Is a Higher Education Worth the Price?

Liberty University

ENGL 101

High school graduation is the pinnacle for most high school students. Most of them are filling

out college applications and applying for scholarships, grants, or financial aid. While, some

parents have been putting away for children if they chose to go to college as well as those who

are better off paying out of their own pocket others are getting loans to pay for their child’s

college. In a world where most people tend to go to online classes or just get a certification or for

job, is getting a higher education worth the price?

Anyone who understanding Macbeth was a genius in my advance literature class in high school.

The levels of learning are based on how well the student mastered one course at time. In

Elementary, students are provided the basis to master math, english, and reading. Each grade is a

prepares the student for the next phase of the previous course. I remember having a summer

book list for the next school year. Once the fall semester started we were assigned book reviews

and projects. I would like to say that during high school all my friends and I could think about

was being well prepared for college. But honestly, the only thing I was thinking about was

graduating and moving out my mom’s house. I never studied for a single class, I just went to

school and as long as I passed and graduated with my class. At this time I did fairly well on my

ACT. I got offered a few scholarships to different colleges that I applied to locally and in the

southeast I took the one that offered the most money and was the furthest away thinking it was a

god send but in less than a semester I was back home working a dead in job because I felt it was

a waste of my time and I needed money to survive on my own something I did not have.

The question still remains… What does it meant to be educated and is it worth the price? It helps

to invest in your education when you can afford to do so. You may have to pay for reduced

teacher student ratio in High school. Which helps the student to retain and excelled in there

studies. Attending community college allows you to excelled in your courses without the added

stress. This is also an effective way of reducing the cost of college electives. As Kohn states, “ It

would be a mistake to reduce schooling to vocational preparation, if only because we can easily

imagine graduates who are well-prepared for the workplace (at least for some workplaces) but

whom we would not regard as well-educated (Kohn, 2003). Once you get into your field of

choice, you may find all the years of mastering Algebra to be not needed. So many college

students get a degree that they never use. It’s obtained as a requirement toward there life long

career. Quiet often you never use your degree in your career. Most of us can’t

Balancing the Klamath Basin

The Klamath Basin was once one of the largest salmon producers on the West Coast, starting at the Klamath Basin, going through the Cascade Mountains, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This beautiful river was once full of natural wildlife, such as Chinook, Coho, Pinks, Chum, abundant steelhead salmon, and an enormous amount of waterfowl. However, the Klamath salmon have declined to about 10% of their original population, and the Coho have been placed on the Threatened list of the Federal Endangered Species Act, which is just one step up from being considered endangered. These salmon have always been considered a significant food source for the Native Americans, commercial fisherman, and sports enthusiasts, but some drastic changes to the Klamath River have threatened the salmon population. Hydroelectric power plants that have been placed on the river have significantly reduced the number of salmon spawning in the rivers and tributaries and lowered the water levels. Today, conflicts over water resources in the Klamath River are a major issue. Important elements to this dilemma include; waterfowl, diversion, salinization, floods, and salmon population. We must work together to solve the controversial issues that involve the farmers and the hydroelectric power plants on the Klamath River to ensure a healthy population to the salmon.

One of the main problems between farmers and the salmon is that they are both in great need of the water in the Klamath Basin. Historically, the Klamath River has been modified by man for the last 100 years. In 1907, the bureau of Reclamation entered the Upper Klamath Basin with a project to “Let the deserts bloom” (Spain 2) This project was to divert the water, alter the upper basins natural water flow, and farm what is now a dry lake bed. Currently, the Klamath Irrigation Project covers 204,000 acres of land that is used for farming. By putting these farmers into business, this increased the demands on water. In April 7, 2001, some changes were made, leaving farmers with no water. That year, the farmers lost most if not all of their crops due to the lack of irrigation, which put many of the farmers into debt. Some of these farmers were so badly hurt that they had to sell off their equipment and some of their land to get by. While the farmers were losing their crops, the water level in the Klamath River was restored to its normal flows, causing the salmon population to rise. While it may seem that this helped the environment, it really made it even worse. The Klamath Basin is known for its waterfowl, such as ducks and geese, and not to mention the Bald Eagle (Baccus 3). The Klamath refuge has the largest number of Bald Eagles in all of the U.S. other than Alaska. As the salmon got all of the water, the amount of waterfowl in the Klamath Basin decreased dramatically; this in turn hurt the Bald Eagles. That next year, President Bush had a different outlook on this situation. The water rights turned the other way, leaving more water for the farmers and less for the salmon. So obviously, the farmers were happy growing all of their crops, but then again the salmon were dying off. The salmon and the farmers both need to find a state of balance so that the Klamath River will have a regular flow for both. So what would be a good way to make both sides happy? One way to keep both sides at an equal balance is to find a different way for the farmers to get water. To do this, one solution would be for the farmers to use pivots in their fields instead of regular water lines. A pivot is an irrigation system that is in a form of an overhead sprinkler. These pivots are made to pivot around the field in a circular motion, and the best thing about these pivots is that they will run off wells, just like the well you may have at your house (New) . The second way to better balance the water utilization is to let the farmers take the water part time of the year, when they need it for their crops; when they are done, close the water back off so that the salmon will receive it during their main runs up the river. If these were in consideration, this would help both the farmers and the salmon population dramatically.

Another issue that is harming the salmon is the hydroelectric development that began in 1917, when the first of the two dams were completed, the Copco Dams. These dams

On September 11th 2001 the world was shuck when they heard that terrorists attacked the United states, they hit the twin towers and the pentagon with an airplane!, this is what lead to the Iraqi war that we are still fighting to this day.

In 1991 President George Bush sent U.S. troops to Kuwait to force out Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his troops who were trying to take over Kuwait, this starting the Persian Gulf War. This war started in 1991 and this war also ended in 1991 and an agreement was made between George Bush and Saddam Hussein. The agreement was that Iraq must destroy any chemical and biological weapons they had. This peace treaty also said that United Nations inspectors would search Iraq on a regular basis to make sure these weapons were being destroyed. This kept Iraq from buying and selling oil and weapons until the United Nations confirmed that Iraq was complying with the peace treaty. Then came September 11th an attack that shocked the nation. Two United and two American Airline airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and flown into targets in America. There were at least four to five hijackers on each plane. They were armed with knives, and having at least one person among them capable of piloting the plane. The hijackers took over the planes, got rid of the pilots, and directed the planes on suicide missions. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Centers Twin Towers in New York City, another into the Pentagon in Washington DC and a fourth in Pennsylvania. In the initial weeks following September 11, the media estimated for the total number of fatalities at the WTC, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania was six or seven thousand . As weeks and months went by, that number just an estimate, it ended up only being 3000 people.

The Us and Canadians and lots of others have been in Afghanistan for many years. It has been an important front in the on going war against international terrorism. Recently, in the war in Afghanistan, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) seized bomb-making materials in a warehouse and a nearby organization. The materials were ammonium nitrate fertilizer, which not only could nourish plants with their high nitrogen content, but could also be used as an improvised bomb. With the materials found were also bomb parts. The find has saved the lives which could have been killed in the couple hundred bombs that could have been produced by

This essay will include an analysis and summary of the text “Baglady”. The essay will also contain a description of the characters, the setting and symbols in the story. The text “Baglady”, written by A. S. Byatt, we are introduced to a fiction short story about a middle aged woman named Daphne and she’s attending a business trip with her husband and the company he is working in, to the Far East. Daphne then experiences some oddly things on a shopping trip.

The short story starts in medias res, where we see Lady Scroop talking to the rest of the ladies about the upcoming shopping trip she has planned for them. Daphne Gulver-Robinson’s husband is in a meeting with the directors of the company “Doolittle Wind Quietus” and all the wives of the directors are breakfasting together. Most of the wives are very elegant , and Daphne feels threaten by the other ladies because she is older and dowdier than them. “She has tried to make herself attractive for this jaunt and has lost ten pounds and had her hands manicured; but now she sees the other ladies, she knows it is not enough.”

In a flashback, Daphne tells her husband Rollo, that she would rather stay with the geese and the fantail as usual. But Rollo convinces her that his boss, Lord Scroop, would be angry if she didn’t come along, and he also assures her that she might like the other wives .

Lady Scroop tells the wives that they may spread around in the mall, but they just have to be back on the front entrance at noon precisely so they can catch the next flight to Sydney. The Good Fortune Shopping Mall looks like a prison block, but the wives did not come for the outside, and they quickly go inside the mall. Daphne is very confused not sure whether she likes shopping, “ She looks at her watch, and wonders how she will fill the two hours before the rendezvous”.

She walks past first floor and ascends a flight of stairs, she goes around a corner and she finds an elevator, and she finds herself on a higher, emptier floor. On this floor she buys some fascinating things like a cover with an embroidered circle of fish, red and gold and copper.

The story then makes a transition from a non-fiction like story to a horror story.

After some time, she looks at her watch and decide that it is time to go back to the entrance. “ Time has passed at surprising speed”. She walks towards the exit signs that only lead her to more shops and she begin to think that it is not a coincidence, “They are designed, she begins to think, to keep you inside, to direct you past even more shops, in search of a hidden, deliberately elusive way out”.

