organized religion which preached strict and well-defined sex roles.

The Womens suffrage movement was formally set into motion in 1848 with the first Womens Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York. The catalyst for this gathering was the World Anti-Slavery Convention held in 1840 in London and attended by an American delegation which included a number of women. In attendance were Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who were forced to sit in the galleries as observers because they were women. This poor treatment did not rest well with these women of progressive thoughts, and it was decided that they would hold their own convention to “discuss the social, civil and religious rights of women.”

Using the Declaration of Independence as a guideline, Stanton presented her Declaration of Principles in her hometown chapel and brought to light womens subordinate status and made recommendations for change.

Resolution 9 requesting the right to vote was perhaps the most important in that it expressed the demand for sexual equality.Subsequent to the Seneca Falls Convention, the demand for the vote became the centerpiece of the womens rights movement.During the Civil War, womens suffrage was eclipsed by the war effort and movement for the abolition of slavery. While annual conventions were held on a regular basis, there was much discussion but little action. Activists such as slave-born Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony lectured and petitioned the government for the emancipation of slaves with the belief that, once the war was over, women and slaves alike would be granted the same rights as the white men.

Somewhere in between the first two years of the Civil War, the movement began to evolve to encompass all persons with a common body of “right-wing” ideas. On March 2, 1861, the Southerners united and the National Convention took place in Philadelphia, but much opposition still existed before the South voted to secede. In part that was because they felt that their long-lost brethren were too tied up in the South’s political problems to ever be able to truly grasp a unified voice of voice. As the South declared independence, other delegates led by Jefferson, Jefferson, and Thomas Jefferson became a part of the nation’s delegates as well. As well, members of his own party also formed the First National Convention in Charlotte, S.C. While the First National Convention’s platform was more of a call for a unity government, at the same time it was also demanding that the South declare its intention to secede. In May of 1861, delegates to the New London Convention, an influential conservative, decided to do away with the Constitution rather than secede from the Union. They decided not to use the Constitution by force, instead preferring to simply use a “resolution of the Congress, to prevent the Government from altering the Constitution the same as it alters its acts and statutes.” In response, General John Adams adopted a constitutional amendment that made the First National Convention declaration an “unconstitutional declaration” of the Nation’s intentions. The United States Senate refused to convene in the North Carolina General Convention, in the absence of a majority of delegates who wanted to secede. When the NSC’s 1887 Constitution was amended to make the Constitution’s declaration of powers obsolete, it declared all political power to the states. However, it passed out of the committee form the North Carolina Convention. The Convention continued to hold an executive meeting and seceded after about 1872. As is common to recent events, the Civil War eventually became a confederacy with the North (now in Confederate hands). Civil war was, by all accounts and according to much of history, a peaceful war of secession. During that time people began gathering together in downtown Wilmington. There, they met their families, their friends, and many other people. It wasn’t until the Civil War and Civil War II that the civil rights movement made a comeback. After three years of protests and battles, the movement regained its momentum over the next few years. Many members of the Black Panthers, the Ku Klux Klan, the Free the Panthers and other black supremacist groups held rallies, attended the rallies and gathered on the lawns to listen to speeches and protest speeches, and others made speeches. Eventually, the movement had gained momentum when it became clear that segregation was not an immediate political issue. Despite the growing visibility of the movement today, it was largely ignored by the broader civil rights movement that saw the civil rights movement and

Change in American Political Culture Between 2004 and 2008Essay Preview: Change in American Political Culture Between 2004 and 2008Report this essayOutlineIntroductionThe political culture in AmericaKey political ideologiesImpact of the Bush political ideologyShift towards liberalismConclusionThe political spectrum of the United States is founded under four key political ideologies Liberalism, conservatisms, populist and Libertarians. The commonly applied ideas are those of liberals and conservatives. Therefore, since independence the political wave in the region is always a tussle between the liberals and the conservatives. Thus, the conservatives have a strong association or support with the Republican Party while the liberals gear towards promoting the Democratic Party. However, between 2004 and 2008, the American political culture has evidently been shifting towards the Liberal ideas therefore, changing the political wave in the region.

From 2004 to 2008, New York-based American political activist Michael S. Doss argued in his book The Moral Landscape that there was much of America in a state of decline. Though this is true, he noted there was no national political culture of the period, which he called “the maturation of liberal intellectualism.” Doss points out that that period wasn’t merely a matter of the emergence of a “culture of liberalism,” he says: “The major political center of America had been, and continues to be, a conservative-libertarian middle class.” So as a result, liberal ideology of the period, which was the foundation of the American political system in the early 1990s, has generally been, or is now, the foundation of American political institutions. In this case, it is more than a matter of whether the liberal ideology of the period has changed in this respect, and as such, has had political or cultural influence in the form of political parties. It is the establishment of the Republican party by the Democrats and, thus, the establishment of the Democratic party — both a matter of ideology and political influence — by both parties.

The term “liberal” is often used as shorthand for a type of liberal ideology.

In his 1997 book The Philosophy of Liberalism, American activist Michael Doss used an example more specific than the common liberal ideology. “Every liberal in my lifetime has supported his country as it is today, for whom a clear moral position for himself depends on how he thinks about what his children should think…” Doss stated this with particular care, stating that the liberal ideology is a “form of American moral theory that has been very close to my heart since I came to America. That is to say, I think that liberalism is an expression of one form or other of the American moral order and culture: one of the most successful ideologies in terms of changing the world and building a country of values….”

I’ve also argued in several publications that the conservative political ideology of the 1970s and 1980s was also an important factor in how the United States developed, as Doss pointed out. I did, however note that the Republican ideology of the ’80s — which has some similarities with the liberal ideas of conservatism — has had at least one major influence over how the country has changed since then. In my recent article on the subject of how the United States changed since Reagan, I outlined how the conservative policy of Ronald Reagan’s presidency has influenced the dynamics of the conservative political movement. The conservative movement in the United States, according to Doss, is “as fundamentally conservative as the Republicans’ is liberal. If one is a conservative, then the Democratic majority is liberal,” and I think it is because the Republican leadership as a whole now believes in the notion of a radical, liberal, progressive country — and in fact does. The term also refers to a political ideology of “liberal/conservative,” which is basically “liberal-conservative.”

In this chapter I’ve looked at several possible theories of political ideology that could be put out there by a researcher. Some of these theories involve something like “a social conservative theory,” rather than a purely Christian theory, like “a conservative philosophy of life.” Some of them include “an ideology of conservative thought that was both socially conservative when the United States was formed and progressive in the years to come. Its social and economic themes were quite different from today’s American political order. Like American liberals, it has been much more progressive in many ways: it has been an American social liberalism that was influenced by moral principles. The social conservatism that America has lost is more and more liberal–which is to say, it also has become more extreme.”

My personal thought is, to put it plainly, that a conservative in

In 2004, Bush stand on foreign policy sparked the political change in the United States from conservatives thoughts to liberalism. For instance, the American political influence in other countries especially Iraq led to conflicts between United States and the involved countries. Frequent bombings including the September 2001 attacks were due to association with external affairs. Americans experienced large number of casualties due to the security, which had dwindled. Consequently, the Americans dissatisfaction with Bush leadership style prompted them to vote for a democrat leader who was promoting liberal ideas.

During his leadership, Bush sidelined the social welfare of the Americans for example, the tragic management of the hurricane Katrina. Secondly, the Bush administration distanced itself from the economy for instance, the growth of the real estate, the banking sector and the stock market, which terribly declined in value. Eventually, although in 2008 John McCain was the white presidential candidate but his association with the conservatism or Republic Party made him to lose. The American political culture was gearing towards leaders who promote not only tolerate ideas but also progressive leadership (Bowman and Hunter par.2). The change in the Americans politics led to the election of Barrack Obama who was not only an African American but also a strong supporter of liberalism.

The Bush campaign was particularly concerned about the Iraq war, in which the President had a clear “no boots on the ground” posture to be followed by an invasion. Indeed, a series of attacks on Saddam Hussein, including the attack on Kuwait in 2003, were supported by a majority of Americans. It was very well established that Bush did not support the Iraq War as it was written by an obscure US Senator Rand Paul rather than a U.S. Senator, but it was not just the American people who supported the “no boots on the ground” strategy, but more importantly the Democratic Party as a whole. Barack Obama, for example, went all-out in his support of the Democratic Party and his support of the Democratic Party, including the anti-war Party and the anti-war Party. The Bush campaign and its supporters in the Democratic Party have become involved in many areas and this has become clear to the American public. An American voter, from the age of 19, who was part of a group whose interests were very much aligned with that of a candidate was the American public. If a politician became a candidate of one party, or if it became “the” Republican party, then the American public was a very strong and influential institution in the Republican Party. As Senator, I was very strongly influenced by the Republican Party and was very concerned about the Democratic Party as a whole. I believe I supported the Bush/Obama policies even more than Bush ever had.

What were the lessons of the 2001-2007 Bush years? First Bush was always an aggressive leader and so would always fight fiercely with the foreign regimes to maintain a U.S. hegemony that would not only make it more difficult for us to fight the rest of the world but also made it harder to maintain a global order. In fact, Bush’s foreign policy was so aggressive he was already a major member of the Taliban and had a long-standing rivalry with Osama bin Laden. The United States was also the major beneficiary of foreign aid. But we had too much to lose. Bush’s leadership allowed the U.S. to become one of the major players in the global war on weapons of mass destruction and also, as of 2006, the world’s second-largest superpower. The United States was a part of the Third World war and one would like to think that Bush would have been even more successful for it because he was a big player and could also have won from there. The United States had a long war against Iran which we would certainly like to think was a mistake despite the fact that our entire civilization was under Iranian control. The United States had a long war against the USSR which it would like to think was part of that. As a result of the American intervention, the United States became a major beneficiary of arms exports, with the Chinese and others being the victims of a variety of activities. The Americans had a lot to lose. However, despite the fact that US military actions have changed significantly in the last seven years, we will never forget that the Bush Bush Administration is responsible for the huge financial losses of the US economy over the last six decades. This is especially true when we are talking about foreign aid, especially

In addition, poor social practices promoted by the Republicans whose major political campaigns concentrated on security rather than social and economic growth, motivated Americans to shift towards democratic ideas. The diversity of American social culture, which consists of many minority groups like Hispanic, blacks, African-America, gays, rich and poor

Women’S Movement And S Movement college admission essay help: college admission essay help

Women’s Movement of 1960’sWomen’s Movement of 1960’sThe entire Women’s Movement in the United States has been quite extensive. It can be traced back to 1848, when the first women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. After two days of discussions, 100 men and women signed the Declaration of Sentiments. Drafted by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, this document called for equal treatment of women and men under the law and voting rights for women. This gathering set the agenda for the rest of the Women’s Movement long ago (Imbornoni). Over the next 100 years, many women played a part in supporting equal treatment for women, most notably leading to the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which allowed women the right to vote.

By the time we all got to college, I was already familiar with women’s activism. I knew the history of women, and I knew what we had to do. And so when I was younger, when I was just beginning or just starting out, I remember telling people I wanted to be “the one who gave the women of the world a voice.” I wanted to be able to stand up for them, and I wanted to help make women a part of our culture, without feeling like they were something we could control or have control over. The revolution, too, had made women’s power a part of our society for hundreds of years. There was actually an argument in the middle of the movement to remove all restrictions on the women’s right to vote. In response, we also put a special fund behind the Women’s. This was not meant to be a grassroots movement, but to be, of course, a movement made possible in part by women and the power women gave. This was a movement made possible by women, and a movement made possible by those who led it. The women who inspired it, including Susan B. Anthony, the founding father of the political party that won the 1968 Women’s March, and the late Harriet Tubman, helped bring about many of these things. By the mid-nineteenth century, this movement started to be seen as an end to the oppressive power structures of the day. This new power structure eventually led to the emancipation of millions of women, especially children, and the abolition of abortion and other methods of birth control.

The Women’s Movement in the United States was built using technology and power, and people have known that for centuries. This is because those who came before her were people who knew about what it could do. And so the Women’s Movement was not built for people that knew nothing about us, and that helped move us and give us an impetus to move forward. The more people who understand technology the better.

In 1960, many women were organizing against racism and sexism at colleges. But I know that many people have been working on these issues for a long time now, and to help those of us who have been in our communities, and to provide them with ideas. If we get their ideas, they believe in us and think we can make it happen. The men and women of the Women’s were strong advocates of this movement. If they do not, then what could we do about it? How can we make it possible, and how can we do anything about it in the 21st century? This was the impetus for the Women’s movement: To use technology to empower people. In 1968, after a lifetime of study on technology, I met the most important women—the first women

But when the “Women’s Movement,” is referred to, one would most likely think about the strides taken during the 1960’s for equal treatment of women. The sixties started off with a bang for women, as the Food and Drug Administration approved birth control pills, President John F. Kennedy established the Presidents Commission on the Status of Women and appointed Eleanor Roosevelt as chairwoman, and Betty Friedan published her famous and groundbreaking book, “The Feminine Mystique” (Imbornoni). The Women’s Movement of the 1960’s was a ground-breaking part of American history because along with African-Americans another minority group stood up for equality, women were finished with being complacent, and it changed women’s lives today.

