Policy Intent Meets Reality
1 1 unread reply. 1 1 reply.
Introduction
As we have mentioned in early units, a law is usually developed to address an issue that has been deemed important to all parties concerned. This makes the final product very important. Legislative drafters are responsible for formulating written norms which set the parameters for permissible and prohibited behavior on the part of the governed (Segal, 2011). They also make sure that the norms are in compliance with legal traditions and existing law and are practical and implementable (Segal, 2011). Considering this, the drafted policy must be based on clear instructions concerning policy goals and legislative objectives (Segal, 2011). The impact of policies drafted decades ago will be the focus of this assignment.