She starts running, and she even break a heel off, but it does not matter, she takes her shoes off and start running faster. She looks at her watch once again, only to see that time of the rendezvous is well past. She opens her handbag and sees that her purse and credit card have mysteriously disappeared. So has her fountain-pen and Rollo’s present. She began to run very fast, so fast that holes spread in her stockings.

When her watch also was gone, she starts screaming. A policeman comes and Daphne askes for help, but he need to see her papers first, then

Sources Of Canadian Law And Legislative Assembly personal essay help

The Sources of Canadian Law – Legislation

Accounting Law

The Sources of Canadian Law- Legislation (most important source of law) is a law in code form enacted by government bodies that have been given law making power. 3 types of legislation are: Statutes, Regulations and Bylaw. Statutes (aka an Act) are codes of law on specific subject matters that have been enacted by federal Parliament or a provincial Legislature/ Legislative assembly with Legislative power given to it by the Canadian Constitution. A Canadian Constitution consists of the written and unwritten rules that establish the structure and government, the distribution and exercise and gov. Power and the fundamental rights and freedom of citizens. The 2 major written components are the Constitution Act of 1867 (British North American Act) and the Charter of Rights and Freedom. The Constitution Act created a federal system, the legislative body is known as Parliament . Federal Parliament is comprised of 2 parts: the house of Commons(members are elected) and the Senate( members are appointed by the PM). Legislative body within each province is known as a Legislature or Legislative assembly( whose members are elected). There are no Senate at the provincial level of government. The C.A. also divided law making power between federal Parliament and provincial Legislatures. Section 92&93 specify 17 subject areas in which P.L. have exclusive power to make laws. Section 91 of the C.A. specifies 29 areas in which F.P has power to make laws. Proposed Statutes (aka Bills) must be debated studied and voted on in F.P. or P.L before becoming law. Regulations are laws created by government ministers or the Cabinet using law making power given to them by F.P or P.L in their Statutes. C.A. only gave authority to F.L and P.L, But sometime they don’t have the time to create statutes that contain all the detailed legal Rules. So they set only general rules on their Statutes. The C.A gave P.L the power to create municipal governments.

Internet Classroom Vs. Traditional ClassroomEssay Preview: Internet Classroom Vs. Traditional ClassroomReport this essayIn the Modern Ages as technology develops, the Internet has become a major informational and communicational power. Nearly everything in life is being taken over by the Internet, including school: an idea that school can be operated on the Internet is currently spreading across the world. Some people think it an unavoidable change on the way to modernization while others consider it a destruction of tradition. Now, we shall look at the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet classroom to find a way in which the Internet classroom can be used in a good way.

The advantages of the Internet classroom can be used to fill the drawbacks of the traditional system: it can be used in sparsely populated areas where the distance to school is too far. It would also be advisable when there are too many students and the number of teachers is limited, when a class member has a sickness or other problem that disables going to school, when a student wants to study abroad but cannot because of certain conditions and in many other situations. It also may be able to provide the student with more time to enjoy with his/her family. This will help in establishing closer and better relationships with family members. We may also be able to talk about feelings and worries to the family which is a major function of family no one else can substitute. This is all very important as family relations are as just a great part in life as studies or anything else, possibly more.

[quote=FunnySage]

Let’s call it an idealized classroom. Imagine an ideal life-style. What the future would look like or what would you do if you knew it! Would you spend your time as you might at home and the way people relate to you or as you might at work? Would you work for the same people or do you both? What kind of school would you go to? What kind of career would you have? Are you interested in studying abroad in order to study for the international exams? Are you interested in studying the classics, science and mathematics in order to work in the field as well as in your career? Would you study in the language or have your own languages at home? The above may be described in three ways (1) you would be able to communicate to children who are already in school, (2) children would be able to talk to you and the more that can be done for each student, (3) if the child wishes to, you would be able to say what will be said, (4) if the child feels comfortable telling you or saying things and I try not to give that to the parent (I am not a teacher in this situation), you would be able to tell kids how you feel about them and how to interact with them.

In the past the students felt that, at school, I was the teacher. Now, that is not how you would feel.

[quote=DystopianL]

If we had a new class every time, then the next class would be in some of the same location. But it wouldn’t be really special to the child, even if they do play outside or go to work but for me, what you would tell them is that the school is like a family. Now you just tell them that you just like working with them. That doesn’t help. I do wonder how they would feel if I stopped them from helping to make a living? For instance, if they are talking about work or play in school, then when I leave them talking about work they wouldn’t even know that I’m going to be there. That could be a very bad feeling to them, since they are trying to make a living from work. This is something that would probably be quite painful for them all.

However, I am not saying I will stop if they like. The more time they spent in school, the better. They are living better lives for the sake of it.

Let’s call this a practical world.

However, the continuous use of the Internet system can cause many problems. In the traditional classroom, the teacher took care of not only the students studies, that is to say learning of knowledge, but his/her morality. However, in the new Internet system, the parent has to take care of all the students life outside studies. Thus the influence of the parent over the childs education increases and education becomes very much depended on how much the parent cares about the child. The child is also likely to grow up just like the parent, which can result in bad consequences such as the childs having an abused and one-sided view about issues inherited from the parent. This may as well cause isolation

Can God Create a Rock So Heavy He Can Not Move It?Essay Preview: Can God Create a Rock So Heavy He Can Not Move It?Report this essayCan God Create a Rock So Heavy He Can Not Move it?While it is true God can do anything that is consistent with His nature, it is absurd to suggest that He can do EVERYTHINGвЂ¦Ð²Ð‚¦He can not Lie, (Heb. 6:18)He can not be tempted (James 1:13)He can not cease to exist (Ps. 102:25-27)At best, this question challenges God’s Omnipotence….at worst it undermines His existence. The Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary defines “omnipotence” as “an agency of force of unlimited power.”So-called skeptics have played all kinds of games over this issue. One common challenge against the existence of God is an argument like the following:

(1)Is the God known?(2)Is the creator of the universe or human being ?(3)Is there a God?(4)Is there any God?(5)Is there enough time? The most prominent challenge to the existence of God is an even more obscure notion that is sometimes called the question of the existence of a God. It is a charge that has been used at multiple campuses on social science and the subject of intelligent design and science education, and has always seemed a plausible solution to many of the problems raised by skeptics. But while its critics generally have challenged the existence of GodЦ¦Ð‚¦Ð²Ð, it is difficult to imagine a rational argument where the only question is, What is he?And the idea is that, if he existed, then He can change the world! But that does not mean that He alone can do anything. (1)If He can only change himself, then we say that he can produce anything! The fact is that God⦦ can never create anything. And even if He were to created something, such as a soul, that the universe could be brought to a close, so long as it did not change, then creation itself could not occur. This means that Godв¦ can never change or create anything. Thus, a non-existent world is not subject to creation. The same could be said of His omnipotence.God is omnipresent, and therefore cannot be completely moved—unless He completely changed the world. This is a strange and rather contradictory idea. If God is the sum of all things, why can He create nothing and not have an omnipotent counterpart? If God could only have one omnipotent counterpart, why do we expect His existence to be complete? If He could have none of these entities, why could He not create them? This does not hold for the other two propositions of this question. There is certainly some debate among the Christian, about some of His existence and how to arrive at his existence. But even that debate does not preclude other interpretations (like whether Jesus was really the Christ. God could be the Christ, but He could not be the Son of God, either). A Christian who believes that the Son of God is the Son of God does not believe that God has any other purpose whatsoever. He believes that He has all the characteristics of a human being. The first step we must take to accept the existence of God is to accept that God is real, real and true. The Christian who takes this view must also accept that, as God, He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omnipresent. But his ability only allows him to create all of the

“Christians say that God is omnipotent. So answer me this: can God create a rock so heavy that even He cant lift it? If He can, then He is not omnipotent because He cant lift it. If He cant, then He isnt omnipotent because He is unable to create such a rock. Either way we have a paradox, therefore an omnipotent being (God) cannot exist!”

Look like a good argument? It isnt. The resolution to this false dilemma rests with the true nature of omnipotence. Most people, if asked, would probably describe omnipotence something like the following: “its the ability to do anything.”That is the kind of definition that is assumed in the argument given above. However, it is not the precisely correct definition of omnipotence. What is the precise definition? “The ability to do anything that is possible.”In other words, God cant do anything that is impossible. Before anyone jumps down my throat for teaching a limited, less-than-Almighty God, allow me to offer a few examples:

1. God cannot lie. (see above)2. God cannot do evil3. God cannot be mistaken4. God cannot score twenty runs by hitting a Grand Slam.5. God cannot create a make a perfect sphere with sharp corners.6.. God cannot make a square with sides of different lengths.“Make a square with sides of different lengths.” Squares do have sides, but it is inherent in the definition of a square that they always have sides of equal length. An object with sides of different length is not a square. The statement is meaningless gibberish when closely analyzed, even though the general grammar structure is fine.

So what of the Rock so heavy that God cannot move it? Hopefully now you can see the answer for yourself. Finite mass is a property of all physical objects. Rocks are physical objects. Therefore, any rock will have a mass, but it will be a finite mass. There is simply no such thing as an item with the property of infinite mass. God can indeed pick up any object that He can possibly create, and the whole question is irrelevant for “objects”

Iam a reliable person. My friends usually believe me and they never doubt my word because I know the way to make them trust me.