The Women’s Movement was significant in the 1960’s because yet another minority group was standing up for equality. Females across the nation started speaking out against gender inequality. Discrimination in areas such as the workplace, marriage, and government had

become overwhelmingly obvious and women started fighting back (Banks 207). This uprising coincided with the Civil Rights Movement. During the same time, African-Americans were standing up against segregation and for racial equality. These two movements went hand-in-hand, as they both had similar motives. Both women and blacks were fighting against oppression in their own country, and they benefitted from each other’s successes. But it wasn’t strictly these two minority groups standing up for themselves during this time, as Mexicans and Native Americans joined the cause too. They also spoke out against inequality by hosting similar protests and demonstrations as the black and women’s rallies. This showed how the 1960’s were a popular time for minority groups to take a stand and make their voices heard, and women were only one of the many groups of people who rallied for change during that time.

In the 1960’s, women had been placed in stereotypical roles for years. But women were tired of these roles and were done with being complacent. They felt like something was missing in their lives, and they desired something more. The typical American woman was married with a couple children, and her job consisted of taking care of her children, her husband, the house, and running errands. This was known as being a housewife. These women were beginning to get bored with the same monotonous jobs everyday: cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the family. The women who actually had legitimate jobs were most likely secretarial clerks, nurses or teachers. But women everywhere were ashamed to admit their dissatisfaction in their lives because they didn’t realize how many other women shared their same feelings. Betty Friedan realized this problem and in 1963 she brought it to light in her book “The Feminine Mystique.”

This influential best-seller pleaded to all Americans to reconsider the myth that women were fulfilled in their roles as housewives (Charters 493). Millions of women were enlightened to know it was not just themselves that were suffering discontent in their homes. This brought the women of America together and therefore initiated the Women’s Movement. With women’s issues out in the open and millions of women rallying together, optimism among females greatly increased in the 1960’s. They began to realize they did not have to be held to the “housewife” role as they had always been. More women went on to college to pursue higher education, and then hopefully an actual job in the workforce. The complacency that had clouded women for so long was slowly disappearing (Friedan, Feminine Mystique, 82).

The Feminine Mystique

It is also a feminist statement to say that feminism is nothing more than a collection of different beliefs.

Moral Issues

There are some interesting moral issues that the Feminine Mystique is trying to cover in its recent “Moral Awareness Campaign” .

The first is that the feminists are using the same ideology that they used to fight sexism against men in their day, that is to say, those who are more socially acceptable were asexual (Humphrey, 1984). Many of these feminists claim that sexual “violence” was part of their “evolution” and that sexual morality was an inherent part of male sexuality (Friedan, Feminine Mystique, 81).

The other moral issue is that feminism is trying to tell a story of sexism, while claiming to want to help, but that they themselves are on the verge of making such a point!

It is important to examine the feminist issue from a different perspective because many the feminist message is based off an assumption that the men to men relationship is just and fair in terms of their individual experiences (Friedan, Feminine Mystique, 81).

The other moral issue is that feminists are trying to tell a story based off of the myths that men were in charge. Some of these myths have been brought up as far back as a child’s birth, and it would be foolish to believe that this was never a reality until they were brought forth on television, in the 1950s, and in films such as these.

The Feminine Mystique: the Feminine Mystique is a great book that shows what it sounds like to live under such a system.

The Feminine Mystique: the Feminine Mystique presents the story of how we got to know one another and how we learned from each other.

Moral Issues

There are many other important points to examine about the Feminine Mystique because it is based on a “cultural problem” created by certain cultural and historical circumstances.

First, men were not taught this lesson while women did too.

Second, it is still possible that some of the women present in the book made some of these statements in their very early days, as the feminist movement became larger.

Third, some feminists have made statements which they find distasteful and even offensive.

Fourth, many of the positions the Feminine Mystique focuses on are highly anti-genderist as well.

To some extent, many of the Feminine Mystique’s opinions on masculinity are just plain wrong (Friedan, Feminine Mystique, 81).

In contrast, many feminists are very anti the idea of “straight men”.

While there may be some evidence on the part of many feminists that the term “straight male” is inherently offensive and harmful, many of them do not consider the term “straight white male” to be the same thing.  Those who consider themselves “straight” will find much that makes

Finally, the Women’s Movement changed the lives of women today. If the determined women of the 1960’s wouldn’t have finally taken a stand against unequal treatment, we could easily still be in the midst of a women’s movement. One can see that today’s world is greatly different than the one of the sixties. Many more women are working outside

World War And Women Of America grad school essay help: grad school essay help

Women After Ww2Women After Ww2After World War II the women of America had new choices and old problems facing them. They had the opportunity to be well educated, make their own informed choices about birth control. These same women who had won the semi-equality they had been fighting for, now must face their choices and be the best wife and mother they can be. Many women felt they were not meant to be only mothers and wives and tried to take matters into their own hands and some even remained single working women.

Parents, not only mothers of this period in America’s history had a great role to fulfill, they had to prepare their families for atomic warfare. Parents were told to love their children “with a never failing love, affection, and the assurance of being wantedwhere neither father or mother should reign supreme.” (Pg.411) Girls were to be given the same opportunities as boys , and parents had to keep a strict sense of discipline children and let their abilities blossom and help then grow in social behavior. To these parents to grow in social behavior. Children who behave were a direct reflection on their parents even more so their mothers.

In the time after World War II many people believed in a very idealistic idea of what the world should be. They believe that even potential parents should be skills in parenting and trained to be a good parent. (Pg. 412) All of these potential needs parents may need one day sound like a great idea, if you wanted to be a wife and mother and happy homemaker. Many women of this time had enjoyed “an education identical with that of her brother” and “ expect to be allowed to select any kind of work for which she has inclination and training…and expects to marry.” (Pg. 412) This was the real beginning of the modern working women. These forward thinking women enjoyed freedom their own mothers and grandmothers had only previously dreamed of. These modern women could decide where to live, when and who to marry and whether to stay married as well as new contraceptive which allowed a new ability, family planning. (Pg. 412)

In spite of the idealistic world view, as a generation of women have grown older, women have evolved to expect more. They have learned, and have learned not to let any women’s expectations influence what they are married to by making the decision it does. For now, it seems reasonable to ask why as a generation as a whole would not want to make the same choice as their daughters. It seems understandable that what should be a family would want to take care of a large family with children, especially those with young children. But as long as the parents cannot agree on how the couple’s future children should be, the child’s future life isn’t going to be better. Many women know that this is true. How can women feel comfortable with a family so in essence, they will simply not want to have a family? Shouldn’t more than 5% of a given family have kids to go into parenting? If even 2% to 2% of a family wants kids, then that family will be on average better, but it’s far better to have children to go to school (and also to go to college). The fact that women will be happier now that their children are a majority will be not the most interesting effect of women wanting to have their children. But maybe women want to believe that they need the opportunity to find success in whatever field they may have (and this seems to be the case with the work of today’s employers in this country). But there is another consequence of the belief model of modern life. The belief model of family was founded upon the assumption that the man’s role in a single-parent household was as to make the two great parts of the family equally important. Thus both men and women are responsible for providing the family members with the support they need. But that responsibility is not equal in this family, as in any other family. Women would even prefer that one part of a relationship be taken for granted because they are the one to manage it. The idea that we men are only interested in “a family” that lasts for just one and only time is simply not true in the modern family. Women want many aspects of every parenting job to be done for them as they can to make sure they will be as involved as possible in the activities that the wife and mother do, but they are not in control of what role the wife and mother play. The woman herself is in charge of their entire life. However, in the family they are in charge of making sure the children, grandchildren and good and poor children are raised, but the husband does not have the moral authority to control the lives of his wives, who may be forced to sacrifice their own physical and spiritual quality for the welfare of his grandchildren and good and poor children. The husband is also responsible for his wife making sure that the husband will provide the childcare for his grandchildren and good and poor children.

Women have to find a way now and are asking us to give them another chance in this world with a family with four children. As the child of a mother, she needs other children as well. This is how they become parents and become mothers. The only reason why mothers are less supportive nowadays than they were, is because they are no longer in control of the life of the children being left to care for by them. The man was always there to give them everything but now he is controlling and controlling and treating them just so badly. The job is to find ways to get more children so that they need their own children, but the husband is not, but he is still controlling and treating his wife and his children so badly that

The women who chose to work and have families encountered a new problem, the demand of their constant energy and attention. (Pg.413) Women against working mother took the case that the home will take second position and that daycare or other supervision does not substitute for the love and care of a mother who will end up “deeply in conflict and only partially satisfied in either direction….which is essentially a denial of her femininity”(Pg.414) A women was not supposed to feel dominance in the family but feel that “ a husbands love and children are to them the entirely adequate answer” (Pg. 414) This new breed of working women and mothers felt they had to make a choice and were made to feel like they were failing their families if they weren’t their first choice. (Pg. 415)

The Women of the Revolution

This is the new feminism of the women in history. Women have begun to understand that the women in history, and I mean my men, do not have to believe what I have written. Women have to take responsibility for their future.

Women today have the capacity to make choices that are only possible in the family. But the choice that they make is not limited only to one position.

For example, there are women in the military who believe a husband should have power in his home. Not even a father should have power over a daughter, so there must be a power to make her feel secure that she can care for other families and take care of her children. There are others who believe in a woman’s need for a safe place for the children. This is not an exaggeration, even if I should not want a woman to feel insecure or disoriented during this life and that the man and her children can still provide love, comfort, food, and support even while a woman is in military service. This power to make a decision has been lost in our society so men are no longer taught that the strength that is required to have a successful career in the family is also in the mother․ (Pg. 416)

Women can now begin to challenge the assumptions about who needs and does not need to have the leadership of a family and work.

Women are learning to take responsibility for their future. What needs to be done differently is clear.

Women need to know that women don’t need to be the caretakers, nurses, and cooks of their families and in the home. They need to realize that there has never been a time in history when women as much as men had the opportunity to have this carefree and happy freedom and in their own families. It is time to recognize that when women need to know this, there is no other option than to have a good and compassionate family.

How can women not see these things?

We all recognize that most women in history have been struggling with this feeling. Our mothers and grandmothers worked less than 40 weeks a year. If you ask them to count the days they worked in a day or half, they can probably tell you they were only 15, though their child was not born that day and as many as 100 had not been allowed entry to the labour force that day. The majority of them had not ever had a chance of becoming working mother.

Women are not alone in their struggles. So to address these problems in a constructive way, our women must act on different and more balanced values with the feminist movement. That is why we must take different approaches to childcare to address their concerns.

Women’s History—a History of Struggle

In general, women in contemporary society have faced challenges that have been very different to what happened in the past. They faced challenges that included the rise of the patriarchy, which has made women in many places more visible in public life, the rise of

The study of history has been practiced for at least as long as civilization has existed, and it seems that every historian has a different idea of what exactly happened. This is especially true when discussing major world events, ones that greatly impact every civilization, involved or not. Of course, historical records are often lost, and it is hard to fully understand everything that has ever happened, no one knows entirely how the citizens of Pompeii reacted when the volcano erupted, for example. More recent world events have more information available, especially after the 1800s. War is one of the things historians are most fascinated by, so the historical record becomes even more expansive after the first shots are fired, especially in the infamous War to End All Wars. But, a layman may ask, what exactly happened before that first shot? Which shot was the first shot? And why was that shot fired in the first place? Historians have long attempted to answer those questions, in various ways, impacted by information about the war as it increasingly becomes available. No source hesitates in fingering Germany and Austro-Hungary for igniting World War Is powder keg, but they vary on exactly what primed the explosion in the first place.

Whenever multiple viewpoints and biases are involved, multiple accounts of events emerge, as they do in the three sources being written about. One covers why exactly Helmuth von Moltke helped cause the war, rather than being ineffectual at preventing it. Mombauer, who authored the text, is attempting to prove a very specific point, so her work only goes into detail about things that Moltke impacted or was impacted by, leaving out, for instance, just how Frances army prepared for the war, or the build-up of Serbian nationalistic tensions (Mombauer). Another lists every cause that David Fromkin felt there was for the war, from the Austro-Hungarian Empires leadership to the speed of communication in 1914. He delineates these in order to show that World War I was not a bolt of lightning appearing out of the blue (to use his own extended metaphor), and why, exactly, it could happen again. He says that he does this because World War I was the main cause for most events throughout the century after it occurred, so understanding why it happened is incredibly important when attempting to understand the entirety of the 20th century (Fromkin, 7). His point needed to be proven through a more thorough and expansive analysis of events than Mombauers, so he spends much less time on individual causes, but more time on the entirety of the subject (Fromkin). The last goes through very specific and detailed essays that explore governmental jockeying and the societies that helped begin and maintain the war effort. Since the historians only coordinated on topics, not on a specific point to prove throughout the entirety of the collection, each work tries alone to discuss a very limited aspect of World War I in about 30 pages, so they are more condensed than either of the other works (Afflerback).

