Social media platforms are an effective way to distribute public health information. Based on my experience, I work for my local health department and they use various social media outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, TicToc, and Twitter to distribute public health information that will be vital knowledge that will help promote public health and wellness. For example, because of the recent spike of cases within my county, the social media pages contain various information regarding covid-19 awareness campaigns and precautionary guidelines, information regarding the number of cases they have and etc.
Conferences or Workshops
However, there are also other methods that public health professionals use to disseminate knowledge which is through conferences or workshops which provide information, training, and education to public health professionals regarding public health areas such as diseases surveillance, community health, environmental health, policy management and more.
Effectiveness
I think both methods are effective because the public health professionals are being informed and educated on important areas that will give them the skills and knowledge to support the population to maintain the health and wellness of the population. Whereas, social media platforms are a cost-effective way to freely distribute information that will be viewed by thousands of viewers to get the message across faster and creatively.