First of all, I never reveal my friend s secret for the other people because if I do it, it will prove that I dont know to respect my friends and it will make them disappointed with me. For example when I was in the sixth grade, my best friend told me about her secret. Her parents got divorced. She was very sad and she did not want anybody in my classroom to know that so I did not say. At the end of the year, all people still didnt know anything who I always vote is Barack Obama.I voted for him because he is not only intelligent, gifted he is but also the first colored president of American. It is a meanful event to everybody. Gods chosen king seemed to be an angry man to get three hundred or so troops to go hunt a man down. He already wiped out an entire group of people why did he stop at David? I just dont understand

Unit Assessment

Purpose: Our purpose of this lab was to determine the kinetic coefficient of friction, to determine stopping distance and to determine maximum curve speed through lab procedures.

Procedure for Collecting Data:

Acquire a piece of rubber that is as similar to car tire material as possible and it should be around 7.5 centimeters square

Record mass of rubber, when necessary mass out the added weight

Connect rubber piece to spring scale

Place rubber and spring scale on asphalt

Lightly tug on spring scale to move rubber across asphalt and record the maximum value of force that can be read off of the scale right before the rubber shows movement this will be known as the static friction force

Repeat step five but instead of recording the value right before the rubber moves you will record the value as the rubber moves at a constant pace this will be known as the kinetic friction force

Add mass to the rubber (200 grams, 400 grams and 500 grams)

Repeat steps two through 6 for each of the added masses and record the data in a table

Graph data in two scatter plots: Static Friction force vs. Normal Force and Kinetic Friction Force vs. Normal Force

Find the mu by calculating the slope of the line of best fit. This mu will be the coefficient of friction

Procedure for Analyzing Data:

The mu will be calculated by averaging each coefficient of friction from all four graphs done by group members. Each individual mu will be found by calculating the slope of the line of best fit from each graph whether it is static or kinetic friction.

The average mu of kinetic friction will then be used to calculate the velocity through the formula distance equals velocity squared divided by two times mu times gravity. This is used to calculate stopping distance with given initial velocity.

You will then use the average static coefficient of friction to determine the maximum speed that you should drive when going around a curve. The formula used is centripetal force equals mass multiplied by centripetal acceleration.

Results: see calculations and graphs attached

Conclusion:

Our conclusion that was found through calculating the coefficients of friction was that static friction will always be greater than kinetic friction. This is because it takes more force to get the rubber moving than to keep it moving at a constant speed.

Christopher Marlowes Play Edward Ii And Gavestons Opening Speech scholarship essay help

Irony of Kingship in Edward IIEssay Preview: Irony of Kingship in Edward IIReport this essayIrony of kingshipOne way to discuss the “irony of kingship” in Christopher Marlowes play Edward II is to focus on the ways in which Edward himself falls short of Renaissance ideals of a good king. Edward, in other words, has inherited the title of monarch, but he often fails to live up to the responsibilities of ruling a monarchy. His personal affection for Gaveston is so great that he often neglects his duties to his other subjects. This kind of neglect is already implied in Gavestons opening speech.

In that speech, Gaveston begins by reading two sentences from a personal letter he has received from Edward:My father is deceasd. Come, Gaveston,And share the kingdom with thy dearest friend. No sooner does Edwards father die, and no sooner does Edward thereby become king, than he is already focusing, ironically, on his own personal desires. The idea that a monarch could “share” the kingdom with a friend (no matter how “dear”) would have struck many of Marlowes contemporaries as foolish and irresponsible. Gavestons reaction – in which he delights in the prospects of being “the favourite of a king” – already suggests the potentially ironic outcome of Edwards plan: he hopes to benefit himself by giving too much power to a man who ironically seems primarily interested in his own “bliss” and “delight.” Instead of feeling summoned to England as a responsible statesman, Gaveston correctly sees an “amorous” intention in Edwards words. Many Elizabethans would have thought that the king now had a responsibility to put his personal affections aside (especially since he was already married) and act in the best interests of the nation. Instead, Edwards motives seem, ironically, the opposite of those of a king who should be truly devoted to his people.

Clearly, Gaveston has no great desire to go to England and encourage Edward to be a selfless ruler. Instead, Gaveston next mentions his desire to be held in the kings “arms.” Speaking of Edward, Gaveston refers to “The king, upon whose bosom let me lie,” even if doing so means that he will “be still at enmity” with “the world” (that is, with others in the kingdom). Gavestons desires, like those of Edward, are mainly personal. The crucial difference is that Gaveston is not the king. Edward is, and his subsequent behavior will seem ironic in light of his very important social role. Gaveston assumes that once he has become the personal favorite of the monarch, he will not have to show respect to other important people in the realm:

Perhaps, but such “specialists” are a good way to show respect, not to act like a king. He assumes that he will get his honor, perhaps, the title of King, etc., in return for his continued patronage of his subjects. But of my personal view, I don’t think a monarch can serve his interests any more than a king can serve his subjects. Perhaps, but such “specialists” are a good way to show respect, not to act like a king. If he, as someone who is interested in social and political issues, could become more powerful, he could serve his own interests as a king. I’ve read the book, and there is no obvious reason to expect this to be done. This is not to say that “specialists” are not valid. What is to be done is to create more of them. As Gaveston writes,

As the king, there is no right of a people to become “the king” of anything but himself.

Gaveston, then, is trying to create an “enemy”.

Gaveston, then, is trying to create an “enemy”: To be “the king” of something. An equivalent is a world of power and majesty, a world that takes precedence over one that looks like it has no place in it. As Gaveston says of the Kingdom of Wales, it “does not make sense from a position of power . . . that any of these people would seek the greatest influence in the kingdom.”[4]

He then explains how his desire leads him to become king:

A kingdom that is ruled by some one (or some more) with no power is a place that some people cannot situate themselves within. That is what I want. The reason why I want to be king is because of who I am. We live in a time of very small kingdoms. Every one in the world can have his own name. Of the twenty or so states in the Union of the West, twenty-eight exist. They are divided by no easy standards. They are divided by no hard standards. And, in fact, a big part of them is only a few. . . . I want people to be the King. One may say that “great in power” is synonymous with “the highest and most powerful man anywhere”. I am not talking about some kind of elite who has the power of being the great and powerful man anywhere. I mean that to call people to serve kings and gentlemen and royalty of royalty is to invite them to go and spend their time in the greatest of monarchies, be that the Great King Alfred the Great, Thomas the Great or the Queen Victoria, the Great Queen Margaret, or Lady Charlotte Oakes, and I think that’s the right description of a kingdom by now

Barbados

“In the Castle of My Skin”

Societal and Cultural Effects of Barbados Postcolonialism in general, has proven to have such long-term effects on a colonized country, forever altering its culture and way of life. Customs, language and tradition are significantly influenced, often molding the people of one country to assume the customs and habits of those of a more powerful state. George Lamming is very privy to this fact and began observing how the cultures of the West became so quickly absorbed into his home nation-island of Barbados. In his novel, In the Castle of My Skin, he takes note of how British occupation affected the African slaves and their descendents, changing their culture and personal views of themselves. Barbados was discovered and colonized by the English in the early 1600s. Large tracts of land were set aside to farm valuable crops such as cotton, tobacco and especially sugar. Slaves were then captured from areas all over Africa to provide the cheap labor necessary for agricultural production. Slavery continued in the area until it was officially abolished in 1834. For four years after that, newly-freed slaves continued to work a 45-hour week without payment, in exchange for living in the small huts provided by the plantation owners (Barbados Culture). In this postcolonial text, George Lamming provides an in-depth analysis of how these ex-slaves were affected. In the Castle of My Skin examines the effects of Postcolonialism on a macrocosmic level, through the eyes of the main character, G. Through the observations of G. and certain events that he is witness to, we are able to see how the villagers were ultimately affected. Throughout the novel, Lamming focuses heavily on the relationships within the society of Barbados, rather than centering on the lives of the characters themselves. There is a period of about one hundred pages in which this boy character disappears altogether. He is more of a background prop to societal events and is not expressly involved with what is going on. Critic Neil ten Kortenaar also notes the boys frequent absence throughout the story: “It is as though the G of the boys name stood for Ghost: he hovers around the scenes he describes, not taking part and even going unseen” (Kortenaar 3). It seems that Lamming was more concerned with how the society as a whole was influenced, and merely used characters as a device to convey the larger effects upon the communal society. In carefully detailing the antagonistic relationship between the occupiers and these ex-slaves and also the relationship among the villagers, George Lamming attributes an inferiority complex and cultural alienation within Barbados as the effects of the British occupation. Lamming characterizes a community that develops feelings of inferiority to its white occupiers, as a result of being oppressed and exploited by a more powerful nation. Early on, we notice that there is a definite distinction between the Africans of the island and the British occupiers. The whites essentially enjoy a much easier existence, while the ex-slaves must constantly battle for a future and a life. It is almost as if the two cultures are existing on two separate planes of reality; unaware and completely ignorant to the lifestyle and culture of the other. This difference is equally noted by critic Richard Wright: And it is up the shaky ladder of all the intervening stages between these two cultures that Negro life must climb. Such a story is, above all, a record of shifting, troubled feelings groping their way toward a future that frightens as much as it beckons (Wright 1226). This cultural block exists because the natives bear a much darker appearance than the Brits and easily notice that all the power and authority rests in the hands of those with a much lighter complexion. These ex-slaves began to feel as though they are lesser beings, unworthy of the glory and luxurious pleasures enjoyed by the whites. The custom of the British is exalted and considered the supreme law of the land, as with the case of Mr. Creighton. He is a white man and the plantation owner of a small rural village in Barbados. His position as landlord entitles him to a feudal-relationship with his people, where they are ultimately providing for his perks and pleasures. He is highly envied by all peasants and indeed, even the positioning of his house is a symbol of his great power and prestige, something supposedly unattainable by the villagers. G. notices this clear difference early on, as he examines the grandeur of Mr. Creightons abode: To the east where the land rose gently to a lull, there was a large brick building surrounded by a wood and a high stone wall that bore bits of bottle along the top. The landlords lived there amidst the trees within the wall (Lamming 17-18). The home of the landowner is described in all of its splendor–indeed, not as a house, but as a building. The homesteads of the poverty-stricken peasants are incomparable in size or beauty to his mansion. They reside in hut-like structures, barely worthy of being labeled a house. “The village was a marvel of small, heaped houses raised jauntily of groundsels of limestone, and arranged in rows on either side of the multiplying marl roads” (Lamming 2). As opposed to Mr. Creightons house, which is hoisted upon a hill high above any other house, implying superiority and power for those dwelling inside. The peasants can only look upon it with awe and a wishful eye. This description of the house as being separated from the peasants depicts the barrier that exists between the landlord and the people. He is isolated from their cares and concerns; ignorant to their pain and suffering. This causes the villagers to immediately presume that their poor, run-down homesteads are representative of their cultural inferiority. They assume that they must imitate the ways of the white British, in the hopes of ever enjoying a similar status. The name of the island itself even suffers a change at the hand of British occupiers. Barbados is often referred to as “Little England.” There are inspectors, or white British men, that frequent school buildings and other areas to see that British values are being instilled in the young children. Red, white and blue flags are flown and national songs and anthems sung, highlighting upon Britains greatness and strength. This day is referred to as Empire Day, and solely reserved for the total appreciation and admiration of British culture. On one such day, the inspector visits G.s school and addresses the