In every work herein analyzed, Germany, more than the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is blamed for truly starting the war, despite the Empire being at the core of the Serbian crisis that was at the core of the beginning. Theirs was the Archduke (and heir) assassinated, and they were the ones who requested that Germany protect them while the exacted their vengeance upon Serbia, so why exactly is Germany deemed the most responsible? None of the books were published in a country that was allied with Germany during the war (although An Improbable War? Had several German contributors), but the war was 90 years behind the author of the oldest work reviewed here, so that bias is unlikely to be entirely at the root of things, even considering how the sources these historians used could very easily have been biased by just that, hearkening from an earlier time. However, most secondary sources used were published from 1970-1990, by both German and English-speaking authors, so inherited bias is unlikely (Mombauer, 298-317; Afflerbach 341-358; Fromkin 331-336). It is very likely that Germany truly did cause the war, did escalate it, or has been agreed upon by everyone to have done both or either of those things, which is nearly the same as actually having done them.

Now, the fact

Or the African American slave that wasn’t considered a woman because of her color of skin, and the upper class women that even when they seemed to have everything their life was filled with corsets, silence, and isolation. If you were any of these women would you claim having life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? In 1886 there were Chinese immigrant women who were being exploited as sex slaves in San Francisco. African American women were put the idea that she was the slave owners property, she was subject and object at the disposition of her master having no rights to oppose. Even the wives of the rich had to go trough endless labor working in pastries, fixing the clothes for the husband and still being forced to put on dresses and corsets that oppressed them even in the minimal form of vesture. The dispute that women had their rights given and were equal to men after the Seneca Falls Declaration is incorrect. Chinese women were used as sex slaves and weren’t given the right to speak against their oppressors. African American women weren’t considered women and were treated as objects because of the color of their skin. Corsets were a famous among the upper class, but not only did it make women look beautiful it gave them a different label a label full of abuses and injustice.

Chinese women came to the US to find a better life and pursuit a dream but perhaps prostitution was the only way to come to the land of the dreams. In 1886 Xin Jin came to San Francisco, the cost of her travel was to be paid by prostituting herself for four and a half years. She would have to work “voluntarily” as a sex slave until her debt was paid. If Chinese Women would have been included in the Seneca Falls Declaration then prostitution wouldn’t have been their only way of working to pay their debt. In Daily Alta Californian 1867 a Chinese woman was abused and beaten down by a group of men to the point were she was dragged by her hair down the street. Such abuses that she had to be taken to jail as the only way to protect her. None of this would have happened if Chinese women would have been acknowledged in the Seneca Falls Declaration. Chinese women were brought to Angel Island and inspected before they were send to San Francisco. Here they were checked and processed as a way to make sure nothing was wrong with them. As you can see these women were separated from everything that distinguished them as women all their rights were violated in numerous ways when they were inspected like objects before they were used by someone as a toy. Chinese women had very few ways to represent themselves and make them be heard but since they couldn’t do it, it doesn’t mean they should not be given the same rights as American women; after all they were paying to be American citizens at a high price.

African American slaves were brought to the US as early as the first colonial settlers were here shouldn’t they have rights of a woman after being a slave throughout those years? Harriet Jacobs was a slave, growing up ideas were put into her head of being property of her master and subject to his will. As young as fifteen years old she had to endure the fact that she wasn’t seen as a woman or a child but as an object, and such right couldn’t be given to a “thing.” The color of one’s skin shouldn’t play a role on freedom or liberty but African American women in the1880’s weren’t considered women which automatically took away the rights women were fighting for in the Seneca Falls Declaration. During 1851 Sojourner Truth was ignored as a woman, respect and manners weren’t shown to her because she was African American. This shows how slavery was a border that even when women were oppressed African American women weren’t even looked upon as a woman. Linda Brent was a slave she as well was overpowered to the point that simple a visit to her mother’s grave was inspected by her owner. She was tied to the chains of slavery which denied her being a woman. The upper class women were allowed to at least

Changes in Society and Economy from 1820-1860 Due to Transportation, Communication, and Market RevolutionsEssay Preview: Changes in Society and Economy from 1820-1860 Due to Transportation, Communication, and Market RevolutionsReport this essay“The rate of change in human society began to pick up in the early 1800s and has been accelerating ever since. Arguably, even the 20th century did not have such a profound impact on the way people live their lives as the 19th.”1

During the years 1820-1860, transportation, communication, and market revolutions brought about many critical changes to the United States both socially and economically due in part to canals, railroads, cotton, the settling of new portions of land as well as many other aspects.

While cotton picking had been around for quite some time already, it wasnt until Eli Whitneys invention of the cotton gin in the 1790s that it really began to shape the American market and then later on society itself. The Cotton Boom was caused in part because of all the inventions that came before the cotton gin which allowed the cotton to be spun and woven. During this time, the value of tobacco plunged while that of sugar thrived but only in select parts of the country; this caused the South to have control of almost three-fifths of the countrys exports. The problem with cotton was that while the cotton gin was able to remove the seeds quickly and with ease, it could not grow and pick it. This cause a high demand for slaves during the eighteenth century to the point that by the year 1860, slaves outnumbered free Americans 2-to-1 and the number of slave states had increased from six to fifteen.2

5 Cotton in the nineteenth century as well as the first cotton gin and the introduction of the gin into cotton production led to a rapid increase in the number of slaves that could be employed and the demand for slaves for a variety of occupations as a result of this increased demand.3Collarage

Sale rates and the impact of the economy on the production of cotton were very low. It took cotton from just 9-1/2 acres to 12 acres as a small crop with little to no labour to produce the necessary goods. Although cotton was produced relatively cheaply and inexpensively during the 1800s from 5% to 19% of the cotton crop, to today it is estimated that only 2% of American cotton fields are commercially viable at the time of its first cotton revolution.4 It is estimated that as a result of cotton’s rapid rise, production of cotton, which was already declining for a number of years, fell by a year. The economy in the 1850’s, however, began to turn in favour of a long-term strategy which had its origins in the first period of slavery in the South. By 1850, the economy had reached a tipping point and after a great many decades of being limited to a single type of cotton crop, production of cotton was beginning again from 6% of the average wheat market share. This produced a boom in cotton production and in many ways contributed to a general decline in the country’s cotton production between 1835 and 1839.5

6) This boom in production of cotton increased the value of cotton production by almost three-to-one.5

7 All about the way in which this boom came about, American cotton producers did not have the resources to produce the necessary quantities of cotton. There were some local improvements made in the cotton trade and this was particularly important for those areas in which cotton production started in the 1890s. Unfortunately, most of these improvements didn’t do so in Kansas or Georgia. When cotton was imported by the Continental states to the South the price rose so fast that the prices of cotton fell from about 20,000 USD to almost 40,000 USD every decade. In one of the greatest busts of the past century of slavery, the price for slaves went from 25,000 USD to around 50,000 USD.68 Although cotton was sold all over the country, all cotton was sold here (including by the local traders and the national markets in the North). Even though it is possible to purchase cotton at a discount at all levels, this is due largely to the fact that all the cotton is traded in the cotton-bean fields. Many of those farmers that sell their cotton are actually making some kind of surplus and will then sell it to their prospective customers that sell it to them instead. The result has been that the surplus cotton is distributed across the country to the best of their abilities.9 There were three main trends in cotton trade in America and if you look only at the beginning of the trade’s history, the two major forces driving cotton demand were high wages and an end to the cotton trade as it became more and more widely accepted across the United States.
However, there were two different groups of cotton producers in American cotton farmers: large and well educated in America. Large cotton growers were predominantly in the South and the East while the few small growers were located in North America. They were known for producing very high-quality cotton and were largely responsible

The steamboat, first made by John Fitch and Robert Fulton during the early 1800s quickly became the ideal way to transport both goods and people because they were generally bigger and stronger than the wooden ships. This lowered the rate of a ticket in steerage and allowed thousands of immigrants to migrate over to America in hopes of a better life. The United States used them mostly to transport things such as cotton to Europe while, as previously mentioned, the English mainly used them to transport civilians.

Around the same time that the cotton gin was busy shaping the market, the expansion of the West was forcing Americans to rethink how they saw transportation through roads, canals, and eventually trains.3 The first road built by the federal, the National aka Cumberland Road, was a way for the settlers to reach the early West. Before then, the roads from the East and West were mostly trails made by the Indians which were vastly out of date and unreliable. The road was also seen as a way for farmers to reach the Eastern markets to sell their goods and therefore stimulate the economy which is why President Jefferson along with the Congress approved the project at a price of 30,000 dollars.

A few years later, the Erie Canal was built as a way to commute from New York to the Great Lakes. Because it faster than traveling by wagon, lacked the worrying of portage, and had an exceptionally low cost in comparison to land travel, the canal quickly became a preferred way to travel

Slave Crime Incident And Celias Story college application essay help online

Celia, a Slave CaseEssay Preview: Celia, a Slave CaseReport this essayCelias story is a slave crime incident that has made out of the thousands of other stories and has made its way through Harper and Collins Publishing and into the hands of readers. There are numerous accounts of slaves being mistreated and some, like Celia, being used for sex, during the 1800s but very few had a voice like Celias. The author Melton McLaurin is from South Carolina, which is odd because this story takes place in a small town in Missouri. McLaurin grew up in the last generation to witness segregation, which is why I think he had strong ties to African American rights. In his research he probably came across dozens of stories similar to Celias, but what I wanted to know was why it stood out to him among the rest. It is interesting to think that among hundreds of other cases like Celias, why had McLaurin chose this story? Perhaps, it is because there is more evidence and facts in which this story is based on. But even in the book there were a few keen facts that had never been discovered. Yes, they are meaningless but if he didnt have every single fact, then why write about this one specific case at all?

The answer is simple, this is probably the most information about trials involving slaves than anyone could probably ever find. Because at that time no one cared to record slave trials because to them, they were worthless. Why waste someones time and effort on a person that isnt even a person? Records of slaves were rarely kept let alone, those of criminals. In the 1850s the primary concern of the country was the gold rush, popular sovereignty and enforcing fugitive slave laws. Because of this, the records of a slaves in the middle of the United States, whose trial was severely insignificant at the time, might be difficult to find, especially when you think about all of the other factors and important things that Americans were occupied with. I cannot believe how much detail McLaurin gets for this story, but it is a substantial amount and it definitely gets the job done quite adequately.

[quote=Gavin]I’ve been told a fair number of things about slave trials here in Louisiana. A number of people at that time were still considered slaveholders. A number of people were slaveholders, including a majority of the members of the Supreme Court. I wasn’t sure this would have been reported in a national newspaper, but I did know of some reports that did. Some folks were saying “we are still allowed to go into certain places, we’re free…, where your evidence should be if you want it,” and some folks were saying “I won’t look at something you are not allowed to see.” There were also some reports that it seems as though the State would try to force it back into Louisiana, to allow it an expanded way of doing business, but I don’t know that anyone is willing to do that.

[quote=Lemme give you the names of the “fascists” (because those “fascists” are the worst ever) I know. And now I’m seeing a lot of people saying “well, they’re doing all that I’m telling you, right?” I’m not going to lie to you.

[quote=John]You all get the points wrong… You get some more people saying, well, they didn’t vote for me, you know, this guy is, you know, a good person.” I mean, he’s in this story. And John was a great patriot. John is a well respected lawyer, and I respect how he handled this.

[quote=JohnL]Well, you know, in a few short years of what happened to him they decided that he was a bad person and that he shouldn’t be in this position. This is actually in the newspaper when he was an attorney, and he has to defend himself on issues he doesn’t support, because he said to me back then, and I have heard over and over again that he couldn’t defend himself, I was told to make myself look bad in a lawsuit. I mean, he thought I should take on something so politically outrageous that no lawyer would take on it. There are all these people out there who want to do that because it’s a huge issue, which is this new, huge issue, and I’m not sure how to respond to it. I don’t blame them. They don’t make it up on their own.

[quote=JohnL]And, John has said a fair number of things, but to say they didn’t go forward is an understatement. If you look back, I mean, when I lived in New Orleans, when I came on the scene, everybody said I was bad, I was terrible, I wasn’t a good journalist, and I couldn’t write a compelling story. When you look at that, I was like… I was just a normal citizen and I couldn’t live like that… I thought I was bad, that it was so bad in this case, I thought I’d lose what I’ve earned.

[quote=JohnL]But, in New Orleans… and you live elsewhere now, you are like an animal, you have a lot of people in the press who write the best pieces of newspaper paper that you have… who read the best pieces that you’ve read, whose stories they make sense and put out stories.

[quote=Gavin]Well, you know, you have to be willing to listen to the other side. The other side is also the same

When this trial took place Missourians were used to the implications of slavery being taken to into debate since the case of Missouri being a free or slave state had been a quite a significant case when Missouri joined the union. Once Missouri announced itself as a slave state, the slaves in Missouri had no rights. The ones that had morally kind owners, were the lucky ones who had who were allowed to be looked upon as part of the family in some cases. In Celias case, this was not the situation. Celia was bought for one thing, and one thing only, sex.

Robert Newsom purchased Celia to fill the hole in his heart that he felt after his wife had died. Celia, to his utter disappointment did not fill that hole. So he kept using her and using her trying to achieve some peace of mind but was never given that satisfaction. Before long Celia had started to resent and hated him as much as she probably hated the thought of slavery itself.

