Week 1 Discussion

It seems that regardless of their status as a public or private agency, many entities are concerned with the budgetary process at the federal level. Describe the federal budgetary process and explain what checks and balances are in place and why they are important.
Research and explain the following:
What are the opportunities different groups and entities have to make their concerns known while the budget is being developed?
What are the differences in the opportunities afforded to various types of groups to provide that input?
Why do you think some groups are given more opportunities and some fewer? Support your explanation with an appropriate rationale, citation(s), and reference(s).

Business Question

First watch the Simon Sinek video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVd3C3UEtU0
After viewing the videos,’ you should have a greater understanding why empathy is an essential talent for leadership. As Mr. Sinek suggests, we have to start practicing empathy and relate to what others may be going through and it will profoundly change the decisions we make.
Your assignment is to use an Empathy Map Canvas designed by Dave Gray of XPLANE to gain a deeper level of understanding empathy through an example where you play the role of a manager trying to have empathy for an employee or for a customer. There are 7 steps described in the Customer Empathy Map Canvas that will allow you to collect important information about your employee or customer situation/problem. The seven different components you will consider are:
WHO are we empathizing with? Who is the person we want to understand?
What is the situation they are in?
What is their role in the situation?

What do they need to DO?
What do they SEE?
What do they SAY?
What do they do?
What do they HEAR?
What do they THINK and FEEL?PAINs: What are their fears, frustrations, and anxieties?
GAINS: What are their wants, needs, hopes, and dreams?

Even if you do not understand the employee/customer very well, the Empathy Mapping Canvas can help you identify gaps in your understanding, and hence help you gain a deeper understanding of the things you do not yet know. People use it to help improve customer experience, to navigate organizational politics, to design better work environments, and a host of other things.
INSTRUCTIONS
Students can use this map as if you are a manager trying to have empathy for an employee or for a customer. It can also be viewed as an employee having empathy for a co-worker or even the boss. To take it a step further, it may also put you in the shoes of a company’s board of directors, executive management, shareholders, creditors, suppliers, and the local community.
Select one of the following issues facing a company today:
You are a manager trying to have empathy for one of your employees during this time who is personally affected by this issue.
You are a board member having a communication issue with a manager of the company, but you have just learned that they have a sick family member at home.
You are an employee who saw a change in your coworker’s performance but learned that they are having family issues that are affecting them at work.
Design your own scenario that you would like to use to complete this exercise.
How to use the Empathy Map to complete this assignment?
Start with Step 1 and 2 (GOAL), by defining who will be the subject of the Empathy Map and a goal: something they need to do. This should be framed in terms of an observable behavior. Additionally, provide an example of a strategic or non-strategic decision this person could make as it relates to the company’s product or service.
Once you have determined the goal, complete Steps 3, 4, 5, and 6. The reason for this is to give you a chance to imagine what another’s experience might be like.
Finally, complete Step 7. This is one of the most important aspects of the map’s design, visualizing what it is like to be inside someone else’s head.
Write a 1.5 – 2.5-page (excluding cover and reference pages) narrative of the seven components of the Empathy Map Canvas. Your answers should be brief and to the point, including the seven component titles as follows:
WHO are we empathizing with?
What do they need to DO?
What do they SEE?
What do they SAY?
What do they do?
What do they HEAR?
What do they THINK and FEEL?

Business Ethics – “The Frontline Documentary: The Persuaders” Response Question

Hi, the attachment has all the information for the assignment. In case the video link does not work on the pdf, here it is. Please draw on specific examples from the video and stay around 250 words in total.
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/showspersu…
Please let me know if theres any issues. You do not need to format this nicely, just a paragraph or two in a word doc answering the questions. No works cited or outside quotes needed. This is a hard deadline so I will be unable to extend the time unfortunatley.
Thanks for the help in advance! I really appreciate it 🙂