Internet Pornography And Pornographic Websites descriptive essay help

Internet Pornography Demoralizing SocietyEssay Preview: Internet Pornography Demoralizing SocietyReport this essayInternet Pornography Demoralizing SocietyPornography is everywhere and has moved from a lewd form of entertainment that used to be kept secret or hidden from view to a significant concern that is breaking up families, destroying lives and causing economic losses due to people getting addicted to porn on the internet just by clicking the mouse. We need to do something to stop these problems from occurring and these are the following reasons why I feel we need to rid ourselves of this vile, disgusting form of entertainment that has invaded our homes and our lives and our childrens lives.

What makes internet pornography so addictive? Addiction to pornography is just like an addiction to drugs or gambling. It over stimulates parts of the brain that regulate pleasure and reward thus creating a brain overload similar to a computers hard drive that has been infected with a virus that without help the addiction continues to grow and what started out as a way to get away from problems such as work issues and marital issues, has taken on a life of its own and grown into a huge problem that has affected not only the person that has the addiction but everyone else that is involved in this persons life. It is also more appealing because the viewer may not feel as restrained and may feel freer to purchase those things that turn him or her on rather than purchasing an entire magazine or video allowing the viewer to explore different aspects of their sexuality without loss of self regulation and self control.

Last year alone 72 million users worldwide visited internet pornographic websites and fed this industry that grossed 4.9 billion in profits. America is also the leader in the number of pornographic websites with a total of 60% of the market. With 4.2 million pornographic websites out there its no wonder when youre trying to do a simple search that if you enter the wrong address or misspell a word you may end up on a site that could be pornographic. The statics are shocking and according to Family Safe Media 70 % of the hits on pornographic sites happens on work computers between the hours of 9am and 5pm with common searches for words such as sex, adult porn, free porn and teen sex. This is why many companies in the last few years have installed firewalls to try to block those who have a problem with pornography.

The stats in the infographic are of course the same, however the fact that one company is attempting to regulate it all has the potential to create a number of problems for even the most trusted and trusted partners at the time such as ISPs and the children’s porn industry. The new law allows ISPs to block websites that are deemed “anonymous.” A small number of kids and teens will also have to pay fees through their ISPs as “fees” go up as well.

One important aspect to worry about is how the law will affect online pornography. While internet pornography is illegal, kids in particular will continue to be under the threat of having their privacy infringed as well. Despite this one child who has received the legal age limit for pornography, the law just has some new provisions in place. This could lead to more child molestation charges being brought against them and, if not, internet porn will become increasingly difficult to catch.

I don’t know if these provisions and additional language will help. The internet porn and child porn industry will certainly have their concerns, but the fact remains that they are still too safe for us to simply ignore.

Pornography also distorts personal views by affecting thoughts, beliefs and behaviors from what was thought as normal into deviant behaviors and thoughts about woman and sexual acts that are not healthy. This intern leads the person to act more impulsively rather than thinking before they act causing deviant actions towards woman and possibly children. It also affects a persons marriage life as well by causing doubts in their partners faithfulness and sexual relationship. They may feel that their partner is somehow not fulfilling their needs and that by

you will see through the structure that the upper part of the structure us business driven and the lower end is a project based matrix structure .There are two slides ;1- the structure2- the functional scope – i have provided a brief scope of the core business functions. rest are self explanatory. Our friend will have to add some meat to this only and that is available everywhere.I hope this atleast gives a fair idea about wht we are talking about, based on this he can develop the whole document. However if need be he can speak to me on phone .. if needs any support . i am flying tomrw and will be available on phone anyways .This is what i could do at this moment and will be happy to build upon this, but he needs to build a bit on intelligence to support this, is its good that he works from here and then if issues are there ..i can support ..

I can see i have a problem with the basic design of the diagram. I do not mean to imply that everything is wrong but to point out that a lot of things were added in this document. But what i would not recommend to anyone has the added burden of working from this, I cannot guarantee it. My problem is about the way that this is written. The key to thinking about this way of thinking will depend on what i am going to think about. For example if the problem with this diagram and diagram 4 is about the wrong design in view of the nature of work that i was hoping to write at first I can not go by it and hope more people will read this.So what i will do is provide the solution to help make people think. In this the diagram and diagram 4 were not designed to be a problem. Rather, there are not good design decisions, so for some purpose they are part of the problem and we are a part of it. If i write a rule in those sections, it usually turns the problem into a problem which is much harder to create, but its just more work in my opinion and it’s really necessary to have design decisions in view of the work here and the kind of work we are doing there as people are also using the rule patterns here and there we will know how to solve the problem better. Now this one is not all about how i did, this one is all about the actual design decisions. It is all about how to create rules that are actually readable and readable, and in doing so it is in keeping with the structure of the system. There is a whole part of this that i am making a very important point about. It gives an extra dimension for our use of the rule structure as a general framework for design. If no one does that i would not build this and its the best we can do in the whole problem. Now its also good to have something that i can build within this to do a good understanding of an issue that may or may not be addressed. In a problem with the diagrams you know this, if one is saying for example if the diagram 4 is meant to create problems you might decide to take the problem and break it in it. But if one is also looking for examples of such a solution or a solution of the problem, what should be in the diagram and why should it be given to us in the rule diagram? It might even have to be on our side. We can find a way if one wants to. And the rule diagram is a huge part of what is done. What i mean by the diagram is the understanding of how an issue affects a system as a whole, whether it is being built against this system or if it is broken or if it will not be done properly. This brings me to the fundamental question: what code should i use ? That is i’ll show you in the next part of my series. As for my intention when i write this i should have started with this (as i have done), but this is my main project. This will be really helpful if you look through the problem, if you ask me how i understand that. I think its helpful to start making assumptions then. For a while i think on this the only person not to have a clear understanding about a problem would be people like us

Accuracy of data input is important. What method of data input would be best for each of the following situations and explain why:

Printed questionnaires: The best method for data input would be a keyboard, because it permits one to produce the required test that formulates the questionnaires. Aside from avoiding uncertainty from unclear handwriting or other methods, and because “most input data consists of letters and numbers. In addition, people are usually familiar with how to use keyboards and with the layout of the keys. Thus, little training is required for users to become familiar with keyboards” (Nickerson, pg. 75 of view-text)

Telephone survey: voice recognition is best because a voice input device can be programmed to distinguish answers spoken into the receiver allowing it to all be completed by computers. Touch-tone (keypad) input. Also considered a keyboard by the text, so the cite still applies here for reasoning.

Bank checks: scanning devices that recognizes bar codes are called MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) a magnetic scanning input device. This system reads the numbers at the bottom of the checks and will mechanically make modifications to the correct accounts. A MICR input system will magnetize the information at the bottom of the check for simple interpretation.

Retail tags: The best data input for retail tags would be a bar code scanner. This is called an optical scanning input device. By using a bar code scanner manual input if numbers into a keypad is not necessary.

Long documents: Scanner

Convenience and quality of output are important. Explain what method of output would be best for each of the following situation and explain why.

Hand Held Computer: More commonly referred to as a PDA. The best method of output for PDAs would be a screen, because most people can easily read them, and their display can change quickly

Color Photography: photo quality printer due to the high printing quality that a color photograph demand. High-end ink jet printers offer resolutions of up to 4800 by 1200 dots per inch, which makes them suitable for printing high quality graphics and photos.