Robert knew what he was doing, but was so blind with emptiness and turmoil that he didnt care that his actions were causing Celia emotional harm. Celia, being bought as a 14 year old girl and being used as a sex slave for five years had so much emotional damage that had been accumulated that one cannot blame her for wanting to kill him. After five years she had had enough, and upon approaching Newsome in a mature fashion about the situation, he had grown so accustomed to Celia taking care of him that he didnt think twice about it. Newsome being the man that he was, thought that his action were perfectly alright in account that he owned Celia and she did not have a voice of opinion to say other wise. So it is safe to say that he thought that he could do anything he wanted to Celia because she was black and she was his property.

He had it coming, and Celia had even warned him not to try to take advantage of her again. But because of his arrogance he neglected her warnings and walked into a death trap. Newsome could have gone about things much differently and much more kindly, but he had already grown accustomed to Celias acceptance of the situation so that on the night of June 23, 1855 he thought that his requests were not such a big deal. He approached Celia and did not give up even after she retreated to a dark corner. He was then was killed by two blows to the head with a stick. This is the only witnessing that we have of the event, whether or not it was true, who is to say?

But if Celia had enough force to strike Robert dead with a second blow, I can say with quite certainty that she knew what she was doing. If she had hit him and he was still reaching for her then she was well aware of what she was doing. She knew that with that second blow she had to kill him and that she wanted to kill him. This is why the story falls short, because we are supposed to write about how the trial is unfair. The trial wasnt “unfair” at the time because during the time period, slaves were known to be extremely inferior to there white counterparts. The judge and jury did not see this as an act of self-defense but an act of hatred and anger towards slave owners superiority to African Americans. This case takes place during a time that it was looked upon as an act of hatred and Robert Newsome was killed because Celia despised him.

But this generation sees the story quite differently. We see it as Celia was defending herself from sexual assault from her master. Today we see it as Robert Newsome was the bad guy and Celia was the innocent victim. But the point that I am trying to express here is that in 1855 Celia was seen as the crazy murderer – even though it was brought on by assault – while Robert Newsome is looked upon as a respected slave owning Missourian. The act of raping ones slaves was quite common back then, simply because the mindset of the slave owners saw their slaves as property and not as humans. So they thought that they could do anything that they wanted to them without it being looked upon shamefully.

The reader is still struggling to make sense of it, especially as the story continues for the reader to relate to his own past to the present, and to what they think of her (or what they consider to be him) today.

How did you come to the attention of readers who were wondering if you didn’t have to answer the question of what was the difference between what your past was &::? This made it a lot easier for me to answer your question. You never knew, until now, how you got so far into our world that any questions you asked the reader and were asked before you.

I don’t ever stop asking and answer questions. My goal for this book is that you read and realize when you do, that you are asking a question of yourself, at the point of time, rather than simply asking the reader; for, as I say above, the reader reads and understands what he/she is reading and will give him more. As the reader goes and gets deeper into, he/she begins to find out how to read, and how to understand the history of those around him. And then he/she gains the understanding to his/her world, and to the things he/she cares about to be and to what matters most in his/her life; to those that care about them all.

Celia in her 50’s, a former slave in an English plantation, where she experienced sexual assault, and being held captive in the plantation as a child. But on her 10th birthday, Celia was offered a role in a young girl’s soccer team and decided to let her run. Her experience was to change how she would be seen, accepted and treated. She didn’t stay in the plantation, but, during the school holidays, she took a trip to the Caribbean and met two of her closest friends she knew there – The Pirate Daughter in her 50’s, who used to work for the Pirate Alliance in the North American colonies. She is told that, during the early 15 th century, the Virginians took off their pirate clothes and ran into the mountains. She recounts the experience as she sat on a bench across from the boat. She is then introduced to her friend, The Woman who ran with the pirate group. She is told the Pirate Daughter told her a tale of an unusual time when the Virginians, with no women around, rode with the pirates. Some even tried to rape her. Eventually, they let her go.

In the 1850s and even today it is easy to obtain preconceived notions about people based on their race, background, religion or wealth. Today we see it more as wealth based, but back then it was primarily based on race. Then, if you were white it became a matter of wealth but as for slaves, if you were black you didnt really matter to anyone. Thats why, with a jury of all white males from Missouri, Celias case is considered unjust. If she had been given a jury of one female and then all males I think that the prosecution would have been different. Even if if there was a black male as part of the jury with the jury still containing all males the situation might have been very different. But the point

Rationality and Its Limit

1. a) Three heuristics described by Tversky and Kahneman are as follows:Representativeness: Representativeness is the tendency to place something in a class if it seems to represent the class. More explicitly, when people rely on representativeness heuristics, probability of a certain event A is evaluated by the degree to which A is representative of B, which is by the degree to which A resembles B. When A is highly representative of B, the probability that A originates from B is judged to be high. On the other hand, if A is not similar to B, the probability that A originates from B is judged to be low. Representativeness heuristics is unaffected by the prior probability or the base rate frequency which in fact should have a major bearing on determining the probabilities of an event. People relying on representativeness heuristics are insensitive to the sample size from which they draw conclusion about the probability. People employing representativeness heuristics expect that a sequence of events generated by random process will represent the essential characteristics of that process even when the sequence is short. People expect that the essential characteristics of the process will be represented, not only globally in the entire sequence, but also locally in each of its parts. People relying on representativeness heuristics also ignore the phenomenon of “regression to the mean”. People do not expect regression in many contexts where it is bound to occur. Secondly when they recognize the occurrence of regression, they often invent spurious causal explanations for it. Availability: Availability is the tendency to estimate the probability of an event on the basis of how easy it is to recall examples of the event. As a result of availability, we tend to overestimate the probability of events that are readily available in our memories. Availability is a useful clue for assessing frequency or probability, because instances of large classes are usually recalled better and faster than instances of less frequent classes. However availability heuristics suffer from many predictable biases. When the size of a class is judged by the availability of its instances, a class whose instances are easily retrieved will appear more often than a class of equal frequency whose instances are less retrievable. For e.g. we tend to think that road accidents causes more deaths than heart attack simply because road accidents tend to be more reported in news than heart attacks. Another example here worth mentioning is people tend to believe that there are more words beginning with r than words having r as their third letter. It is much easier to search words by their first letter than by their third letter and this biases their availability heuristics because people’s search set is not effective.

Highest Rate Of Reaction And Optimum Ph Value essay help from professional writers: essay help from professional writers

Catalase Activity

Analysis

Graph 1 interprets the data shown on the table of results. The graph shows that the highest rate of reaction is at pH 7. This therefore supports my theory that at pH 7 the rate of reaction will be highest. This relate to other resources, such as books and the internet, which show that the optimum pH value for catalase is pH7, therefore there is no difference between the optimum pH and the pH used in the experiment, hence the enzyme structure is not affected by the pH and is most active.

However the graph inadequately supports the second part of the prediction, that the rate will be lowest, the more acidic or alkaline the pH level is. For instance when the rate starts of low on pH 4 (0.2) and starts to gradually increase. However it only increases until pH 5 (0.29), from that point, the rate decreases at pH 6 (0.116). Therefore the rate for pH 6 is an anomaly, as it does not follow the trend of the graph, by continuing to gradually increase, instead it decreases. According to my prediction, this rate is theoretically supposed to increase until pH 7, and then decrease again as it gets alkaline, however it does not, therefore this is an anomalous value, and will be discussed in the evaluation. The rate of reaction at pH 4 (0.2) is low because as the pH decreases, the high concentration of hydrogen ions bond with the hydrogen bond on the enzyme, therefore destabilising it by removing the bonds, so its 3D structure is affected, and according to the lock and key mechanism and induced fit model, then the enzyme is inactivated. The reason why the rate has not fallen to zero I because not all enzymes are denatured, the rate would continue to decrease until, eventually all the enzymes are denatured.

Similarly pH 9 has an anomalous value as the rate (0.84) is higher than the rate of pH8 (0.477). This again goes against my prediction, as the rate is supposed to decrease as the pH levels get more alkaline. As the pH levels increase from the optimum pH value then, the base (alkaline) conditions will affect the hydrogen bonds on the enzyme, and therefore destabilise the structure of the enzyme.

The shape of graph 2 shows how the trend should look like, by eliminating the anomalous results. In this graph it is clear to see that the rate of reaction starts of low at pH 4 and gradually increases until pH 7, and decreases after this point.

Evaluation

The experiment was a success to a certain extent. It showed that pH7 was the optimum pH level, where the enzyme can be most active and therefore have the highest rate of reaction.

The recording of all measurements carried out were carried out with maximum attention. However because the experiment was carried out cooperatively, it means that some groups may have put to use different practical techniques, which have affected the final results of the experiment. Therefore the recording of results was neither reliable nor precise. The timing, which measured the distance, the fluid travelled in the manometer, was always constant. It was always measured as soon as the hydrogen peroxide

Feline Upper Respiratory Infection or URI is caused by group of viral and bacterial infections. Rhinotrachitis and calicivirus are the most common causes. URI is like the human common cold; it causes sneezing and discharge from the eyes and nose.

Treatment of URI

Most cats get over URIs on their own with a little TLC from owners. In more sever cases of URIs antibiotics may be needed because of secondary bacterial infection.

Owners can help their cat feel better by keeping eyes and nose clean of discharge. Cats are more likely to eat if they can smell their food. Sometimes feeding them food that has a really strong smell helps. If still having trouble subcutaneous or intravenous fluids may be needed. Also keeping them quiet and warm.

Prevention of URI

* The best way to prevent your cat from contracting URI is to have them vaccinated. The vaccine should be given at 8 weeks old, again at 12 weeks and then once a year.

* If you have a multi cat house or cats that go outdoors keep dishes, toys, litterbox clean.

How is URI transmitted?

* Direct contact with infected cat

* Some cats that have already had the disease can shed the virus without showing signs of illness themselves

* Contact with toys, food bowls, litter box, bed of infected cat

*Humans cannot get URI but can transfer it by contact with the infected cat and then touching your own cat

Symptoms

* Sneezing

* Discharge from eyes and nose

* Fever

* Cough

* Ulcers

Rationalization in Unethical Behavior

Rationalizations in Unethical BehaviorJoseph S. Nicola Tarleton State University                Why do people make unethical choices? Perhaps one of the great questions for the deep thinkers of our time and one for which there may never be a definitive answer. Nevertheless, the question begs for an answer that explains such decisions and the people who make them.  Former Federal Prosecutor Serina Vash says, “When I first began prosecuting corruption, I expected to walk into rooms and find the vilest people.  I was shocked to find ordinarily good people I could well have had coffee with that morning.  And they were still good people who had made terrible choices” (Carucci, 2016).  The “why” becomes the challenge in every situation of unethical conduct.  Did the accused lack knowledge of what was considered ethical behavior? Did they lack a positive leadership example?  Was the environment where the unethical behavior occurred lacking a culture constructed of an ethical fabric? Was it so competitive that they felt compelled to cut corners to meet unreasonable goals? Was it unsafe to speak up? That is, were they at risk of losing their job?  In some cases, people accused of unethical behavior have alleged these concepts may have contributed to their choices, but, as we all know, in the end we all have choices.  While it is important and perhaps more valuable to discuss positive examples of ethical decision-making as a means of strengthening an ethical culture, there is value, as well, in showing how otherwise good people made terrible choices.  Several cases come to mind: U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte at the Rio Olympics in 2016, former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowdens national security breach, and, finally, Baylor Universitys sexual assault scandal involving football coach Art Briles.  From these examples, we will see how each accused party attempted to justify their unethical behavior and the consequences of their actions.         While out on the town with fellow Olympic swimmers in Rio de Janeiro during the 2016 Olympics, 12-time Olympic medalist—the second most decorated male swimmer in Olympic history—Ryan Lochte (Sutherland, 2016) found himself in a confrontation with Brazilian police regarding his conduct at a gas station.  In the early morning hours of August 14, 2016, Lochte and teammates said they were forced out of their taxi at gunpoint and robbed of their money and personal possessions after armed men stopped their taxi. Lochte later said in an interview that he was drunk and that he “over-exaggerated” the story (Quinn, 2016).  His story began to fall apart when he changed the facts and more details came to light that indicated Lochtes taxi had not been stopped by armed men (Quinn, 2016).  In fact, he and his swimmer friends had stopped to use a gas station restroom, which Lochte was accused of vandalizing. Lochte then changed his story to say that the money taken from him was, instead, offered as payment for the damages to the restroom (Romero, 2016).  Brazilian authorities charged Lochte with making a false claim of robbery and could have faced 18 months in prison (Savarese, 2016).  Lochte later remarked about the “robbery” that he didnt know if he would consider it as a robbery, extortion, or “us just paying up for the poster being ripped” (Quinn, 2016).  As a result, USA Swimming suspended Lochte from competition for 10 months, which cost him millions of dollars in sponsor money (Marquina, 2016).  In the end, Lochte attempted to rationalize his behavior with euphemistic labeling, by asserting that he may have “over-exaggerated” his claims (Quinn, 2016). He seemed to distort the consequences, as well, when he said that he didnt know if he would consider the event as a robbery, extortion, or “us just paying up for the poster being ripped” (Quinn, 2016).

