Discussion Post: Global Citizens
I encourage and invite you to reflect on how you can also make a positive impact in your life and the lives of others. The website below contains global issues.
I want you to self-reflect on what it means to be a global citizen and how you can take what you have learned from this course to better the world that we are all a part of.
First, please read my thoughts on the matter.
At times I’ve felt optimistic. At times I’ve felt pessimistic. At times I’ve loved and yearned to be loved. At times I’ve avoided human connection and sulked in a self-perpetuated solitude. Life is dynamic, as are my feelings; as are your feelings. The world is full of hate yet paralleled by an infinite abundance of love. It is easy falling into feelings of despair as there are many reminders all around to the destructive tendencies of humans toward one another and also our planet. Yet, within these reminders to the inherent darkness that permeates our existence there are moments of hope, moments of encouragement, moments that remind us that we, the human species, possess the ability to make the world a better place. Whether it is changing the life of one, or positively changing the lives of many, every single one of us is capable of so much more than we realize.
I actively remind myself to be the change I hope to see in others. Although I’m far from perfect and have days where I feel down and would rather sulk in my own sorrows than remind myself to love and practice gratitude, I will never give up on doing what I can to make our world a better place.

The war between Ukraine a a level english language essay helpReply each discussion at least 150 words
Discussion 1
The war between Ukraine and Russia has brought up many concerns on how it might cause negative affects to the already fragile global heath. In 2021, data had shown that about 70 million people had lost their homes due to conflict. Refugees are more prone to contacting infectious disease on their journey to find a new safe home. “Recent Research has reported the prevalence of various infectious diseases in refugee and asylum seeker populations: latent tuberculosis (9-45%), active tuberculosis (up to 11%), and hepatitis B (up to 12%).” (Moore, 2021) Many of these refugees can not properly treat these infectious diseases because of poverty rates amongst refugees, overcrowded living conditions and the likely hood of working in less than favorable conditions. Not to mention the mental health decline that most refugees face when being displaced by war. “People who love through war face psychologically challenging situations, often being uprooted from their homes, facing food insecurity, and constant fear of death and injury to name a few.” (Moore, 2021) Many of these people are already struggling with mental health issues brought on by not ideal living situations from their hometowns. These issues can be exacerbated by having to find a new place to live and restarting their life. These issues can be expected with the new war commencing between the Ukraine and Russia. Given the experiences refugees have shown to struggle with before in the past the world should band together to provide programs that can help them adjust to a new life more seamlessly. We have seen countries provide care packages and asylum but there can be a lot more done to help. People around the world are banding together to donate what they can to refugees who need it. Providing programs for refugee children to help them navigate the emotions that come from home displacement due to war can help them adjust in the long run.

Discussion 2
The ongoing war in Ukraine has affected about 18 million people, and about 4 million people have moved out of the country. Just as the world was starting to recover from the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, another crisis erupted, displacing and endangering the health and well-being of thousands of people (LWW, 2021). The impact of healthcare workers, patients and overall infrastructure is pretty extreme. The war has put a lot of people in urgent need while creating a shortage of medical supplies, making access to healthcare services very difficult, and deaths across the country. The health infrastructure is very fragile because with the immediate change, access to health care is very limited. Patients with chronic disease are waitlisted and it is putting their health at risk. Their condition is being untreated and also resulting in missed diagnoses. In some areas, the food and medicine channels have been cut off because they are running extremely low on supplies. War forces people to flee and civilians in Ukraine are living in cramped refugee camps with poor sanitary conditions. Anytime you disrupt society like this and put literally millions of people on the move, infectious disease will exploit that,” US Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci told the Telegraph. “People are packed together, they’re stressed, they’re not eating, not sleeping properly. They’re highly susceptible to disease (2022). I believe that during these difficult time it is important to work together and create programs to relieve emotional stress. People are experiencing loss of life, they are exposed to trauma and are disturbed from their everyday lives. Data from The WHO suggests that at least 90% of people suffer from stress. In addition, we can continue to donate to help deliver food and water because it has become difficult to come across. Donations can also help with medical care, medical supplies, and therapies for those affected. In conclusion, together we can make a global difference and help those in need. The war has mad a significant impact, creating additional hardships for communities and they need all the support they can get. Together we can ensure that leaders are doing their part to make humanitarian efforts.

NEVER INTRODUCE NEW IDEAS IN YOUR CONCLUSION.
AVOID USING DIRECT QUOTES IN YOUR INTRODUCTION OR CONCLUSION. Sometimes a quote from an outside source is okay if it captures the point of your thesis but avoid quoting primary texts.
You need to include in text quotations and citations from whatever primary texts you are discussing and TWO OUTSIDE SOURCES!
Make a connection between the outside source you are using and your thesis and primary text.
Do not retell the story! Analyze and explain your thesis (which is your main point).
ONLY USE RELIABLE OUTSIDE SOURCES! Do not copy and paste or simply change a few words around from an unreliable source. If it was easy for you to find information to copy and paste from the internet, it’s just as easy for me to find it.