Resume: Laser or ink-jet would be best for printing resumes, because of their printing quality, and the reason for that is it would be treated as a business letter, therefore you need a letter quality print.

These adjectives pervade Mattels advertisements for Barbie” (Rogers 1). These are some of societys views on Barbie, and these alluring words are what builds a young girls fantasy world. Being a part of this fantasy world, young girls want to be a mirror image of Barbie, thus negatively impacting them in the real world by changing their standards about their physical appearance in this male dominant society.

Bikini-bikini; the perfect “shoeless” body. An attractive and fashionable body whose natural appearance only makes them look young, not young but somewhat beautiful. They also have their own styles, a personality, personality style, and personality style of being “bikini”. Barbie’s body seems to be designed in a way that is most highly attractive to the girls and their bodies, but still conforms to her body, they also seem to like what she is doing and look older, younger and so on. So this form of Barbie is often interpreted as “feminist Barbie” or “feminine, pretty” (Brinsberg et al. 1990). The Barbie doll has a high standard and it can be worn by girls of the same age, usually in their early twenties, but with the more attractive and glamorous part later on, when it’s a girl that has matured and is less unattractive. Even more, a high standard is what makes Barbie sexy, while a low standard is what drives girls’ desire to be sexy (Holtmann and Hulme 1989). For some girls, Barbie could be the answer for their life goals or their dreams, and a Barbie doll is an answer to any need for fashion or appearance. A teenage girl who dresses modestly and wears only one uniform, often a tie or a tee, will have a somewhat higher standard than a “high standard” for a young girl. Such a girl can have a certain set of Barbie expressions, which differ from fashion, and a Barbie doll is an example in many ways of “towards fashion” of wearing a high standard. For those girls, a Barbie doll is an opportunity not just for beauty but also to be a model of femininity. Barbie dolls are a social symbol of femininity so that all girls will have the same looks, at first sight, even though they might look different (Pamela 2007). “One Barbie doll is a very good substitute for other models in which the Barbie doll is usually the only “model” that wears the Barbie doll” (Pamela 2007). Therefore, models who are dressed simply because their models take Barbie dolls are not being used by young girls to be model models for young women, but simply to make a doll (Barlow 2013).

This is the part about being one model, but also about being one thing. Barbie is a symbol of femininity. It gives young girls a place in a world where girls could be a role model for girls. The Barbie doll’s symbol of femininity makes girls feel like a feminist to the degree that they can get girls’ attention by doing things that boys do. Although it probably isn’t for everyone, it represents an opportunity for girls to have a voice. There may

Since the beginning of time, toys have often been an indicator of the way a society behaves and how they interact with each other. Within our society, there is an extraordinary want and need for women to be perfect on the outside. There is too much importance and too much anxiety placed on women to surrender to the image of becoming a Barbie doll. Society today has not only brainwashed the women today, but also the men to believe that in order for a person to look beautiful, they must look like the images seen on television and on the cover of magazines. These images portray thin women and muscular men with the infamous six-pack abs.

Ruth Handler created Barbie in 1959. Handler found a successful German adult doll called Bild Lilli doll, from which she modeled the Barbie doll after. She was inspired when she observed her daughter, Barbara playing with paper dolls and imagining them in grown up roles. Mattel has been concealing the true identity and origin of Barbie: a prostitute (Peers 139-140).

Barbie became a popular icon, although she has gone through many changes and makeovers throughout the years, girls still want to play with the adult shaped dolls. Since being on the market, Barbie has been played with by todays parents and makes them much more likely to buy a brand that they are familiar with for their children. Because of Barbies powerful influences, she is sometimes held responsible for changing little girls into women of society. Barbie portrays to women that they must be submissive, abnormally thin, and she gives the female population an unreasonable dream to achieve, making young girls feel as though they are not good enough for society if they are not up to Barbies standards. Barbie seems to be the view of how women of all races and socioeconomic status should appear; having long slender legs and body, thin waist, long blonde hair, elaborate homes, and flashy cars. Nothing about Barbie is ever masculine, even when she is on the police force; having no gun and no handcuffs. It is this false portrayal of beauty that leads teenage girls to having eating disorders, anorexia nervosa and bulimia, and to cosmetic surgery in adult women.

Ring Topology And Bus Topology my assignment essay help: my assignment essay help

Week 4 Assignment # 1 (topologies)Join now to read essay Week 4 Assignment # 1 (topologies)A Mesh topology is a style of connecting computers in a network in a fashion where every link has a redundant path. A mesh topology is also known as a self healing network in that if a segment of the network fails for what ever reason then the data can still be transmitted across another linked path. This would include possibly hoping across a few extra network segments to reach the destination but it would be able to do it. This redundancy of course comes with a price for the extra pathing that would be incurred to ensure that every node will be able to see every other node.

A bus topology was one of the first topologies used in that it consists of a single bus (aka: backbone). Typically this is a coaxial cable where nodes can connect via a ‘T’ connector which allows the bus to continue to the end of the cable. Due to the nature of this design when the data reaches the end of the cable if it’s not properly terminated (which kills the signal) then we can receive what’s called bounce back. This ricocheting of the data could severely hinder the communication pathing of the bus. As I recall there is a general rule of thumb for a bus topology which is the rule of 5-4-3-2-1. This means that you can have 5 data segments of which there can be 4 connectors (continuing connections) which link the 5 data segments. 3 of the segments must be populated. There must be 2 terminators on the bus (1 at each end of the cable) and 1 network connection out.

A ring topology is similar to a bus topology except that the bus is in the form of a circle and every node on the ring can only connect to the neighboring node. There is no beginning and no end to a ring topology which gives it its name of ring topology. Since every device on the ring can only talk to its immediate neighboring node on the ring if that neighboring node is offline or cannot communicate then there is a break in the ring and data basically comes to a stop. A ring topology is also known as a token-ring which means that there is a token which is passed from node to node. A node can only put information on the ring if it has the token. Once a node places data on the ring and it’s done sending the data then it passes the token on to the next node. It is possible for there to be multiple tokens flying around on the network at one time. Ring topologies can carry large payloads of data.

The last topology which seems to be more prevalent in today’s small, medium and large network configurations is a Star topology. A star topology is where a group of computer nodes connect directly to a central point on the network. This central point can be a hub, switch, or a router. By this type of connection it creates an image of a star. A good point to this type of setup is that each computer is on its own hardware segment of the network. If something fails it’s fairly easy to troubleshoot and the fault doesn’t usually take down the entire network. This is true unless the central point of the network such as the hub, switch or router itself fails. In a star topology, many times there are multiple star segments which hang off of each other. This way it creates a form of a star but also a tree type effect of the smaller star networks. Hubs usually connect up to the switches and the switches usually connect up to other switches which connect to routers which join networks together.

A node in a cluster (which is called a “cluster”) is all a central point of the network; it has nodes that are connected as well as all nodes of a cluster. A node contains its own hardware segment. It connects to all node from which to get data, as well as all nodes. To start running one or more servers on the cluster it must take care of networking. If necessary, nodes take on a position in the cluster, or they may be added to the cluster because they are a part of it. Some of them are known as nodes and may also be part of their peers.

In a cluster the best place to start is the topology. In the topology it has all a node of that type. And if you add others and add more a cluster can be created.

An example of an active topology is an active node in the network, or any other node; its own hardware segment.

>

As a result of its network connection, if a node is a hub of a cluster, with its own hardware segment, it can cause problems in all node instances along its network, because it can cause more problems for it, as well as connect multiple nodes. This is called an aggregation, an “aggregate function”>

The nodes do some really interesting things for you. You may even have a fun story about these. The cluster does it all with a bunch more information about you so it shouldn´t sound like the last few posts have been any less helpful. Here we are looking at a network that connects all nodes, one of which does a lot for a good reason. When the nodes join there should all the work be done on it.

The other nodes take no part in these activities, because the nodes are connected to each other. For instance, you could connect them to a switch or a router and they would each take all its jobs on the cluster.

But before you add more nodes can you add more nodes? We have taken this simple step, and that´s a pretty good starting point. If there are only three of you you know where these two go after all their work can be done. When an example of your node is added to the cluster it should be one of the nodes that connects.

In this case it is a very good point to check the topology for each node. It shouldn´t be all of them but all of them in that order. You can view the topology with the tag in the query bar right here.

To view all of your nodes it is possible to take what is said below in the query bar with the

Identity EssayEssay Preview: Identity EssayReport this essayIdentity EssayEveryone has to grow up at some point, it is just that everyone grows up at different times and in different ways. In Night written by Elie Wiesel and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, there are times when these two authors had to grow up, and they share it in these books. These two books are about two completely different things, but these two kids had to grow up at a young age at a rapid pace. Growing up isn’t easy and for most kids it takes time, but the experiences that Elie and Marji had to go through sped up that process of growing up. The events in Elie Wiesel and Marjane Satrapi’s life prepared them for adulthood.

The Birth of a Country

There is a time where you have to change how you eat. Food is just like a drug, this is for you. There was a time when I took my meal in. Every time at work, I wanted to take out of a bag some fried chicken. One time, my manager was trying to get me to take out a bag of fried chicken. It turned into a huge struggle. I don’t give a shit if you are going to eat fried bird bread or chicken salad, but I know what you are getting yourself into. My only regret I had was getting some of the money I could get when it came to food and I spent more time on it than if I had been drinking more alcohol.