Cause and Effect of the Water Wheel

A water wheel changes the energy of falling water into mechanical energy that can be used for machines. The water is directed into the wheel through a tube. The wheel is placed on an axle, which is connected by gearing with the machine it is to operate. There are two types of water wheels, vertical and horizontal. The vertical wheels has an overshot and a undershot. The overshot water wheel has buckets around its edge. Water is delivered to the top of the wheel. The weight of the water falling into the buckets makes the wheel turn. An overshot water wheel has a very good chance of working with a 80 percent efficiency rate. That means, it may turn as much as 80 percent of the energy of the water into mechanical energy. Though, its use is limited to making small amounts of power. The undershot water wheel is built so the water hits the blades at the bottom of the wheel. The power of the wheel depends on the speed of the water hits the blades. The undershot wheel has such a low efficiency that it is rarely used. Most modern water wheels are horizontal. A horizontal wheel rotates on a vertical shaft. It is driven by the force of the water hitting the blades on one side of the wheel. Horizontal wheels are very efficient if made correctly.

For my experiment I made an vertical undershot waterwheel. For the base of the waterwheel I cut off 8 centimeters of the bottom of a milk jug. Then out of the top of the jug I cut four triangles, four squares and four circles out for the fins of the waterwheel. After that I thumb tacked the 4 triangles to a cork. Put a hole at the end of each side of the cork and glued a skewer in each side for an axis. Then I cut a hole at each side of the base and put the skewers with the cork suspended in the middle. Then I put a 2 inch x 2 inch piece of clay shaped as circles on each side of the skewer. Thats how I got my waterwheel.

In my experiment I didnt use electricity instead I measured the rate at which a water wheel lifts a weight. Doing this determined the speed at which the water wheel spins. For a weight I used a penny that was taped to a string which was wrapped around the clay. Then I poured water onto the water wheel and timed how long it took for the penny to reach the top. Then I changed the experiment a little each time I did it and recorded the effect. The first time I did the experiment it took 5 seconds to reach the top. The second time I did it I added more clay, it took 7 seconds that

Innovative Products And Product Market essay help free

Razors and Replacement Cartridges Consumer Overview

Consumer Overview Paramount Studies from 2009 showed that consumers purchased razors and replacement cartridges more frequently than they had in any year previously. In addition to the increased usage, recent trends have also shown that consumers are often pursuing innovative products with more cutting-edge technology. Moreover, the growth of male-specific grooming products has skyrocketed in the past few years. With the media effect that attracts more attention on men’s grooming issues, men start to look for products that provide them with better quality of grooming experience. It is obvious that the sales of men-specific grooming products have increased as they become mainstream, making it easier for men to purchase them. It is therefore reasonable to believe that consumers in this industry are heavily influenced by the media on grooming issues. It would be profitable for Paramount to put more effort in advertising Clean Edge and make it a mainstream product that is easily accessible for shavers.

Product Market – Based on price and quality, the nondisposable razors and refill cartridge market is segmented into three groups: value, moderate, super-premium. While the moderate segment makes up the largest share of the market, the super-premium has been growing substantially throughout these days, suggesting that consumers become more conscious about the quality of razors and look for better shaving experience. If clean edge were to enter the market as a super-premium product for the first time, they have to spend much more money and time to capture a larger market share.[pic 1]Consumer Market – As mentioned above, in terms of product benefits and consumer behaviour, the market can be segmented into three categories: social/emotional shavers, aesthetic shavers, maintenance shavers. We can see from the table below that the largest group of shavers is social/emotional shavers, suggesting that most shavers search for products on both functionality and messaging. Therefore, Clean Edge will likely be able to capture the largest market available for its experience-focused design.[pic 2]

Women And Much Discrimination melbourne essay help

Women’s RightsWomen’s RightsThe glass ceiling starts to form itself very early on. From the moment a woman enters the work force after college, she is faced with much discrimination and unjust belief that she will not be able to do as well of a job than a man. A man and a woman, who both have the same education and training for a job, will have a considerable gap in their yearly income. In a first year job, a man will make approximately $14,619 compared to a woman who will make only $12,201. That is a pay gap of 17%(Gender Pay 1). There is no reason why there should be any gap in their incomes during the first year of their jobs. They have both had the same formal education and both have the same qualifications necessary for the job, yet they are being treated unequally. The woman has not shown herself to be incapable of accomplishing her job and has given her employer no reason to doubt her commitment to her career other than the simple fact that she is a woman. And this discrimination does not go away. After five years of constant working, at the same rate and level as each other, the pay gap actually increases. A male will get paid an average of $28,119 while a female only receives $22,851 (Gender Pay 1). This is how things have been done for years. The man typically gets paid more money and holds more executive jobs than women do, simply because they are males. A man will be paid an average of 47% more than females in the course of their lives (Gender Pay 1). Although this is wrong, this has been tradition for so long, both men and women have accepted this way of thinking as right and have just gone along with it.

There have been changes in regards to women in top positions within the last few years. However, although those advances are positive, they are still no where equal. A certain statistic may say that there has been a 14% increase in the number of women in executive jobs for a certain company. However, although that increase is no doubt positive, it fails to tell the true story. That increase is only increases from a very minute number, if not zero, of women who previously held that position. Another thing that that statistic fails to mention is that the most of them include women in that position as that company from all of its worldwide locations. In other words, only 14% of executives around that world for a certain company are women (Misleading 1). So even though this may be an improvement on womens behalf from years ago, it is still no where equal. Men and women must work hard together to make things equal.

“Its not the profession that has the glass ceiling, someone has put it there” (Brower 162). Men need to change their attitudes and actions towards women in the workplace. They need to abandon believing that they are superior to women. Most men truly believe that a woman is simply not capable of doing as well of a job, or better, than a man can do. Therefore, they become extremely unsupportive of women and fail to recognize their accomplishments. They decline to give women raises, higher executive positions, more responsibility and overall respect. Many men have very subtle and low-key ways of showing their discrimination. These men know that it is unlawful to discriminate against women, so they do it ways that can have no reprimanding consequences. They will go out to lunch, dinner or drinks with the guys, claiming that it is just a time for male bonding. But the truth of the matter is that most business relationships develop over these “bonding times” therefore, leaving the female employees out of the equation (Brower 160). Other men are not so subtle. Male bosses often deliberately overlook a female employee for a promotion by making bogus credentials that only a male would be able to fulfill (Brower 162). Men arent planning to become pregnant and take maternity leave as often as a woman does. My mother has come into contact with both types of men. She has been scanned over for a business lunch or dinner just because she is a woman. She has also had male clients wish to speak with the “man in charge” instead of talking to her (Brzostowski). These are the types of men who put up the glass ceiling for women. They still carry prehistoric thoughts that women cannot be committed to a career because they belong at home, taking care of the house, and raising the family. Women in the past never had many rights. In the past, a womans power was always restricted over her own future. They were forced to depend on the men. In society, the men were the ones who represented the women. A woman was depicted as her husbands wife and her childrens mother. These women worked in the home usually producing cloth, sewing, or being a cook or nurse to her family. But this is the year 2000. Women want to be independent, they want to succeed in a career for themselves, hey want it all-and they can to it all. But another thing that men fail

Blaine Kitchenware was a mid-sized producer of small appliances primarily used in residential kitchens. By 2006, the company‟s products consisted of a wide range of small kitchen appliances including deep fryers, griddles, toasters, ovens etc. Blaine had just under 10% of the $2.3 billion U.S. market for small kitchen appliances. For the period 2003 to 2006, the industry posted modest annual unit sales growth of 2%. In 2006, 65% of its revenue was generated from shipments to U.S. wholesalers and retailers. The company shipped approximately 14 million units a year. There were three major segments in the small kitchen appliance industry: food preparation appliances, cooking and beverage making appliances but Blaine‟s maximum revenue came from cooking and food preparation appliances and its market share in beverage making appliances is only 2%. In 2006, Blaine had suppliers and contract manufacturers in China, Vietnam, Canada and Mexico. BKI‟s market research consistently showed that the Blaine brand was well-known and well-regarded by consumers.

During the year ended December 31, 2006, Blaine earned net income of $53.6 million on revenue of $342 million. Approximately 85% of Blaine‟s revenue and 80% of its operating income came from the sale of mid-tier products.

Blaine‟s 2006 EBITDA margin of nearly 22% was among the strongest within the peer group. Blaine‟s operating margins had decreased slightly over the last three years. Margins declined due to integration costs and inventory write-downs associated with recent acquisitions. Now that the integration activities were completed, BKI executives the firm to achieve operating margins as high as it historical margins. Most of the Blaine‟s rivals were cutting prices to maintain growth but Blaine did not follow suit and as a result its core products lost its market share. Growth in Blaine‟s top line was attributable almost exclusively to acquisitions. Despite the company‟s profitability,

Perverse Incentive And Creation Of Perverse Incentives.Perverse Incentivesa nursing essay help

IntroductionIn 1981 the University of Southern California (USC)  implemented a new management control system, the revenue centre management system (RCMS), to increase financial transparency, and encourage academic deans to be entrepreneurial and market savvy. However, after the implementation several unintended outcomes arose. Therefore, in this paper the RCMS will be analyzed according to the creation of perverse incentives.Perverse incentivesA perverse incentive is “an incentive that produces an adverse consequence due to the actions undertaken to receive the incentive” BusinessDictionary (2014). Based on this definition, several perverse incentives created by the RCMS as it was initially implemented in 1981 by the USC can be identified.First, as mentioned by Holian and Ross (2010), one of the perverse incentives created by the RCMS was the duplication of education courses to keep revenues in  the school who offered the course. Consequently, many courses, e.g. statistics and communications, where offered by many different schools, so, each school could retain its tuition fees. Also, to increase market appeal to attract undergraduate students, many schools offered general education courses. Furthermore, Kirp (2002) noted that schools were participating in grade inflation and pandering to attract undergraduates. “Full-page ads in the Daily Trojan touted courses such as the drama class that required  no reading: ‘Tired of reading Shakespeare? Kill off your [general education]  requirement, sit back and eat popcorn, and watch it being performed’” (Kirp, 2002). Hence, the RCMS encouraged innapropriate courses and actions to attract undergraduates and so, to increase revenues. Secondly, with the implementation of the RCMS possible innovation projects were assessed mainly on their ability to generate revenue. As mentioned by Desrochers and Koch (2011), “the necessity to charge back has created perverse incentives (…) to give priority to projects that can be charged back.” As the schools are treated as Revenue centres under the RCMS, the financial performance (profitability) of the school has risen in importance and so, the innovation projects/ideas are selected upon their ability to generate revenue. Hence, the RCMS stiffles innovation, which is in contrast with the role and mission of the USC.

The resistance of a conductor is well known to be dependent upon the Material it is made from, its length, diameter, and temperature. I am going to be studying the resistance of wire to see how a length of Nichrome wire affects the dependent variable, resistance.

Prediction

I predict that, as the length of the wire doubles, the resistance will also double. This means that the length will affect the resistance.

Hypothesis

I predict that as the length of wire is increased a greater amount of resistance will be created. This is because electrons colliding into ions cause resistance, so if the length of the wire is doubled, the electrons bump into twice as many ions so there will be twice as much resistance.

A current is formed by moving charges. These charges loose energy as they move through the materials forming the circuit. Some materials, like metals, make it very easy for the charges to move, providing millions of mobile electrons that flow easily. Others like polythene provide no mobile electrons and current cannot flow through them.

In between these two extremes are many materials, which do allow charges to move but not as easily as metals do. As charges flow through these materials they transform lots of their energy into heat as they bump their way through the microscopic structure. These materials are known as poor conductors or resistors (they resist the flow of charges). A resistor transforms the electrical energy of the charges into heat.

The unit used to measure resistance is called the Ohm ( ) it is a measure of how many volts are needed to push 1 amp through the component.

Resistance ( ) = Potential difference (V)

Current (A)

What causes RESISTANCE in a wire?

The charges are pushed around the circuit by the power supply.

The wire is made from ATOMS.

If a charge hits an atom on its journey through the wire it loses ENERGY.

This causes the charge to slow down, and reduces the CURRENT.

If the current IS LESS then the RESISTANCE must be LARGE (If the POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE doesnt change).

What is the effect of length on resistance?

The more atoms there are in a wire, the bigger the chance that the charges will hit the atoms.

A LONG wire has more atoms than a SHORT wire, so a long wire has a HIGHER resistance than a short one.

This means that the resistance of a wire INCREASES as the length of the wire INCREASES.

What is the effect of wire diameter on resistance?

If the charges can get through the gaps between the atoms, the charges cant collide with the atoms, so they cant lose energy, so the resistance will be LESS.

There are more gaps between atoms in a THICK wire than a THIN one, so a thick wire has LESS resistance than a thin one.

This means that the resistance of a wire DECREASES as the thickness of the wire DECREASES.

Why do different metals have different resistances?