One of the challenges that we have been trying to parse through in class is how we can make workplace learning around diversity, equity, and inclusion work in practice. Foldy’s “Learning From Diversity” article makes sense from a theoretical perspective, but a lot of things that make sense from a theoretical perspective, or make sense on paper, wind up distorted in reality. For example, some of the conflict-based learning she describes as “higher” learning frames probably would not be left at the door in an actual work environment.
The question is: in terms of promoting diversity among our staff, how do we encourage learning around diversity that is effective, challenging, and will preserve working relationships?
You may answer this question by describing a workplace challenge experienced by you or someone you know. Perhaps it involved an aspect of the “cycle of work” that Deana Carrithers described today: attraction, recruitment, on-boarding, development, retention or separation. What made this challenge a teachable moment — how was it handled? What should have been done? Try to apply concepts from the readings this week and/or from Deanna’s presentation.

What You Have to Do
*The Movie I picked is goodfellas directed by martin scor… scholarship essay helpWhat You Have to Do
*The Movie I picked is goodfellas directed by martin scor… mafia movie
This essay gives you the opportunity to exam a film within its historical context.
You will be expected to engage:
(a) the film’s contemporary response (that is to say, articles and/or reviews about the film when it was produced);
(b) the social and historical context of the film (what is going on in the world that the film might be speaking to, either directly and consciously or indirectly); and
(c) the form of the film itself (how it uses elements of film art to create meaning).(For reference, be sure and read the four “Film Art” pages in the “Modules” section of the course website. Each references a specific element (cinematography, editing, mise-en-scene, sound); your essay should make use of at least one of those concepts.)
Your essay must incorporate each of these elements. The essay should be at least four full pages. (Please follow this sample format Download sample formatdocument from the course website.) It will be due by midnight on March 4th. (A note about audience: assume your reader is a peer in this class, and so has the same basic grounding in the subject at hand.)
The film that you select must be from 1990 or before. (It must also be an American film.)
Some films are going to be easier to do this than others. You should get started early, in case you find it more difficult than expected to write an argument about your chosen film. You have plenty of time to work on this, so even if your first or second choice winds up falling through, you should still be able to find a more suitable subject.
Considerations and Possible Approaches
Your paper has to have a thesis, but you will have a great deal of leeway in terms of what that thesis may be. The ideas below should help you as you decide what film to write about and what approach to take.
Remember back to our discussion of registers of meaning (see the Bordwell reading). Thinking about the symptomatic meaning of a film will likely be a good way to develop a thesis for this paper. (It would also be possible to craft a thesis around an implicit meaning, though it might consequentially be more difficult to engage expectations (a) and especially (b).
You can usually craft a pretty good thesis statement using a structure similar to this: “while most critics have seen the film as being about ____________, I intend to show that [this film] is about _______________.” (Of course, for this assignment, you then have to use the film’s contemporary critics and historical context to help illustrate your points and make your case.)
Controversial films tend to make good material for an assignment like this. Films like, say, The Last Temptation of Christ or Do the Right Thing drew a lot of (often critical) attention at the time of their release, and those controversies likely say something important not just about the film itself but about the era in which the film is released.
Another possibly productive approach would be to take a film about an earlier historical period or event and examine it for what it’s treatment of its content suggests about the time of its production. Meet Me in St. Louis takes place around the 1904 World’s Fair, but on a symptomatic level it’s about what that earlier time and place might mean for audiences exhausted from 13 years of economic depression and several years of global war.
Another way to generate a thesis is by finding a film whose contemporary critical consensus you might disagree with. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, for instance, was widely panned by critics at the time of its release. But perhaps you think (as I do, that it is something of a minor masterpiece.) Other films were critically successful but have not fared well as time has passed. You could create an argument that uses social/historical context and filmic analysis to show why contemporary critics misunderstood the film or were wrong in their initial assessments.
These are just a few possibilities. There are many other ways that you can construct a thesis for this assignment. The important thing, though, is that in constructing you argument you draw on all three elements I have outlined as essential. A few more thoughts on that:
Contemporary critical response: you may bring in the articles and reviews to illustrate your own analysis of the film, to help to establish the historical context for the film, or to serve as a foil against which you will position your own argument. There may be other ways to use them as well. The important thing is that you have at least two such articles cited in your paper.
Historical context: be sure to explain the historical context sufficiently for your audience (which, for the purposes of this assignment, you should assume to be your fellow students in this class).
Film Analysis: don’t feel compelled to cover all of film art—you don’t have to write extensively about each different element. You can do that if you think it is most effective, but you could also focus primarily (or even entirely) on, say, cinematography.