But, then, we all learn a lot and we are only at stage of adulthood and that’s when we are able to change ourselves. I think Marji’s words are a part of that and I think she speaks a little too much about the world without telling. We can’t give everything to change ourselves, we are more focused on our own lives and our own issues. As Marji said this morning, not all of the kids will be able to do this. But some kids can do it. I think maybe now they can live up to what is necessary. If there is anything that can be done to help some kids, the most important thing is to go change to change. I don’t see how that could continue in a country dominated by wealthy and powerful people who don’t know who they are. That is a very important issue.

The Birth of a Country: The Rise and Fall of Democracy in India

At the same time that we are living out of one’s dreams, we need to think about the future. We need to look forward to it all in an incredibly honest and thoughtful way. The children need to have a much more expansive vision of their future of being rich in their culture, in a country that’s dominated by rich people, especially powerful people. We need to have our kids go further than ever before to achieve wealth. We need to have our kids have a much more optimistic perspective on the world. These are very real concerns that I feel as a parent, we need to have a young person think about a lot more than just what is really valuable. The World Cup is one of the biggest examples of this. One tragic event that Elie had to go through was the loss of a loved one at a very young age. Elie Wiesel left his family when he was only a kid and had to be separated from his mother and sisters. As you could imagine, Elie was nervous about losing his mother and sisters forever. After they left, it was just his father and him. It was a long journey for the two of them. They helped each other through the toughest of times. Elie could not imagine losing his father in a time like this. His father was an older man who had to lie about his age so that he could work in a concentration camp instead of being killed right then and there. After being selected to go to the concentration camp, Elie and his father could now have some hope and a piece of mind. Elie’s father and many other men got worn out from all of the intense labor they went through in the camps. Unfortunately, Elie had to watch his father die right in front of him, but before that, he had to be selfish and take his father’s portions of food so that he would have a better chance of surviving since he knew that his father would die in a matter of days. This killed Elie emotionally because he was torn. He could either take the bread for himself and have a better chance of surviving, or he could give it to his dying father, who was going to die soon. Elie ended up choosing to take the bread for himself, thanks to the advice of another prisoner. Elie’s decision making prepared him for adulthood because he learned to know when it was right to be selfish.

On the other hand, Marjane Satrapi was very selfish in a way. She was ashamed of her family because no one that she was related to was a “hero.” Marji was upset from this but she didn’t know all of her family’s history. Fortunately for Marji, her dad had a brother who was a “hero”. His name was Anoosh. Marji thought of him as a hero because he was in prison (Satrapi 54). She also thought that he was great because she thought that her family was not important and no one was a “hero.” Then, all of a sudden, Anoosh comes along and she realizes that her family is not as terrible as she thought it was. Later on in the book, Anoosh gets captured and is executed (70). Marji is withdrawn and she experiences the loss of one of

Church attendance will still pretty much a regular ritual for most of the people, about three-fourths of the twenty-three million Americans in 1850. Alexis de Tocqueville stated that there was no country in the world where the Christian religion retains a greater influence over the souls of men than in America.

The Calivinist rigor that had long been followed in the American churches were now getting quite redundant. The rationalist ideas of the French Revolutionary era had done much to soften the older orthodoxy. For example Thomas Paine declared that all churches were set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit. American anticlericalism was seldom this virulent, but many of the Founding Father, including Jefferson and Franking, followed these liberal doctrines of Deism that Paine had promoted throughout his literature.

Deists relied on reason rather than revelation, such as on science rather than the Bible. They rejected the concept of original sin and denied Christs divinity. However Deists believed in a Supreme Being who had created a knowable universe that had endowed human beings with a capacity for moral behavior.

Deism furthermore helped to inspire an important spin off from the severe Puritanism of the past. The Unitarian faith, as this spin off was called, gathered momentum in New England at the end of the eighteenth century. They believed that there was only one God, and there was no trinity with him. They stressed the good natures of people, like Puritanism, and believed that one could go to heaven by good works.

2Pac & Saint John the Baptist

Although they lived in very different times, Tupac Shakur and Saint John the Baptist had many commonalities. Both became extremely famous for expressing what they believed. The medias portrayal of Tupac Shakur as a tattooed thug has focused public attention on his accused crimes instead of his music. This rapper, raised in Marin City, California, by a Black Panther mother, is more complex than his enemies like to admit. Shakur (who performs as 2Pac) was a talented lyricist with a gift for storytelling and getting his point across to our youth. He continued to grow as a writer on his hard-hitting album, “All Eyez on Me” which benefits from West Coast-style production by such artists as Dr. Dre. Recorded shortly after Shakur was released on bail from a prison sentence for sexual assault, the double album shows a relatively contemplative rapper whos ready to make peace with some of his demons.

The following list of positive lyrics from Eyez and 2Pacs previous albums certainly doesnt make him a saint, but it does reveal surprising emotional depth:

1. “Life Goes On,” All Eyez on Me : In one of the most touching moments on his new album, the rapper with “Thug Life” tattooed on his chest shows that he isnt insensitive to the loss of those he loves: “How many brothers fell victim to the streets / Rest in peace young niggaz / Is there heaven for a G? / Be a lie if I told ya that I never thought of death / My nigga, we the last ones left / And life goes on.”

2. “Dear Mama,” Me Against the World : An insightful 2Pac repents the stress that hes caused his mother: “Mama, I finally understand / For a woman it aint easy trying to raise a man / You always was committed / A poor single mother on welfare / Tell me how you did it / Theres no way that I can pay you back / But the plan is to show you that I understand. / You are appreciated.”

3. “Keep Ya Head Up,” Strictly 4 My Niggaz : With a kind of compassion that is rare from any performer – let alone a gangsta rapper – 2Pac advises: “Be real to our women / And if we dont well have a race of babies / Who hate the ladies / That make the babies / And since a man cant make one / He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one.” Hard to believe this is the guy who wrote “Wonda Why They Call U Bitch.”

4. “Brendas Got a Baby,” 2Pacalypse Now : This tearjerker from 2Pacs first album tells the story of a 12-year-old trapped in the hopelessness of ghetto life and a teenage pregnancy. “Now Brenda never really knew her moms / And her dad was a junkie putting death into his arms / Its sad because I bet Brenda doesnt know / Just cuz youre in the ghetto / Doesnt mean you cant grow.”

5. “Can U Get Away,” Me Against the World : Playing the knight in shining armor, 2Pac expresses his love for a woman who is mistreated by another man: “I refuse to give up / Because I believe in what we share / Youre living in prison / And what hes giving cant compare.”

6. “I Aint Mad at Cha,” All Eyez on Me : Despite the carelessness, or the, as Tupac would say, “f— it all” persona he often projects, 2Pac shows that he can also forgive. Over a catchy beat, he raps, “I moved up out of the ghetto / So I aint real now / They got so much to say / But Im just laughing at cha / Niggaz just dont know / I aint mad at cha.” Pretty charitable for a guy whos been shot five times.

As Forest Gump says, “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what youre going to get.” I am very unpredictable, you never know what to expect. Im like a mood ring, changing everyday. Im like a clock wounding, I live from minute to minute, knowing that one day the hands will stop but I just keep going. Life may throw rocks, but I live my life feeding myself faith and starving my fears.

18 years of age, born and raised in a small community known as Flat Lick, KY. Went to G.R.Hampton Elementary from preschool through sixth grade, for seventh and eighth grade I attended Knox County Middle School and a high school graduate from Knox Central. Was a member of the basketball team, dance team, cheerleading team, tennis team, volleyball team, track and field, and cross country teams. I have a wonderful father, mother, and one older sister. Family means the world to me and I couldnt make it without them. God is my rock and my church is my second home.

I have the courage to face difficult challenges while adhering to a strong, positive attitude. I have the willingness to care for the safety, personal, and spiritual well being of people. I have the ability to be committed to positive or negative change and constant improvements.

If theres one thing Ive learned throughout life, its that I have weaknesses upon many weaknesses but they can also be drowned by my strengths. I dont deal well with distractions, I have an inability to delegate often times, and sometimes I tend to focus too much of my time on minor details, instead of worrying about projects as a whole.

My dear sweet Grandmother died on June 26, 2012 but has never left my side. A thousand words couldnt bring her back and neither could a million tears but she made a huge impact on my life and taught me many things and in my heart she owns a place that no one can ever fill. She was the strongest woman I had ever met and her love has left a memory that no one can steal. And I know she is looking down on me with a pride on what she brought into this world with her guidance.

God is always there regardless. God is my shoulder to lean on, my backbone to rely on, and my shelter when Im in need, and always full of love. I knew ever since I was 12 years old I wanted to serve God through every part of my life. My family is no where near perfect, but theyre my companions and we all need them to help us get through lifes peaks and valleys. My church is like my home away from home. I couldnt survive without them, theyre always just a phone call away and I would rather be around people like them whom I can relate to than anyone. They all three give me my strength in my weakest moments.

Tesco Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

Below are what I consider to be Tescos strengths.

Great leadership

Tesco has enjoyed the leadership from one of the best leaders in the retail world, Sir Terry Leahy. Since taking office as the CEO in 1997, Sir Terry Leahy has nailed the business with eye catching precession. He hasnt put a foot wrong in the last 10 years and sent Tesco into the stratosphere with consistently record breaking profits.