The atoms in different metals are different SIZES, so different metals have different chances of having collisions between the charges and the atoms. This means that different metals have different Resistances. Some metals are good conductors, and have LOW resistance, but others are poor conductors, and have HIGH resistance. Gold, Silver and Copper are good conductors; they have low resistances.

Potential difference provides energy for the coulombs of charges to move through electrical resistance. The amount of charge which the pd can push

Women in CombatEssay title: Women in CombatJohn ForbesEnglish Comp4/5/06Women in combatIn 1994, the Pentagon passed a law that restricts women from being in a direct combat zone. Right now there are many women in one of the biggest war zones ever, Iraq. Some females have been injured and killed while present in this combat zone. The military is violating not only the defense department regulations, but also the requirement to notify Congress when such a change goes into effect. Early next year, there is said to be a mixed-sex 3rd infantry going to Iraq. Women are risking their lives every day in a military that has specific laws stating they should not be in harms way. Should our military abide by the law and send less women if not any into combat zones, or should they continue to enhance our military by training women and shipping them to fight for our country?

When women go into combat this is a very real problem. We are being told that women in combat are being victimized and that there are no exceptions. Men in a military are being told these women are being abused. It goes back to the days when I was in a unit of about 50 women, most of whom had been married to men for many years. And even now many of these marriages are ending because the people who were married were in the military to get their family into the military and have a home life and I cannot get into a military because that’s where they’re from. But women are on the front line and they are doing it. In the last six years to date, the military has done a hell of a lot of hard work to allow women to work in the military. What it is not doing is giving women any time off with no pay. The military is not looking out for women. Some of them are still in the military and all in it. Women can’t get the benefits of work and a living at the same time to support the soldiers who are doing the fighting for us. There are certain jobs that it can do to improve the lives of those in the military. There have been a number of reports that troops in the last five years were sending women or providing them with food and protection. There are reports that soldiers are still sending people home in violation of their orders or in extreme poverty because of it. There can be no freedom for a pregnant woman in combat, or for a mother who suffers from pregnancy and child abuse. There have been reports saying it is too costly to send a child home with a pregnant mother in the field. It is not right and it is not good for our families at all. It would be nice to see a few more women in combat. But for the women who make that choice, it is the military where we make a hard decision: Should we send a woman to a combat zone in Iraq? Or should we send one to any other country where there is no law prohibiting them from entering the country? It seems to me that they are either not ready with that or they are still in the military but, as I understand it, we are not the military anymore. I want men to be a part of our military and it will continue to be a hard duty for our men to do. It is difficult for me to say that because my daughter was taken down off the front line when there was a lot of harm done to her father and I don’t know why anybody would take it easy on himself. I understand that the men are often going to be more comfortable in fighting for the country. I want them out in full light and the world goes to hell if a man is at risk. We live in this crazy, dangerous world that we live in. Our military and women here are not just fighting for the safety of our men or for military forces. We fight for you. There are other things that your men can do to help your country. Our military has a duty to you to help protect the country. So far, it has turned out that the federal government has made a lot of promises as a matter of principle. But there will come a day and a place where women become the next frontier of military power and we can no longer do that. So if it’s not right for you to be in the military now to combat, you will

Women have been fighting for equal rights to men for decades, but that battle is supposedly over. Men and women are said to be equal. Just as, Blacks and whites are equal. If a military woman has the same proper training as a man does and has served their country the same amount of years and are equivalent in ranks. Why could the woman not exceed in her mission just as much as the guy would? Some say women are more fragile than men, and they cannot take the pressure of combat. Any woman with the right amount of training could do just about anything a man can. Yes, some women are weaker than some men and not as fast. However, some men are a lot slower and not as strong as some women. If a man and woman have the same training and exercise daily they should be pretty even in endurance and flexibility. Therefore, men and women are physically equal. Now, about the pressure in combat. Can you imagine the pressure of being in a combat zone? Can you see your self sitting in a fox hole, hearing random explosions that are little by little coming closer, bullets flying by your head that is only protected by a little army helmet and the hair it covers, witnessing your friend screaming and yelling for his life to be taken for the pain of his wounds is to much to bear. Also, while this is happening you are responsible for accomplishing your mission you were looked upon to do. If that is not pressure, I donЎЇt know what is. The pressure of a combat zone would be a great deal to over come for anybody, male or female.

Many principles on women in war have been heard. Majority of the arguments sound like Linda ChavezЎЇs in the article she wrote on www.townhall.com. Her extreme title to this article is Ў°Women

Re-Organization and Layoff: Issue and Problem IdentificationRe-organization and Layoff: Issue and Problem IdentificationPHL/320Re-organization and Layoff: Issue and Problem IdentificationFacing financial crisis is seemingly inevitable for every business. The method by which its leaders attempt to remedy this situation should be carefully evaluated based on the organizational structure and priorities. By clearly identifying the root problem, control measures will be developed to specifically target the issue. GE transportation claims that the competitive marketplace “requires us to reduce costs and improve flexibility to maintain our competitiveness.” (Martin, 2013)

GE Transportation BusinessIn order for us to comprehend the underlying problem that GE Transportation explained, we must evaluate the history of the business itself. GE Transportation is a division of the General Electric Company. According to General Electric Company (2013) “was established over a century ago, serving as a pioneer in passenger and freight Diesel-Electric and Electric locomotives.” Furthermore, GE Transportation “is a global technology leader and supplier to the railroad, mining, marine, stationary power, drilling and energy storage industries.” (General Electric Company, 2013). The company is driven to assist and advise its customers in solving complications. GE Transportation delivers advanced manufacturing methods that are innovative to reduce costs and save time while delivering products from the manufacturing plant to the customer. Its proprietary software is leading edge for the Industrial Internet that converges date with machines.

The GE Corporation and GE Transportation is subject to the U.S. Government’s Competition Act‡.[1] As a result, no U.S. Federal Tax or Duty can be imposed on GE Transportation, unless the GE Corporation and GE Transportation meet certain requirements.

GE Transportation’s history

In 1934, GM purchased the Chicago-based, British-owned locomotive company General Motors. These plants were the “Diesel-Electric and Electric locomotives” (GE) of GE Transportation, but they were later renamed to produce GE TU, “Water and Motor vehicle.” These plants continued to produce GE locomotives until 1966. General Motors was a pioneer in the electric and gas transportation market to date‡ with the release of “Toyota Model T,” and it continued to manufacture the Model 10, Toyota Prius, and Toyota Prius Hybrid in a number of products.

General Motors eventually became the first company to produce a gasoline automobile in the United Kingdom. Ford and others were partners in the development of diesel automobile technology at General Motors, and General Motors’ reputation in the automobile industry came from its high-quality fuel cell cars. GE produced high quality diesel vehicles in the same production environment as it did diesel automobiles.

General Motors ‡[9] continued production of vehicles in the United States from 1941 to 1956. These vehicles made up only 0.35 percent of the total fleet in the U.S.; only 0.29 percent of Ford’s fleet remained to be the same. In 1951, General Motors was awarded the Peugeot II trademark, while Ford was awarded the Chevrolet Tahoe trademark.[10]

In 1956, General Motors had an agreement with General Electric to give Ford a majority interest in both the Lincoln and GMV-V cars, and an agreement with GM for a majority stake in General Motors. General Motors was also awarded the rights to the General Motors Corporation. In 1965, after the merger with GM, the General Motors Corporation assumed the control of General Motors General Electric (GMI), which then became GE Transportation. General Motors continued to produce automobiles, but General Motors stopped making automobiles in the mid-1950s.

During the Eisenhower Administration, General Motors ‡[11] created General Motors National Highway Traffic Administration to protect highways from hazards. Prior to that time, General Motors had been the only major automobile manufacturer to receive a majority stake in an automotive company. General Motors eventually became that company’s sole major shareholder in General Motors. Business RecommendationsTo maintain a positive image with its employees and the public, every business should use layoffs as a last resort. Most employees are never prepared for quick layoffs or forced retirements. We recommended steps for GE Transportation to follow, as control measures to maintain a positive image with the public while allowing transparency with its employees throughout the process. A reevaluation that will measure each step’s effectiveness must be completed upon individual completion. First, GE Transportation should evaluate its competition to gain understanding as to how they became more successful in the marketplace. Second, the company should attempt to reorganize its operational strategy based on competition evaluation. Third, benefits reduction should be considered. Fourth, salaries reductions should be considered. Fifth, the company evaluates critical employees to sustain operation without closing its business. Sixth, GE Transportation conducts the layoffs. Finally, the business must consider

Women Rights And National American Woman Suffrage Association ccusa autobiographical essay help: ccusa autobiographical essay help

Women RightsJoin now to read essay Women Rights1. Many groups (e.g. industrial workers, farmers, women, good government advocates, journalists, immigrants, socialists) reacted against the concentration of economic and political power in fewer and fewer hands between 1865 and 1990. What did each of these groups want (i.e. agenda)? Looking at the records of presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson, as well as prior presidents, assess how each of these groups succeeded in achieving these aims from 1880 to 1920.

Women of the nineteenth century were mostly housewives who like any other family are mostly housewives and nothing more. But some women wanted the liberation of being free and so some stay single and fight for women rights both at home and society itself. During the 1890s, an association called “National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) which is the largest women suffrage around that time. Their leaders were Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony who at the time were at their seventies; leadership was passed down to younger moderate women. There were several issues the NAWSA wanted to address to the nation which includes voting rights, women in labor force, divorce laws, birth control and promoted women’s union.

In 1896, the NAWSA began working on a second plan to change the way people were thinking about the issue of women empowerment. The organization started with four main initiatives.

The first was creating the first woman’s national organization called the National Women’s Action League, which was developed in collaboration with other public sector organizations such as the Department of Labor. It would work with federal, state, local governments, colleges and small and medium businesses in developing a national policy that would lead to the opening up of new, new opportunities for women’s work and the availability of jobs for women in their own family life.

The second was a national campaign to build a women’s national organization called the women’s organization of a nation. It would first begin by convening Congress and then by running its own women’s movement. The National Women’s Conference would be created and then by having an annual national women’s convention. This was followed by the National Women’s Congress. It was this national group in 1897 for which it was founded. In 1908, it began to receive more press than the convention itself, which was organized by the National Women’s Convention and was the start of the Women’s Action League.

In 1914, men were the second place group and organized a number of events including conferences around the country which provided women with jobs and training for their workplace. Women’s rights movement that existed in 1913, 1917 and 1923. The organization established a national congress for women’s rights and women in leadership. In 1924, the League of Women Voters endorsed the union of women as the nation’s chief representative union and in 1927 established the Women’s National Organization of a Women’s Union. The National Women’s Union was established in 1929.

In 1929 the National Women’s Convention and Women in Leadership was held. It was convened in Chicago to meet and vote for the following year. It was held before the November 1, 1930 election due to concerns of women for the future of the suffrage movement as a whole.

In 1939 the National Women’s Union Convention and Women in Leadership was held in Nashville, Tennessee and was held after the November 5, 1930 election. It was held two weeks after the October 23, 1930 election.

In 1932, the National Woman’s Congress, or NWC, was established and organized to discuss the issues pertaining to women in the United States. It brought together the many women’s organizations within the community and included various national and local bodies that were part of the movement from the beginning including the American Bureau of Education (BAT), National Women’s Commission (NCEC), WLKF (Women’s International League for the Welfare of Childers in the United States); and women and civil rights groups including the Committee for a State or Federal Equal Rights Act Rights Committee (CARH), for women’s rights.

National organizations of U.S. farmers, established to advance their social, educational, financial, and political interests. The alliances reflected frustration at the decline in the standard of farm living, a result of steadily lower prices of farm products. Their protest targets included banks, for refusal to reduce interest rates (a great financial burden to farmers, who often met expenses by borrowing against future crop income); railroads, for discriminatory freight rates; and in some areas, local law officials, for laxity in prosecuting cattle thieves. Farmer‘s reacted with anger when prices of their crops decline after civil war. Many farmers argued that the waning prices is not attribute to fluctuations of supply and stipulate but rather monopolistic practices of grain and cotton buyer. Many farmers both black and white realize that only through gathering that their action could they improve rural life. For example, the Interstate Act of 1887, requiring that

Cell Structure and Function

Biology II

Cell – The basic unit of life. Also considered as the smallest independent living unit of all living organism. This consist of a

plasma membrane surrounding a microscopic amount of Jelly-like cytoplasm.

Cell Theory

All living things are made up of cells. Some organisms are unicellular, made up of only one cell. Some unicellular organisms may be held together by a matrix or biding materials to form a colony. Other organisms are multicellular, composed of countless number of cells. The life of even the most complicated multicellular organism still starts from a cell – a fertilized egg or zygote. A zygote divides into two, and each newly formed cell subdivides. Further divisions of cells occur continuously until a multitude of cells organize into tissues, tissues into organs, and organs into organ systems of a multicellular organism. The complex life processes which sustaining reactions which the single cell of unicellular organism performs. These are the biological concepts that comprise the so-called cell theory. Basically, the concepts may be summarized into three statements as follows:

All living things are structurally made up of cells.

The cell is the fundamental unit of life.

Cells come from the division of preexisting cells.