Research Project: The Historical Movie Review
Objective:
Your job is to watch on custom essay helpResearch Project: The Historical Movie Review
Objective:
Your job is to watch one film, then write a 1000-1500 word paper (roughly 4-6 pages). In your essay, explain how the movie helped you learn about a particular time or event from history. You will argue that film (as a medium) is either a good way to learn about history or not, and explain the reasons behind your thinking. Most of the films on the list are not trying for complete historical accuracy, but they set their stories in a historical environment. Choose your film from the list below. All films can be accessed for free via the SWANK Database (you can use this link, or it can be accessed from the Library webpage as well). Watch the film immediately; you will be focusing your research around it.
1. The Paper’s Purpose
You will investigate the way the movie depicts the historical period or topic by doing some research using sources. Is the movie making an attempt to be faithful to the historical evidence, or is it mostly fiction? Are the film characters attempting to portray real people, or are they fictional?
Finally, you will comment upon the film’s representations and tone. Is the viewer obviously supposed to be cheering for one side or character, knowing that they will triumph in the end? You are NOT writing a plot-summary of the movie! Do not summarize the plot.
2. Research
Using the Library’s electronic databases, you will find and read three separate articles (at least 800 words in length) to help you argue your thesis.
Your articles must be Peer Reviewed (Academic Journal) articles. Your articles do not have to reference the film directly, but they should be related to the time period, topic, or people involved.
You may not use Film Reviews.
At the conclusion of your paper, provide a list of “Works Cited.” These, as well as your
in-text citations, must be formatted in MLA Style citation.
You will be held accountable for academic honesty. If you commit plagiarism or otherwise copy another writer’s words, you will receive a Zero for this assignment, and will be referred to the Office of Academic Affairs for disciplinary action.
3. Style and Format
Do not use first-person (I, me, we); or second-person (you, your), and do not use slang.
Turn Page-numbering ON, and don’t forget your Works Cited page.
This work must have a compelling Title and Hook.

We have now covered some of the intricacies of exchange rate determination via t essay help onlineWe have now covered some of the intricacies of exchange rate determination via the interest parity model. The following questions will force you to think and apply these models and assumptions.
1. 5 Pts. Under the Trump administration, imports from the EU were tariffed. How did this action change the long-run real exchange rate between the US and EU? How is the long-run nominal exchange rate affected? Utilize graphs to assist in answering this question.
2. 5 Pts. Why might it be true that relative PPP holds better in the long run than the short run? (Think about how import/export firms might react to large and persistent cross-border differences in the prices of a tradable good.)
3. 10 Pts. Sticky nominal prices and wages are central to macroeconomic theories, but just why might it be difficult for money prices to change from day to day as market conditions change? Apply this thought process to the following article: Law of One Price in Scandinavian Duty Free Stores __> PDF called Law of one Price
4. 5 Pts. Read / Watch the content in the following link: Federal Reserve Decision in March 2021. Using the Real Exchange Rate approach, explain what will happen to the US exchange rate with, say, Mexico. Utilize the domestic market / FX market graph in explaining your reasons. Imagine that the Federal Reserve decides to fight inflation, what will happen to the USD:MXN exchange rates via the domestic market/FX market graph? This is the link –> https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/17/fed-decision-march-2021-fed-sees-stronger-economy-higher-inflation-but-no-rate-hikes.html
Answer the following questions that are based on Topics 7 & 8.
1. 7 pts. Suppose that interest parity does not hold exactly, but that the true relationship is R = R* + (Ee-E)/E + p , where p is a term measuring the differential riskiness of domestic versus foreign deposits. Suppose a permanent rise in domestic government spending, by creating the prospect of future government deficits, also raises , that is, makes domestic currency deposits more risky. Evaluate the policy’s output effects in this situation.
2. 5 pts. If a government initially has a balanced budget but then cuts taxes, it is running a deficit that it must somehow finance. Suppose people think the government will finance its deficit by printing the extra money it now needs to cover its expenditures. Would you still expect the tax cut to cause a currency appreciation?
3. 7 pts. If a country changes its exchange rate, the value of its foreign reserves, measured in the domestic currency, also changes. This latter change may represent a domestic currency gain or loss for the central bank. What happens when a country devalues its currency against the reserve currency? When it revalues? How might this factor affect the potential cost of holding foreign reserves? Make sure to consider the role of interest parity in formulating your answer.
4. 6 pts. Based on our discussion of a fixed exchange rate, how sustainable is a USD-pegged cryptocurrency. Review the content from the following link: Winklevoss Brothers and Pegged Cryptocurrency and discuss the potential threats and advantages of having a USD backed cryptocurrency. Utilizes any and all graphs from class when answering. –> use this think here https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/10/winklevoss-firm-rolls-out-new-cryptocoin-pegged-to-us-dollar.html