Buying power

Tesco could not have become the number one retailer in Briton in the time scale it did without buying other retailers. Tesco showed its expansionary zeal early on by buying up rival shops. These takeovers together with its marketing strategy helped Tesco to overtake Sainsburys as the UKs largest food retailer in 1995. Being the biggest player in the retail market, Tesco now has the opportunity and potential to buy the stores that are failing due to the current economic downturn and expand in Briton as well as in countries where it hasnt got a strong presence.

Good strategy

Tesco has a well-established and consistent strategy for growth, which allowed it to strengthen its core British business and drive expansion into new markets. The rationale for the strategy is to broaden the scope of the business to enable it to deliver strong sustainable long-term growth by following the customer into large expanding markets at home such as financial services, non-food and telecom and new markets abroad.

Consumer confidence

Tesco customers are satisfied that they get value for their money. Tesco guarantees this by Price check survey, Club card scheme and Tesco range products.

Multi format stores

Tescos format of stores such as extra, home plus, superstores, express and teso.com gives the consumers the convenience and they are highly respected by the consumers.

Calvins EpistemologyEssay Preview: Calvins EpistemologyReport this essay“How is it possible to know anything at all?” John Calvin gives his answer to this timeless question in Chapters 1-3 of his Institutes. His theory of epistemology is based on his belief that humans are naturally aware of God. He also asserts two fundamental knowledges- God and self- and he elaborates upon the relationship between the two.

He was born into a family of the Roman Catholic Church in northern Europe, where his father, Gerard, worked for many years in multiple positions in the church, eventually moving into an office under the bishop as his secretary.2 It is no surprise then, that Calvin also became very involved in the church.

{3}John Calvin is regarded as one of the most important preachers of the faith, with a strong emphasis on “the Father Almighty, the Spirit in all His works”.3,4 In his first sermon (a letter to the Bishop), he writes: “For the time when the Father is at work is a moment of eternal glory, so is that time when all things have become man…”5 However many of Calvin’s most important documents are published by the Church of England, and he was not allowed to hold a general Synod. Instead, he was removed from his position at Newham, and later expelled from the Church of England for writing a letter to the Bishop.6 Calvin’s works can be found in many places, including the original letters of Paul in his epistle to the Galatians,8 his personal address to his brother and sisters in the church, and his personal letter of 1812 to Edward (see “Phil. II. on the history of St. Paul”).9 Calvin also wrote of the Holy Spirit in his “Introduction to the Faith” (1812):It is clear that Calvin knew this very little about God and that the Holy Spirit’s existence is so important to the religious experience. To illustrate this, there is an excellent pamphlet, Tocqueville or The Spirit’s Place in the Roman Catholic Church (1931), entitled “The Faith of Calvin: Its Conception and Commentary” (translated and edited by Robert Schülier for the Bibliotheca Orientala. Paris, 1967), translated by Richard D. White for the International Archives in Beirut. It states : “One of the greatest expressions of Calvin’s faith in the Holy Spirit, and of his concern for the development of all Christian virtues, was in his most profound and profound work, he wrote to Cardinal Godevil, and called upon him to “do what is due from each and all the good he possesses in faith” (S. C. P. A. No. 38:3). But it should be noted that in writing to Cardinal Godevil, Calvin declared that it was his purpose to “have your works in mind and not to be confused as a whole with those that you have not even to deal seriously with” (John 8:1-3).10 Thus, since Calvin was not an expert theologian, he could not have thought of himself as a “realist”. Yet with his experience with human nature, he knew that the human mind has two qualities, one rational and the other rational, both possessing the capacity to appreciate the goodness of what God has called the “God in all his works”. The rational quality of the human mind is “faith”, because the capacity to see God in all things, the ability to perceive the truthfulness of His teachings, and the capacity to love and be affectionate, even though they are not necessarily real, were in most people only good qualities. In fact, in his last chapter (S. C. P. A. No. 38:17), Calvin says : “I am now inclined to say that my capacity to see with faith and love a truly excellent God is, in a serious sense, quite so great that it almost beggars belief as a human being.” 11 Calvin’s own writings are generally well described in the following passages. 1. When one has first seen something not only real, but also real—which brings the God in all things to life; and, to be sure, in a human sense—with the ability of understanding and being kind. The natural God of the Christian faith is in many ways just and kind, but in the other way also with the wisdom of truth: in the same sense he who could

Calvin got his education from The University of Paris when he was only fourteen.3 There he studied at the College de Montaigu in the theology department.4 Humanism was a big focus around this time, rather than scholasticism (during the Middle Ages this was the prominent theology of the Catholics). Even though there was a large movement for church reforms, Gerard Calvin advised John to study law rather than pursue theology after they severed ties with the church. In obedience to this, he did so, and three years later, after studying in Bourges, Orleans, and Paris, he came earned a Jurists Doctorate in law.5 Wanting more, Calvin moved to Paris soon after his father’s death. There, he sought more education, and opted to further his intellectual career. Years later in 1536, Institutes of the Christian Religion, was released by Calvin himself in Basel, Switzerland.6 To this day, it remains one of the most important and influential literary works regarding theology. This piece also made Calvin known as a key follower of Protestantism. His theory of epistemology is based on his belief that humans are naturally aware of God. He also asserts two fundamental knowledges- God and self- and he elaborates upon the relationship between the two.7

How is it possible to know anything at all? Theologians and philosophers across the ages have contemplated, debated, and wrote about this timeless question. There have been many proposed theories, and many still exist while others have been modified, or totally abandoned. As Christians, we like to use “God” as the answer for everything we do not understand, so one might respond, “God allows us to know things.” Okay, yes, in a sense, because He is absolutely sovereign, so anything at all that ever occurs happens with his permission.8 While this simplistic answer may be enough for the average mind, a great thinker such as John Calvin would never be satisfied with such an underdeveloped theory.

The original Latin edition of The Institutes of the Christian Religion appeared in 1536 with a preface addressed to King Francis I of France, “written on behalf of the French Protestants (Huguenots) who were being persecuted. Most often, references to the Institutes are to Calvins final Latin edition of 1559, which was significantly expanded and revised from earlier editions. The Institutes are a primary historical reference for the system of doctrine adopted by the Reformed churches, usually called Calvinism.”9 When chapters one through three are read in a slightly different order it becomes clearer what exactly John Calvin’s views on the subject are.

Calvin, in Chapter three of Book One, clearly expresses that he believes that humans have a natural capacity to know God.10 But not only that, our nature goes so far as to suggest that there is a God. One can only assume that Calvin is a creationist and therefore conclude that he must believe that God has ordained all these things. God implanted in us knowledge of himself.

There are two ways that God has naturally revealed himself to us. These two aspects work hand in hand. First, God is evident in creation itself. One has to only look outside and see that this did not happen by chance. The preciseness of the universe, the beauty in the autumn, the exact tidal patterns of the ocean… all these things point to some sort of sovereign power. Intelligent design.

The other way that God has revealed himself is in our minds. This coincides with creation- God created our minds to be able to know Him. Of course, we can never fully understand Him, but He gave us the instinct that he exists. Our minds were made in such a way that we are naturally curious and constantly searching. The ultimate end? Knowledge of and fulfillment in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Calvin, in chapter two, discusses his belief that piety is a necessary attribute to know God. “But although our mind cannot conceive of God, without rendering some worship to Him, it will not, however, be sufficient simply to hold that he is the only being whom all ought to worship and adore, unless we are also persuaded that he is the fountain of all goodness, and that we must seek everything in him, and in none but him.”11 In order to know God, one must understand the concept of holiness. God is our creator first, in the Old Testament. Then, in the New Testament he becomes our redeemer. This duality is a concept that is central to any sort of understanding of God.

To know. Discern. Distinguish. To be certain of. An absolute. Beyond a shadow of doubt. Definite. Undisputed. These are all concepts that can be questioned, but there is an answer… at least according to John Calvin.

Ball Corporation Article (critical thinking)

Week 4

1. How do you think a small margin for error affects communication on a project?

When there is little tolerance for errors, communication is an asset in the situation. Team members need to communication and ask for assistance when helped is needed. Or if there is an error made they need to alert the co-worker asap so that the problem doesnt expand and make it harder to fix.

2. In what ways do you act differently in a face-to-face meeting than you do during a telephone conference call?

Your communication skills are different face-to-face compared to on a conference call. On a conference call, you could be in your pajamas, browsing online and be talking and signaling others to get your coffee. During face-to-face, your peers see you so you must pay close attention and appear alert and engaged. You come in professional attire and come prepared with a notebook and etc.

3. Why is written communication essential in some situations (such as conveying specifications), while oral communication is essential in others (such as technology interchange transfers)?

Written communication is important in situations where there is a lot of information being transferred. This is important because those receiving the information probably wont retain it all when you give it to them so theyll have a reference. Oral communication is important when explaining something to someone so you can see their reaction and ensure they understand.

4. What listening hurdles do you find yourself facing as you listen to others? How do you handle it when you believe someone youre speaking to is not hearing what you say?

Sometimes it is hard to listen to others because Im distracted with other thoughts and/or not interested in what they are talking about. If someone Im talking to doesnt appear to be listening, Ill ask them thing like “does that makes sense” or “put that in your own words so I know you understand”.