The cell theory is one of the most important concepts in biology. The three statements answer three important questions about life.

What are living things made of?

What can cell do?

Where do cells come from?

With an estimated five million species of diverse organisms worldwide, it is amazing to know that they all share a common characteristic, their cellular structure.

How was the cell theory developed?

The cell theory was the product of the work, not of one, but of many biologists of various nationalities through a long span of about three centuries.

ROBER HOOKE (1635 – 1703) an Englishman coined the term cell and was responsible for the beginnings of cytology as a sub discipline in biology.

ANTO VAN LEEUWENHOEK (1632 – 1723), Dutch naturalist, discovered bacteria and other microscopic organisms in rainwater and studied the structure of plant and animal cells.

FRANCESCO REDI (1627 – 1697) and LAZZARO SPALLANZANI (1729 – 1799), Italian physician and biologist, respectively, disproved the Theory of Spontaneous Generation.

ROBERT BROWN (1773 – 1858), a Scottish botanist, discovered the presence of nuclei within cells.

FELIX DUJARDIN, a Frenchman, noted that all living things contain a thick jelly fluid which he called sarcode at that time.

MATTHIAS SCHLEIDEN (1804 – 1881) and THEODOR SCHWANN (1810 – 1882), German botanist and zoologist, respectively, introduced the concept that all plants and animals are made up of cells.

JOHANNES PURKINJI (1787 – 1869), a Czechoslovakian, coined the tem protoplasm to refer to the living matter of the cell.

RUDOLF VIRCHOW (1821 – 1902), a German physician, found that cells divide to form new cells. He concluded that

“omnis cellula e cellula” or cells come from preexisting cells.

LOUIS PASTEUR (1822 – 1895), a French chemist, supplied the proof for Virchows Theory of biologist.

3 Fundamental Parts of Cell

Cytoplasm – The region where the main metabolic life activities takes place.

Cell Membrane – Protectively surrounding the cytoplasm.

Nucleus – the region where the genetic material is located.

Basic parts of the Cell

Cell Wall – Serves to protect the cell, commonly found among plant cell and bacterial cells. It is compared to a protective fence.

Plasma Membrane – Also called cell membrane, works in the control of the entrance and exit of substances to and from the cell. It is being compared to a security Guard.

Nucleus – The command center of the Cell . Functions in the regulation and coordination of all activities of the cell.

Nucleolus – Found inside the Nucleus, Responsible for the synthesis of Ribosomes.

Chromosomes – Transmits genetic traits from generation to generations.

Vacuoles – Water storage facility

Cat Scan And X-Rays easy essay help

Cat ScanEssay Preview: Cat ScanReport this essayIn the twenty first century humans have developed many important tools to fight diseases. The CAT scan or computed tomography (CT) scan is one of the tools that have helped save countless lives. The CAT scan is a diagnostic procedure that uses X-rays to look inside your body with the aid of computers. It has been used for the detection of broken bones, cancer, blood clots, signs of heart diseases and internal bleeding. You can find a CT scanner in most US hospitals and hospitals all around the world, even though its very expensive. This procedure is a huge improvement from the old way of opening the body with a scalpel and looking around like in autopsies.

A CAT scan is used to look inside a person. Because of the very low price of CAT scans today, people don’t even know if a person is healthy or not. So this is how we treat it! Cat scan imaging was the first medical procedure that used X-rays as evidence of the presence of a kidney and a heart to see if a person was not sick. This led to the invention of the MRI scanner.

This technique is called MRI Scan, and it takes X-rays from the patient on the ground to check if a single kidney has been exposed, while a CT scan scans the same person. The technique was invented by Dr. Peter Heilmann in 1941, and as such it has been widely used ever since, from the time his first vision was observed to his days of his current life span. Dr. Heilmann was a prominent figure in treating heart problems and tumors. In 1941, the “Cats on the Beat,” published a paper on these kinds of tests called “A Very Special Test for MRIs,” which is not a simple operation. This would use two cameras with a small chip embedded in the outer chip. Dr. Heilmann found a few people in his lab who came close to getting a similar result. Eventually Dr. Heilmann got around to performing a scan without the chips: you were told that you would receive a 1-inch scan, and that would have caused a small amount of damage to the chip inside the device. Fortunately, Dr. Heilmann got the results of both scans and sent out a new one on time! At the time it was called the “Cats on the Beat.”

In 1943 Dr. Heilmann’s son, Fred, got himself to the end of his life with a CAT scan. Fred went to an X-ray machine and got a CAT scan and began making new copies of the scans. When he looked around at the people in the MRI scanner, he saw that all those people were alive, and the doctors were sure things were fine.

To make sure we had enough of these diagnostic tests before they happened that we wanted access to all the information on every single person in the world, Dr. Heilmann developed a single, portable CT machine which was used in the early stages of the first diagnostic tests to determine the presence of the kidney. The machine consisted of a steel tube with a screen on top in the middle. This was a metal cylinder which was about 3′ square by 3′ square. It required a large and inexpensive copper needle to be inserted into the chamber. Dr. Heilmann had already used two of Dr. Heilmann’s machines for this purpose: the CAT scan and the CAT scan and he believed that his invention was the first portable

Unlike traditional X-ray machines that only underlines bone, the CT scanner gives you much more detail. For example: the CT scanner will show a 3D demonstration of the skull or cranial blood vessels in the computers. Thats far better that a dark picture of bones. When a patient comes into the CAT scan room all that he sees is a table and something that resembles a huge donut. The patient is asked to lie down on the table. The way that he lies down on the table, will depend on what the doctors are looking for. If the doctor needs to see the thoracic cavity then the patient is asked to raise his hands. The table soon begins to slowly move through the center of the CT scanner. The scan is painless and sometimes the patients have to use a contrast dye which makes it better for the scanner to see some objects or receive and injection. Like anything in the medical field it requires trained experts and technicians to properly operate it. Thats understandable considering that complexity of the CAT scan. The best thing about the CAT scan is that its painless. Lets take Carlos for example, Carlos is going to get his pelvis looked at because hes been experiencing some abnormal pain. The doctor tells him to drink a concentration of barium sulfate. Then Carlos is told to lye on the table and raises his hands. That is all that Carlos will be required to do. It was painless and the Doctors found out that he had renal stones, which they were able to treat at an early stage.

A CAT scan isnt as simple as you computer scanner, its much more complex. The CAT scan has two sensors an X-ray source, which releases the X-rays and an X-ray detector, which examines the number of X-rays that strike various parts of the patients body. X-ray machines have that same concept but what separates and X-ray machine form a CT scanner is the CT scanners ability to rotate and receive multiple images of the patients cavities. These images from various angles are then received by the computer. The computer then uses all that data and forms a three dimensional model of that organ. By moving the patient through the scanner the computer receives several parallel images called, slices. The doctors examine these slices to better understand the three dimensional model. Sometimes, the X-ray images wont be clear enough and they will require an aid. When that is the case doctor may inject the patient with an agent that will help see the contrast of different tissues in the body. Other times, the patient might be asked to drink a substance that will make the internal organs easier to examine. When they are asked to drink, its often something to do in the abdominopelic cavity.

Nevertheless, the CAT scan wasnt just created one day by one person. It has taken several generations to develope the CAT scan that we see today. On November 1898 an inventor called Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen accidently found X-ray images from his wooden cathode ray generator. He was surprised by his discovery and decided to experiment. A week later, Wilhelm took a picture of his wifes hand and was astonished to see all of her finger bones and her ring. This picture was a scandal in the scientific community and made head lines all over the word. Just the thought that you could take a picture of someones insides was intriguing to most folks at the time. Wilhelm called these ray X-rays (X meaning unknown) but, in Germany they are called Rontgen rays. Scientists later found

Rontgen rays in the DNA of the dead, as the bones of the dead were buried. Although Rontgen rays were not available in Europe, that’s because they were more expensive and not available in India.>Since the rays were not available in India, they were not used against rats and animals as this was done with a certain method. The test was done in small doses and they were never tested without other tests (the more common method had to be taken only the most advanced ones).

The X-ray tests took an average of 30 minutes each, taking a total of 36 hours, and the test was successful.

There was another reason why the X-rays were also not produced at full power, as they are mostly not available in India. We do not have all the rays of human beings, so an X-ray was used instead to make an infrared light. When the first of the four X-rays came around, there was only one of them.In this way the rays were actually produced. The more X-rays were available in India and Europe, the better than any other laboratory technology in history.>

The only reason that we still exist is because of the great importance attached to X-rays in life.

Even if most people don’t know this, or aren’t in the habit of using the test results to confirm that they are real, one is sure there are at least fifty different variations of the same radiation known to us. Most scientists know what it is, not only in a laboratory, but also in their own heads, in their own families, in books, and even at home. The only reason that they have been accepted by most is because they are being used every day to confirm their own existence. For me, it’s an endless variety of variations and possible combinations of the radiation on its own. Even many that I have not encountered yet are just simple variations of radiation. For instance, the A1R and APL radiation from a typical Chinese nuclear reactor are just variations of APL in India and India alone.

My father is a nuclear engineer and had been a member of our family for a number of years before he started using the X-ray from the CT scan on August 4, 1905. He had had no clue that in 1900 or 1912 he was going to use the X-ray. In 1911 he decided to do it, which changed his life dramatically.

From June 11, 1904, to January 4, 1911, many of his neighbors in India and abroad had been receiving and circulating large quantities of X-rays.

It wasn’t until 1912 and later that almost all of this radiation was discovered. Soon after that there were very few people in this world who weren’t using their own technology.

In 1907, after he had stopped using his own technology, he began to

Standard Engineer And Department Of Wireless Standard essay help us: essay help us

Re-Think of an Organizational ChangeI joined Huawei, a leading global telecommunications provider six years ago and worked as standard engineer in Department of Wireless Standard and Patent. This department was set up in 2003 after Huawei received several patent infringement lawsuits from the key players in Telecom Industry including Ericsson, Nokia, Nortel and Alcatel. The mission of the department is to “build Huawei’s competitiveness by IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) cross licensing”.

In the first two and half years, I worked as a 3GPP (www.3gpp.org) standard delegate on behalf of Huawei. Standards play a key role in the telecom industry not only by steering future trends, but also by generating companies own essential patents (the patents in the industry standard specifications) for cross licensing with other companies. However, my work as a 3GPP standards delegate made me increasingly aware that Huawei’s standards activities often focused solely on patent generation and rarely conformed to the requirements from the telecom operators. For example, our standards team pushed our “multi-cast” solution in the universal mobile telecommunications system, but our product management team did not implement it in our own products due to low interest from carriers, neither did other competitors. As a result, although we could declare to own many IPRs on this “multi-cast” feature, we were unable to cross license these IPRs with other companies since no one needs it. Furthermore, such kind of standard activities would also damage our image in the operators’ eyes since they may consider that Huawei did not understand their problems and needs. However, even if the research teams were aware of such situations, they sometimes overlooked the problem. There was an obvious advantage to push such solution into standard since no other companies would block it due to lack of interests. I discussed these findings with the director of my department and proposed incorporating marketing and product strategy into our standard activities. The director of standard shared the same feeling with me, and he agreed to let me have a trial in the department to define standards strategies to guide the activities in the global standard organizations.

The main idea of my proposal was to define the position of each research topic according to the customers’ needs and our marketing strategy. With the director’s consent, I quickly found another two colleagues and built up a small team called “wireless standard strategy team” to carry on this proposal. We first went through the research areas of the ongoing projects to identify the topics that did not align with our customers’ requirement or our marketing strategies. Meanwhile, we also tried to set up some criteria to access the topics. Then, we started to talk with the project managers and persuaded them to abandon those misaligned topics. Although the managers showed their willing to change, they actually did nothing to

We developed a way of asking the customers to pay a subscription for the best services which are targeted to existing customers and also to provide the data, with the goal of helping us increase our total revenue by 500%! Our team showed us a lot of potential for future growth, and many customer partners have signed up to participate in the project

We also started to work with our customers and their management teams so that all data that is required for each project can be transferred to the client by email, SMS or other mobile service. This way we could also reach customers without having to have access to their personal details.

The second project was started from the same location as the previous one and it was called Project ENCYCLE

The new project was a collaboration of our project managers, some of them, we were lucky to meet with, who all wanted a better experience for customers to get their feedback and then provide it.

We got the results from project.org. That was a great outcome with a lot of good feedback from my customer partners, I was able to understand which issues were important and when to take action (for most projects).

The last and biggest success of this project is that it made our marketing plan more effective. The problem faced us by our marketing team was not the technicality of how to communicate with customers, or the amount of customer information, but just its the way to manage the customer and their company.

The final outcome is a better UX that enables the best use cases for this project. Moreover it means that we have a much higher number of projects, and our success will not depend on the individual success of all of these projects. Therefore we could have a very positive experience with the following clients and their team:

We have reached the high goal of having more than 50% of all product and customer experiences being analyzed by our customers

Our teams have been working pretty hard to get the most valuable experiences for their customers

Many of our clients are now in an online role due to their ability to manage their business without having to worry about losing money. Moreover all information related to customers needs to be included in the application and in the project to understand its application, in fact most of them are looking for a brand that can help their company out.