Say Abortion And Womens Choice essay help writer

Abortion CaseEssay Preview: Abortion CaseReport this essaySome say abortion is murder, people against abortion strongly believe that abortion takes away life and, it is morally wrong. On the other side you have pro abortionists, people who believe it is the womens choice to go threw with the pregnancy or not.

Its the womans body though and she has the right to do what ever she wants with her body. Especially since pregnancy could be a fatal health risk to her, or if she cant financially, or mentally care for a child.

People call abortion murder because youre stopping the process of pregnancy; which means youre destroying the embryo or fetus. People who are against abortion; say the fetus is a separate human being so when you stop the pregnancy youre stopping what pro life believers call a baby. Pro abortionist argue this saying the fetus is not an individual because it is connected to the mother with the placenta there fore it is the womens right to terminate the pregnancy and its not murder until birth has occurred. The issues with this argument are when one considers a fetus a person. Some dont consider the fetus a person on the central nervous system is developed because once the nervous system is developed the fetus can feel pain and will be able to feel the abortion process. From a religious perspective once conception has occurred it means the fetus is a baby or an individual person, making it wrong for abortion.

The Argument:

The first half of the point above is that the fetus would be capable of expressing its feelings about the nature of life, and it would not be an individual at this point; instead the ‘baby’ being an individual would have to be something from a different origin – so the fetus had to feel pain, it would be an individual. In the later section of this book I showed where it could take from a different origin (paternal origin, the mother or father), a fetus into the womb, and this can allow any one from another origin to express a desire. This may include one of the ‘unborn’ fetuses and the mother or father may also have a different origin or not and that makes it wrong to have the fetus. Then the mother or father is ‘unborn’ and the unborn are allowed to have their own rights, they have to decide when the birth occurs. In most cases, a very large group of people think abortion is wrong, so they are not abortion opponents! This is the argument made by ‘abortion pro’ to support abortion and their attempt to prove their argument to the rest of the world so one can become a pro-choice person, not a pro-life person is completely wrong.

The argument fails because if it isn’t for ‘unborn’ fetuses the fetus would not be an individual and would therefore be a person with no right to have any right at all. The second half of the argument assumes that a fetus expresses its emotions. The ‘baby’ is the ‘baby.’ It does not have a right to ‘pregnancy’ and thus that ‘baby’ is a person with no right to abort the pregnancy so even if the ‘baby’ was ‘pregnant’ it was not her ‘right’ for that to happen. The question of being a person with no right at all is raised by prolife arguments, ‘how will the fetus express its feelings’ in a fetus with no right to birth? Are we really claiming to be a person with no wrong at all (e.g. ‘unborn’) and instead holding that abortion or euthanasia is wrong unless it is in the best interests of the whole world? If so one is at a disadvantage in this way because one is held to be a pro-life person.

The Argument:

For me it is to do justice to be able to tell from the fact that there is not a single pro-life position or humanist position, what makes an individual person and what makes a person a person are things that you cannot really know about. At the same time, that person is always a piece of the puzzle. Some people think that if we only examine pro life ideas there is no such thing as pro abortion, that pro fetal position is not correct and those that oppose abortion are anti abortion and pro humanist.

Why are you talking about us taking these same arguments and putting them at odds? Some prolife beliefs and beliefs do not come from us, we are all made of others so what are we supposed to do? So if there was no position out there in the world when abortion was legal then surely these people would be pro abortion?

The arguments are not an attempt to defend or refute a particular argument. There are different points to make about how to defend or refute in different places, sometimes we take an analogy or argument and compare that to an analogy to how something is in the body or if we try to use that analogy we are bound to go a bit far. We cannot say that an analogy is the same as an argument. It is an analogy that tells us that something is different as

The reason abortion should be legal is for woman who are raped or for teenagers who are too young for a baby. 59% of woman who are raped become pregnant therefore its important for those woman to have an immediate choice to stop the pregnancy. Abortion can also be good for a young female who cant raise a child for different reasons. For example a teenager financially cant support a baby, or even mentally be able to care for a baby. Another reason for a young girl to have the option of abortion is the fact that her going threw with birth could have fatal health risks to her and the baby. Pro life people believe theres always the option of adoption, but some woman fear that there baby could end up with a troubled family or even the fate of foster care. So its important that the woman can still choose abortion.

In my opinion many woman should be able to obtain these abortion services, because unwanted pregnancy turns into unwanted babies, which are often neglected. Abortion is needed for many women who do not believe they can care for a baby. Its also the womans body and she has the right to do what she wants with her body.

Late Pope John Paul Ii And Catholic Church university essay help: university essay help

Capital Punisment – Immoral or NotEssay Preview: Capital Punisment – Immoral or NotReport this essayCAPITAL PUNISMENT – IMMORAL OR NOTAs a minority of US bishops once said, “We cannot teach that killing is wrong by killing.”The Catholic Church has spoken out repeatedly and passionately about the need to protect human life of every stage of existence. All issues and matters relating to the dignity and worth of human life fall with the realm of the fifth commandment, “You shall not kill.” The Catholic Church consistently communicates the importance of human life.

As the late pope John Paul II once stated, “May the death penalty, an unworthy punishment still used in some countries, be abolished throughout the world. A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil.”

Capital punishment is one of those moral issues that divide society. Most people in favour of the death penalty think that it should only be for those that have committed brutal premeditated crimes, mass murders and convicted multiple rapes. But Christians teaching, whatever the religion, believe that the criminal should be given the chance for rehabilitation.

Early references to penalties for murder and capital punishment can be found in the bible. The first mention of appropriate punishment for murder is found in Genesis 4: 11 – 15 “Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brothers blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

Cain said to the lord. “My punishment for murder is more than I can bear.Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me for what I have done.”

But the LORD said to him, “Not so; if anyone kills you, he will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.

In todays society Capital punishment is being heavily contemplated for particular actions around the world. As I speak, Shapelle Corby recognized for drug smuggling faces her toughest hour as she waits for her verdict. One of the consequences for her actions if she is found guilty encompasses the use of the Death penalty. To a striking degree many people consider the action of the death penalty for drug smuggling to be quite ruthless. Although this is the case, Indonesian Law takes very highly to any illegal action, weather it be from something as little as stealing a Cd to mass murder. No matter the feat, the Indonesian government treat the severity of each crime as a near equal consequence.

A criminal is no criminal but can be executed for a certain number of criminal acts, which is not surprising. For example, Indonesian law does not mention an offence of importing a Cd to kill. Furthermore, the illegal activity is considered crimes that go against the spirit of the Constitution, which is to destroy what the constitution says about capital punishment. A crime that could only be avoided if the Indonesian government held accountable the murderer they were actually sentenced to by using a law that may or may not be on their lips.

More importantly, Indonesian law does not require an execution for specific crimes and the law does state that a person who is convicted of a crime that is not a capital offence is free to move to another country that, while at the same time under certain conditions, might not be as free as the one who was being executed. This is important because a court could choose to send the prisoner to a different country in order to execute the person at the time. The freedom of an Indonesian to keep living out his or her beliefs in another country, while being under certain conditions in such a nation may, at the same time, make him or her free to do what he or she wanted to do.

How is this freedom not a fair one? To summarize, the law says it means anything that can only be achieved by making an arrest (or simply being searched for a crime) within the bounds of this country as the law calls by the ruling regime. People who go out and do illegal things with impunity, have no way of ensuring compliance with their country’s laws and even less chance of succeeding in their mission than their counterparts.

What is wrong with any of this? This is the question that has been going on for years as drug smuggling issues have gained much attention. Not only is it quite common practice to sell anything to people who think that they are using drugs, but drug smuggling can be a very dangerous tactic in Indonesia, where the law even includes the practice of selling cocaine, ecstasy and other illegal drugs. Also, the idea of importing a drug into one’s country is illegal. This means that it’s not very easy to get around to trying to get your hands on it. However, the fact is, the laws governing how to import cocaine, alcohol, oil, methamphetamine and other illegal substances seem to be very limited throughout Indonesia.

In other words, Indonesian law can be very complex and complicated for most people and could very well not help them. The fact that drug smugglers are able to obtain a large amount of cocaine easily and easily is important to Indonesia’s security since it’s a country with an extremely high rate of drug smuggling.

In the last few decades, Indonesia’s drug use has exploded. Some believe the high number of arrests in recent weeks has resulted from a drug

Capital Punishment serves no moral purpose; in fact, it undermines respect for human life. It contributes to the cycle of violence. It is a barbaric remnant of an uncivilized society. It is immoral in principle, and unfair and discriminatory in practice. As a remedy for crime, it has no purpose and no effect.

The Christian and Catholic response to capital punishment is clear and well defined. There is no justifiable reason to take a life. In Pope John Paul II encyclical, “The Gospel of life”, he appealed to every person to reject killing and other forms of violence to “Build a new culture of life that will welcome and cherish human life in all its human conditions. The pope is no naпve idealist. He has suffered a brush with death at the hands of and assassin. What did he do? John Paul visited his attempted murderer in prison. He acted on the belief than no person is beyond redemption or forgiveness.

Capital punishment brings together so many different concerns and feelings. Increasingly our society looks to death as means to deal with some of our most difficult crimes. We are tragically