After this project was started in July 2014, we will move closer to the beginning of 2015

We believe that the next project will be a solution for many and the best of these solutions can be achieved by using different data sources, using different platforms and with different types of tools. So in this context, you see the opportunity to integrate more and better with traditional methods and new techniques of research methods

If we can take this feedback of our marketing team to more mature and more responsible platforms in 2016, why can’t other marketing tools be used to help in this solution?

Women’S Liberation Movement And Essay Women extended essay help biology

Women’s Liberation MovementJoin now to read essay Women’s Liberation MovementWomen’s Liberation MovementBetty Friedan wrote that “the only way for a woman, as for a man, to find herself, to know herself as a person, is by creative work of her own.” The message here is that women need more than just a husband, children, and a home to feel fulfilled; women need independence and creative outlets, unrestrained by the pressures of society. Throughout much of history, women have struggled with the limited roles society imposed on them. The belief that women were intellectually inferior, physically weaker, and overemotional has reinforced stereotypes throughout history. In the 1960s, however, women challenged their roles as “the happy little homemakers.” Their story is the story of the Women’s Liberation Movement.

The Feminine Mystique and Its Legacy as a Black Women’s Movement

The movement originated as a protest against the dominance and exploitation of black women as part of an American cultural project. It included, among other actions, the formation of the International Labor Organization of Women (ILOVO), organizing the liberation of the most oppressed women (Black, Latina, and Other) in the South during the Sixties and Seventies to call attention to the poverty and oppression caused by working-class rule among black and brown women, and to call attention to the ways in which white men were subordinated, treated, and undervalued. Since 1973 the movement has gathered strength and capacity in many areas of the black community where it was organized, mobilized and has grown at various times. This diversity of ideas—from feminist movements to race relations, racial and sexual stereotypes, and sexual violence—have enriched the struggle and helped shape and inspire women’s struggles nationally and internationally. Women’s Liberation has not yet developed the strategies or strategies to reach and advance the White female population.

The Women’s Liberation Movement will have its first meeting in South African capital city Mandela on April 9, 2014 in Johannesburg.

This year’s Movement for Women, an interracial lesbian/feminist organization, is looking to create a first of its kind coalition in the South African capital — and the future of feminist thought will involve the social development of African women in general. In the coming months, the Movement for Women and the Women’s Liberation Movement will be taking a lead in bringing lesbian/feminist activism to the people of South Africa. The movement will participate in “a national mobilization for sexual and racial justice, for social inclusion in the post-revolutionary struggle for national liberation from domination and exploitation of women’s rights, and for political liberation of women across South Africa.” The United Nations Programme on Women and Girls in Conflict (UNWA) is an international organization with a goal of promoting a democratic and non-institutional social social transformation in South Africa.

About the Woman’s Liberation Movement and the Women’s Liberation Movement

The Women’s Liberation Movement, founded by feminist and Black liberation movements, aims to create a unique interracial and transracial feminist relationship and to transform blackness. The Women’s Liberation Movement believes that “women may see our oppression as a black experience only, that it should never be left to white men to make white women feel comfortable, and that

The struggle for women’s rights did not begin in the 1960s. What has come to be called “Women’s Lib” was, in fact, the second wave of a civil rights movement that began in the early 19th century. This first wave revolved around gaining suffrage (the right to vote). Earlier women’s movements to improve the lives of prostitutes, increase wages and employment opportunities for working women, ban alcohol, and abolish slavery inspired and led directly to the organized campaign for women’s suffrage.

The movement towards women’s suffrage began in 1840 when Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton went to London to attend a World Anti-Slavery Society Convention. The were barred from attending and told to sit in a curtained enclosure with other women attendees if they wished to meet. This incident inspired Mott and Stanton to organize the First Women’s Rights Convention which was held in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848. Three hundred women and some men came. The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, which stressed equality among men and women and also listed grievances, like women’s lack of voting, property, marriage, and education rights, was written at the convention and signed afterwards. This event inspired other conventions, like the first National Women’s Rights Convention in 1850, and the formation of organizations, like the National American Women’s Suffrage Association in 1890, both of which aided the fight for women’s suffrage.

After women got the right to vote in 1920, the most devoted members of the women’s movement focused on gaining other rights for women. Alice Paul and Lucy Burns, who had created the National Women’s Party in 1916 to work for women’s suffrage, turned their efforts toward passing the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). This amendment, which would make all forms of discrimination based on sex illegal, did not receive significant support and never passed. Arguments against the ERA, advocated by social reformers, such as Florence Kelley and Jane Addams, along with administrators in the Women’s Bureau of the Department of Labor, were that the ERA would, in reality, eliminate protective legislation for women, harming working-class women instead of helping them.

Another issue that the Women’s Rights Movement undertook was women’s reproductive rights. In early 19th century American society, a husband could legally demand sexual intercourse from his wife, even if she didn’t consent. Because of this, the issue of birth control began to surface among women activists. Margaret Sanger and Emma Goldman started advocating birth control in the 1920s. The American Birth Control League, which would later become the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, was founded in 1921. Throughout the 1900s, birth control would remain an important issue in the Women’s Rights Movement.

In the 1960s, the second wave of the Women’s Rights Movement began. Attitudes toward women in the 1960s were not very different than they had been in the 1920s, so in the 1960s women began again to fight for their unattained equality. World War II had brought large numbers of women out of their homes and into the workforce. Many women began to acknowledge their dissatisfaction with being only a wife and mother with no means for a career. Betty Friedan was a woman who wrote about her experiences as a housewife in her book The Feminine Mystique. She wrote about the buried and unspoken “problem,” that lack of fulfillment that middle-class, educated suburban housewives could not identify within their lives, but knew existed. Friedan helped launch the modern wave of the Women’s Rights Movement by inspiring thousands of women to look beyond their roles as homemakers for fulfillment.

The Feminine Mystique was written by Joan B. Fowle, who is also a senior researcher in women’s studies.[3] There are very few women historians of the 1970s and early 1980s, so we can only speculate that this first wave of the women’s rights movement started when, between 1975 and 1982, most of the women were doing what their husbands had promised about women becoming “equal partners” to men. If they were still doing this, we can think of many reasons it is not fair that “equal partners” and “equal mothers” should not be the same thing.[4]

I have seen the following comments on a similar blog by:

I cannot believe that it is possible in the Western world to know what was said about women in the 1960s and 1970s by the people who worked in it. These who used to work in the United States and now work in the Canadian province of Quebec, say the same thing, they know of only the women who have married men, but have taken men’s wives as wives too. The people who were said “We need to know” are those who once married men, but have taken men´s wives, but now believe women have no meaning for them. They know that men are always their husbands, and even this sometimes means men and women do not have the same obligations. And yet they believe only those men who are married to men should be held accountable for their wives´s decisions. If there are few women workers who understood what was said about women’s right to pursue any kind of marriage, it is also much more likely that some of their men will have little idea what was said about women in this time period. I do not think anyone at this point is saying any kind of woman is more entitled to her husbands than she is.

My position when I talk about the history of my family and what happened to my parents in the 1970s (not to mention the Women’s Rights Movement, or feminism) is that this was not a single event of a single single woman, or even any of the things “women” were said to be doing.[5] I cannot say I was at the forefront of their effort to reclaim the rights of women everywhere and at the same time that I am proud of the work I had done over this period to ensure they would not be judged by the way they treated women during the era.[6] (What I believe occurred in my family was that things took a sudden back up, and it did not show up on the timeline I was given the time to build upon for years, when the new feminism was coming around, of course, which is why those people called people of my family “men’s rights women.”) I was concerned about what I would later say to friends, family, friends of mine, and many others; I do not believe I was at the forefront of their effort to reclaim the rights of women everywhere, especially at the start of their work; I feel certain that I have gone some way to restoring some of their “underclass roots”, to restoring the notion that even though women were always equal to men, there never seemed to be enough work done to ensure that this was true.

An interesting point I am making here is that the last time I talked about feminists, I did not talk about them in a way

By 1968, people were starting to talk about “Women’s Liberation.”

Critically Assess the View That Ethical Judgements Should Be Based on Natural Properties or Nature

Critically assess the view that ethical judgements should be based on natural properties or nature

In this essay I will explain the idea of meta-ethics through ethical naturalism, part of ethical cognitivism and ethical non-cognitivism. I believe that ethical judgements cannot be based on natural properties or nature because I don’t believe that anything is objectively right or wrong, and therefore ‘good’, for example, doesn’t have any natural properties (something objective that can be identified empirically) and so cannot be defined.

I will first approach ethical naturalism. Ethical naturalism claims that ethical statements can be translated into factual statements, and therefore can be verified or falsified. In other words, moral statements can be proved or disproved through empirical evidence. For example, saying “X killed someone” and “X is a bad person” would both be viewed as factual information to the ethical naturalist, as they believe that through behaviour one can judge whether or not someone is a good person. In this case the behaviour of X killing someone has defined him or her as a bad person. However, does killing someone actually make you a bad person? What if X killed this person to save him or herself, or to save someone else’s life? So killing someone doesn’t necessarily define ‘bad’. Now to say “X is a bad person” means that you have made two presuppositions. The first being that it can be proven by empirical evidence, and the second that it is mass approved, i.e. something that is generally thought to be either right or wrong by most people, or it can be proved through a scientific method. Here all ethical statements are basically reduced down to statements of approval and disapproval.

However there are huge problems with this theory. The first, thought of by Hume, is that it isn’t possible to get an ‘ought’ statement from an ‘is’ statement. Ethical naturalists try to make ‘good’ and ‘bad’ etc. descriptive, rather than evaluative. Hume says that this isn’t possible, if one person says “X is a bad person” doesn’t mean X is a bad person, nor does it mean someone else will say, “X is a good person”. Ethical statements simply cannot be derived from fact because the former (ought) is evaluative and the latter (is) is descriptive. This exposes the fundamental philosophical flaw of ethical naturalism- that value judgements can be deduced from actual statements.

Hume’s law is backed up by Brandt, who expands on this idea. He says that the only time an ethical conclusion can be made from a statement is if the original statement had an ethical component in it to begin with. For example, if a certain act maximised happiness for all is seen as ‘right’, then in that specific situation, telling a lie to someone would be seen as ‘right’ because it would maximise happiness for all

Women’s Fight for Social EqualityJoin now to read essay Women’s Fight for Social EqualityWomen’s Fight for Social EqualityIf I were to teach a class that dealt with the twentieth century in America, I would choose to make my focus the women’s struggle for social equality. Comprising fifty-percent of the population, women are by far the largest “minority” in the United States. Through them I could relate the most important social, political and economic trends of the century. Their achievements, as well as their missteps, tell us a story of America that we most often hear of in snatches, or read about in digressions. Though we are making an effort to improve women’s right for equality, the American dream is still yet to be achieved by many mothers, sisters, aunts, wives, and daughters.

The Feminist Party

The American Feminist Party is a grassroots political party on the rise. Unlike other grassroots political parties the American Feminist Party does not use the term “female” as a social label. Rather, the feminists of America stand in solidarity with women and support their work. Women speak out and participate in all branches of the political community, from law and business to politics and policy. The National Feminist Caucus is an influential group. It has helped make women more visible, as well as promoting a feminist agenda. Since its founding in 1989 the Feminist Party has expanded its leadership range, focusing on issues such as education, women’s issues, health care and economic policy. More than 600 members have been registered for membership and over 3 million members live in the United States, representing a wide range of social and political views, some of whose members represent women. For more information, visit the Women Party website.

America’s Feminist Party has led the way in promoting a free and equal society and for women in the workplace—everyday! Our call was not an election campaign or the election of a president.

If that were not enough, the American Feminist Party had no issue with the recent protests outside of your hotel. A group of activists from around the country, including members of various other grassroots organizations, gathered in front of your hotel last week in solidarity with your hotel, urging the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The group’s website states with striking emphasis:
http://www.americanfeministparty.org

“Our call was not an election campaign or the election of a President. Our call was not an election-related campaign or election-related government crackdowns. Our call is, in fact, a call for immediate, transparent, fair, and fair oversight and, more importantly, for independent, transparent investigations to be made of these actions by the FBI and Justice Department of the United States.”

Since its founding in 1989, the American Feminist Party has grown from a small group of grassroots organizers who had supported women’s rights to large, vocal membership of activists who want to take on the issues facing many, many women and all of us who were oppressed in the process. If you are interested in joining, please browse our Membership &#8802 by name. The membership structure is completely open. The women you know, don’t you know, can join us, and we will take care of everything that comes our way.

We also have an official website and social media accounts at http://www.americanfeministparty.org as well but it is a very informal site of our office (we usually do not publish to the people who work with our office). As a member of the Women’s Party we are proud of this.

We offer a wide range of benefits, including a free (in person) day and a paid (online, in person) visit to your local library.
Our goal is to help you stay alive. We do not do it out of convenience. In fact, if your business is concerned about your safety, we are concerned about your safety. Because of that we have decided to take steps to change our policy against “illegal and illegal immigration” while keeping our policy for women and LGBTQ Americans in line.
